Hey guys small thing have any of you noticed if, ( minor spoiler below so if you are not past rail crossing don't read)
The faceless got buffed? I used to be able to shield and burst fire take out the front guard and the robot but he just kept his reflex booster on and putting out ridiculous damage to the point i just went around and did the underground way to get in, then i had to fight the faceless who refused to come up stairs at the trigger when i killed the psi guy and activated the turets so i had to go downstairs and kill one and lure the rest upstairs to kill where i had help. A real big difference where i used to be able to take all three down at once.

I haven't played the game in EA, but this was probably the toughest encounter for me so far, since if any of the faceless got any face time (dohohoho) with my character, I was dead in one turn. Killing the ones inside the shop was pretty simple, though: enter via back entrance, set up some traps around the corner of the first corridor near the stairs, lure gun guy into them and make sure he dies - I used force wall to hold off the others, but just killing him before he can switch on the shield works too - then gtfo, enter via main entrance, close the door (!) and abuse LOS through the counter to kill the hammer guy + robot without getting hit.

EMP grenades are the main equalizer (they're sold by that Myles guy too), but if you can e.g. abuse LOS against a robot, you can just plink it to death anyway.

edit: in fact, LOS abuse seems to be very powerful in general for hitting immobile enemies + ranged enemies stuck behind fences and such without getting hit. Do enemies get reaction fire (or similar abilities) later?

LOS is a critical thing later on for non heavy Armour characters otherwise you simply disintegrate when a psi guy locks you down for a turn and three Assault rifle characters burst you, also prevents grenades for ruining your day.

Yeah traps will help you a ton as in investing in mechanics and chemistry along with it is beautiful now especially with sound system, i just had a fight in the city where i killed 3 guys by walling off the entrance and as they patrolled in blitzed them to death then restealthed and hid in a corner, on some fights don't be afraid to stealth in initiate combat throw a grenade at them then run like fuck and wall off the door, molotov+confined spaces+psi wall=awesome, i use those basic bear traps that require no skill at other entrances so when the enemy tries to go around they step on one and get rooted for 3 turns.

I am really tempted to restart and drop tailoring and psi then grabbing traps and chemistry but that will wait for my crossbow run i think, with the sound system this game has so many fun things you can do now, with throwing grenades and leading enemies into land mine fields.

Yeah - I knew he tested it, but I was nervous about the sound system.

Shouldn't have been. It's brilliant. As a systems/mechanicsfag - this game is incredibly impressive.

The noise system is great, although it has made certain areas significantly more difficult than they used to be, depending on your character's build.

*cough* Depot A *cough*, yeah no problem I'll fight two or three Mutants and three Mutated Dogs after the fourth bumbled over a landmine, this is fine. Everything is fine. I'm fine. We're fine.
I've noticed that, particularly with the addition of the odd safe here and there, mechanically locked doors and containers outnumber electronically locked doors and containers by at least 2:1. I'm not convinced the occasional special hacking opportunities make up for that, particularly given that even if you max out Hacking each level-up, you still seem to need a minimum of 7-8 Intelligence to take advantage of some of those special opportunities at the levels you'd typically encounter them.

For example, I was unable to take advantage of the security station in Depot A with an Intelligence of 6 because my Hacking skill wasn't high enough, despite maxing Hacking each level.
Also, Lockpicking offers its own "special feature": the ability to access ventilation systems, which Hacking lacks. In my opinion, the world could use a few less mechanically locked doors and containers, and a few more electronically locked ones.

Also you can buy Haxxor MK2 for better hacking skill. I found one at Junkyard vendors.

I think that's balanced by the fact that the stuff in electronically locked containers is almost universally superior to stuff in mechanically locked containers.

The best is burning through a lockpick mk. ii only to fine that there is nothing in the container...

Yeah, they go up to MKIII and possibly even IV now (not sure if 1.0 added another). However, that doesn't help you hack during special dialogues.

Is there a point of going over 10 on any stat except the bonus to the corresponding skills?

Not in terms of feat prerequisites, but that's a very big point, because an extra 2-3 stat points can add up to a lot of extra damage/accuracy/max crafting quality/etc.

I made Depot A into my bitch with my newest dood. Pistols + Grenades are so powerful. I took the Grenadier feat so I can lob Frag Grenades every 2 turns instead of 4. It makes such a huge difference. The mutants are practically worthless against me when I hit them with Kneecap Shot and kite them around. I have 12 dex and can shoot 4 times a turn with the Hammerer. Itz godly.

It didn't exactly get the Serpent in the Staglands treatment, but it's in the same category. Then again it was perfectly expected given the state of the industry.

Just buy multiple copies and rope in a few if you can. It's pretty much a charity drive trying to spread the word about good games these days.

Reviewing Underrail isn't going to get gaming "journalists" a shrimp cocktail and champers dinner, a swag loot crate, or more than a few ad views, so they can't be bothered.

I don't even see anything on TIGSource (an indie games blog). In fact, a search for Underrail returns no results. Styg is Serbian and doesn't brush shoulders with the hipster elite of indie gaming, and Underrail also isn't an arthouse puzzle platformer, so that's not too surprising either.

AoD has 12 "critic" reviews on MetaCritic and those trickled in over a couple months. I assume it will take awhile for those to trickle in. Less reviews wouldn't surprise me given that AoD had some sizable signal boosts from other devs.

Changing the release date from the 21st to the 18th probably didn't help matters in terms of just publicizing the release.

Player counts look pretty solid though, no doubt due to the attractive price point.

Are there any other ways to get empty bottles for molotovs and similar other than looting trashcans? Haven't seen any trader selling it for a long time.
I'm one of the richest fucks in all Underrail and I have to through all of Core City trash to make some molotovs....

Just checked my Gamersgate account and was pleased to find the full 1.0 Build under Extras and not just a Steam Key.

Thanks for getting it there so swiftly, Styg, and not ignoring anything that isn't Steam (unlike the Expeditions: Conquistador guys....)

So you are into buying people and some S/M sex with your slaves? And then share them for free with others to spread the word about your "games"?

I convinced two friends to buy it, one doesn't even play crpgs, and he's hooked.

I played for a bit but the small font size gave me eye cancer (even on large). First Shadowrun Dragonfall and now this. This is an absolute dealbreaker for me. I hope there's an "extra large" font size on some patch.

"Used to think that Arcanum was the best successor to Fallout 1 and 2. Years gone by and CRPG genre faded away and it was presumed dead. Then the CRPG renaissance was promise due to crowdfunding and thus we had Wasteland 2 , Shadowrun and other turned based isometric CRPG's but they didn't provide the complexity of older Fallout titles. I was convinced by RPG Codex that this would be the incline we were all hoping for and I purchased it at launch day (never bothered with spoilers from EA).
After spending some time to get to level 5 I now have in mind another build of my character that I would like to start a new. This only happened with games like Fallout 1,2 or Acanum.Such a small team managed to do so much it's mind blowing! Hell, even the price is incredible and please don't judge the game by it's graphics because Fallout didn't get were is today because of it ( although Bethesda may disagree). It's hard, it's complex, smart, adventurous fallowed by a fantastic soundtrack and ambient sounds. Every stat and every item seems to be there in order to have a purpose , the world seems alive. My only small complain is the lack of cloud saving but I can live with that with no problem. Thank you Stygian Software for taking CRPG's genre into the next level! PC players rejoice! This is the incline we were hoping for along with Age of Decadence."

This is my steam first impression of the game. Thank you RPGCodex for opening my eyes!

Well, me and my two best friends usally gift each other a "small" (~10 golds) game for christmas via Steam. I got my candidate for this year and I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.

By the way: Do you get a map ingame later, like an ingame item? I started drawing a map on a piece of paper and it's fun to do, but I'm curious if there will be any ingame map function. (Please don't tell me I missed an obvious button for map :|)
