Anyone here playing with a female character mind checking what dialogue they get here?
m4X3tee.jpg
I'm really curious to see if Kyros is referred to "he" if the player character is a female. Especially because all early screenshots of the game had Kyros constantly referred to as "he".
This dialogue bit is after you
meet with Tunon in his private chamber, subsequent to capturing Ascension Hall

Call me a misogynist all you want, but I don't think a female writer can carry the metaphysical themes of the first game forward without fucking it up or mixing romance with it. They just don't have the genuine interest in those more abstract themes to produce anything of worth.
False.
How would I know?
I've read this.
I wasn't talking about science fiction.
You were talking about metaphysical themes and that "they just don't have the genuine interest in those more abstract themes". Sci-Fi isn't just battle droids and space battles (also the stories in the book are from 19th / early 20th century). One of the story is about a guy who can't die of old age and he contemplates how shitty it actually is. Another is about people getting lost in different dimension after they are "dragged" into it through a painting on the wall. In another, insectoids from Venus ask people of Earth to help them fight some dangerous vermin that plagues their planet - in fact humans.
And again, I inquire, what does this have to do with my post?
You said women are not capable of that stuff, I gave you an example to show you that you're wrong.

And you completely misunderstood what "that stuff" was. But no matter. Want to discuss it, quote this post on the tyranny shitposting thread http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/inde...-companions-are-female-discuss.111843/page-10

The most PC talk I've encountered is the main character's own dialogue. He mentions to some chick (Eb, maybe?) that she'll be better off under Kyros' "equality", which didn't really make sense in context. Other things don't really hit me as PC, like Barik assuming that my male character wants to fuck him, and not being openly opposed to that idea, when I asked him if he tried to get his armor off. It actually gave him some extra character, now we know what's on his mind all the time :p It's only PC when there's disgusting regressive left agendas being pushed (like Mizhena), but I don't see that, at least for now. Also, there are some anachronisms in dialogues, like Verse mentioning that war is like a *symphony*, while a symphony is a very advanced musical form that bronze age people wouldn't be able to even comprehend, let alone conceive, but that's a nitpick only I care about.

Heavy spoilers (probably, as in, I'm asking for heavy spoilers) ahead

So there seem to be many points where you can betray your choice of allied force. Do you HAVE to pick one in the first Act or can you fuck over both of them in the first act as well? Secondly, what does fucking over both armies entail? I don't really want to help either, but I want to stick with my bro Tunon as well. Is that possible?

Really? When I asked him how he jacks off he seemed fairly opposed to fucking my male character and quite disgusted by my question lol.

I don't know? I asked him first about the armor, he assumed that I want to fuck him and when I asked the follow-up question of whether that's a thing he'll consider (paraphrasing) he didn't voice an opinion either way (that's why I said he wasn't openly opposed to it). Then I asked him about how he jacks off and he, while being somewhat opposed to the question itself, said he couldn't.

The PC Gamer review praised the conversations about Barik's masturbation habits (or lack thereof) and that just seems like really bizarre writing. Is it legitimately well-handled writing, or is it as out of place as it sounds like it is? Genuinely curious.

They also praised Tyranny's writing and said it was close to BG2 and PS:T, but then the reviewer admitted in the comments he had never played PS:T.
Video-game reviewers, huh.
I think it's pretty well handled. If you can ask him how he takes a dump, no reason not to ask him how he jacks off. He is obviously disturbed by your question though.

Yes, it's weird. Not because they are talking about masturbation, but because they just met and the conversation doesn't flow naturally at all.

I personally wouldn't ask a man in that situation how he takes a dump, so I also wouldn't ask him how he jacks off. Maybe that's just me.

I guess that's not really all that surprising. Obsidian struggles with character writing most of the time, so it'd probably be weirder if they didn't have a conversation where you can walk up to someone you just met and ask them how they shit and polish their doorknob.

Thanks for the input. This is definitely on my radar for whenever I finish Pillars of Eternity, but I'll keep appropriate expectations for the writing.

Well by now I'm halfway through the game and there's zero variety in encounters, like seriously, none. It's either brigands from different factions that fight EXACTLY the same way or

some mana ghosts or whatever

Irenicus dungeon had more varied enemies, let alone Athkatla, that's just sad.

Thankfully, no one forces you to ask him.

I asked him by mistake (was just exhausting convo options lol) and didn't even get the joke until after I had asked the question.
Barik just said "WTF man?" and that was that. (Also a minor rep change but who cares.)

So no big deal, tbh.

I like how the first description of Barik the armor guy isn't overly dramatic but that they do mention him smelling of feces. Descriptive and very good at setting the guy down as a poor bastard instead of some power fantasy.

Also when you party sneak he always mentions something along the line of trying to stay upwind from enemy.

Do all companions have combo abilities with each other?
Companion combos are only between companion and the player character.
Yes, everyone has combos. Usually 2 or 3 per character.

Verse and Barik have a combo between the two of them.
They do? Which one? I ditched Verse after I finished Act I because Sirin is superior, but I unlocked both her combos and both were with PC. I also have both Barik combos unlocked and found out about their half-sibling relationship.

One question. If you thought POE was garbage, will you think the same of this Tyranny?

Oh let's go for two. What's the general plot? Is it pure fantasy or is there some sci-fi stupidity?

Why did you think PoE was garbage? I guess it depends.
Tyranny combat is literally right click, spam cooldowns and go. So if you just wanna experience the story and not feel like a total retard for having to pick easy, you don't need to. The game isn't even remotely challenging.

I have no idea what triggers it, but at some point you can ask them to "train together", which gives you the combo. She shoots arrows into his armor, then they all fly out and do tons of AoE damage. It's actually stronger than any of the combos involving the PC.
