Trigger the codex with a statement.

The Golden Age of CRPGs was 1987-1994.
It was also the golden age of jrpgs since wizardry and dragon quest were only blatantly copied a couple dozen times by japanese devs at that time.

I am trying to fit in the Codex by having the most consensual opinions, but it is so hard to follow which games I should consider monocled classics and which ones I should consider shit.
Don't be alarmed; the Codex is a friendly and inviting place that accepts everyone, as long as they loathe Baldur's Gate.
This is a thread to trigger the Codex, not get newbies killed...

I cannot even conceive of the notion that the Codex would be even remotely triggered if a newbie carks it...

Remember all cool kids like Thief series here on Codex, especially two first games. Third one can still get a pass even though it was consolized and Thiaf 2k14 is giant pile of shit.

Ps5 is hardware wise held back by all the crap indie crpg bullshit and poor pc gamers that cant afford a decent gpu.
Devs have to develop their multiplaform games accordingly and cant utilize the full power of the great ps5 hardware.

I know one person who owns a ps5. Why should devs waste their time making something for like a dozen people?

Look at Gotham Knights and Plague Tale Requiem. 30fps already, and we're only two years into these consoles life cycle. The more memory and features you give to developers, the lazier they become. That's a fact.

All the greatest games we love are results of overcoming technical limitations, not any kind of freedom provided by hardware of the time. And when you look at all these new upscaling methods and nvidia's fake frame generation, you can bet your ass optimization of games will be replaced with "just turn on DLSS bro," and more 30fps console titles.

And also, if you remove "all the crap indie crpg bullshit" from the equation, you're left with shitty walking simulators and gormless open world games.
