Finished the expansion. I took me another 2-3 hours but I'm done.

Yeah, Psi users are not OP enough.

Tone and Marcus. Probably the best characters from the expansion.

Don't give the Acorn to Oldfield. Aran was offering me 12000 Charons for it.

Fuck you Expedition! You almost killed my love for Underrail.

I had a 3700+ critical with this Sniper rifle but I don't feel like going forward ... cause next is Deep Caverns and I'm pretty sure this build would one-shot Tchort.

This is the end for me. I don't regret buying this DLC but I'm really scared about the future of Underrail.

The thing is: the safety of the expedition went from excellent to worse even when I did most of the killing and I did not lose one single Aegis soldier to the natives.

Looks like a bug?

No to mention that there are places were the cameras see you through the walls.

Definitely a bug. Report them if you don't want such bugs to be in game.

However each time I start combat it's a complete shit show: sometimes Snipe works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes Aimed Shot works, sometimes it doesn't. You cannot count on the percentage displayed by the game: 70%+ hit chance are missed shots. For example do a test: reload the same savegame and start combat. Some times you will hit 3 criticals and other times you will have 3 misses in a row. No joke. RNG makes the difference between these opposites. It should not work like this and the RNG should be toned down considering that I have a weapon with low damage spread.

I can agree probably with other things you said, but that just simple and pure bullshit. And I don't want even try to explain why.

You don't even really need stealth (but it helps, so please use it). Go into combat as close as you can get to hoppers. Use your movement points to get close as you can. Throw net. If this succeeds, then end turn. Next turn, use the cage on the captured hopper. Voila. Easily done.

Alternatively, set up a hopper trap in front of one of their hidey holes. As soon as one steps in your trap, start combat. Use cage on hopper. Voila. Even easier.

You don't need any of that. Wait near crivices from which hoppers appearing. Start combat when it showed up. Use dog crate on it.

where can i finally find some night vision component

Just buy it throughout the game whenever you see one.

anyone paired evasive maneuvers with high evasion character, fancy footwork and blitz?

Except Blitz I did it.

That's why I specified: do your own research.

I had 3 misses in a row (Snipe, Aimed Shot and regular attack) while on reload I had 3 critical hits from the exact same position. This should not happen.

I have no reason to lie about this and I know what was my experience.

When you're dealing with true RNG, anything can happen. I've seen gigantic amounts of bullshit in Underrail, because it doesn't do anything under the hood to make you "feel" like 70% is really what you perceive should be 70% chance to hit. Instead it's just plain and simple 70%, and anything can happen. On the other hand I've been really fucking lucky before, but we tend to remember the bullshit a lot more clearly.

I don't know if I expressed myself clearly enough, but basically lots of games don't offer randomness but rather something that "feels" better for the player, like if you missed then you'll hit next time no matter what, or things like that. There's lots of ways to manipulate things under the hood in order for the player to feel like the stats displayed on screen are accurate without calling out bullshit like missing with 95% chance to hit, or missing twice with 70% to hit and shit like that. Truth is these things CAN happen unless the game manipulates some stuff for you.

after giving it some thought, Im no longer convinced that chemistry is worth it. Sure frags mk5 are nice but then... you can craft plasma now so electronics can cover raw dmg to non robotic enemies. Traps too.
Sure gas grenades are nice but then... I already got 20 barrels and i do not expect to use them anytime soon.

With expansion i tend to find a lot of mk4 too which annoys me(and im talking mainland). I guess what Im saying is I find too much stuff to bother with crafting :negative:

Resisting this urge to start over with slightly different stats...

in terms of electronics, without merchant skill oculus failed to provide anything useful? Core tech did deliver q120 edge and q100 schock generator.
Speaking electronics... where can i finally find some night vision component? Cant craft my goggles like this

I don't know, I got a lot of millage out of making my own grenades before I switched to plasma and the skill requirement for mark 3 is really high.
I never ever found a night vision component in all the time I looked, I finally gave up and just went and did DC without them.

Providing more information about how certain games handle randomness: statistically I believe that the player missing 3 times with 70% chance to hit is extremely likely to happen at some point, as you know from playing Underrail. This does not really feel very good, so Dota 2 for example employs pseudo random distributions. Basically I believe the way it works is that every time you miss then your chance to succeed next time is raised by a certain amount, in such a manner that mathematically the chance to hit averages out to the value displayed on screen. A lot of other games employ similar strategies.

This is a very interesting subject. Humans are not very good at accepting randomness, this is why games commonly manipulate it.

…And it's really shit to hide that from the player. if you're going to adjust it, then be explicit about it. See Hard West's luck system for a working example.

games a lot different since last I played. Crawlers lot tougher. They were honestly too weak for a creature with a gang named after them and with borrowers being more scary in large numbers. Dirty kick feat lot more useful with it procing the psi ability and overall seem do more damage then I remember it.

Defensive feats combined with high con still really strong. Its easy to have enough offensive power but tankiness makes every enemy a joke. Your dude is like superman compared to them. There not enough sniper and hammer fags in the game to give you shit.

Can scarcely imagine doing that shit without a String Lord style build with Expose Weakness and Implosion to prop up the crossbows, NOT GONNA LIE.
i'm using deadly snares, versatility and acid blob pistol to entangle enemies. So far it works okayish - overkill for unarmored enemies, but still risky and time-consuming for crabs and strongmen.

That's my impression too. Grenades are a bit of overkill for early game, especially if you have grenadier and temporal psi, but chemical pistols aren't very good, because you can't add any optional modules to them. So no increasing range, aoe, accuracy etc.

If the skill requirements were lower, than maybe, but as it is, chem is not worth.

That psi-helmet is gutter trash and worse than any uni-psi headband.

Naga protectors, what the fuck. I'm ditching my shitty crossbow in favor of rapid reloader spearhead. I hope non-specialized versatility will be enough to let me successfully destroy these fuckers with armor-piercing rounds.

IDK even know how I'm going to deal with them with this spear build. I'll probably just meta game their positions and set up a bunch of traps.

Is a metal helmet really worth it? The armor penalty seems to heavily outweigh the mechanical resistance I get. Are there any cool unique helmets that help with Melee/Throwing/Bullets?

Tin can Chads don't need any MP at all in order to succeed, therefore they effortlessly wear lead-lined tungsten steel helmets, suits, and boots.

In all seriousness, a full suit of good metal armor provides incredible mechanical resistance. The helmet and boots may not provide that much themselves compared to the suit, but all three together can be absurdly beefy.

My main gripe is that you can't build goggles into a helmet. We have plenty of that kind of shit in the real world. That reminds me how dumb it is that crossbows STILL don't have a dedicated scope slot. Styg confirmed for never had his hands on a crossbow before.

The last one isn't even a realism argument, necessarily. I made the same argument four years ago, because Crossbows could really use the help.

What helmet are you rocking with on your spearmen? And what is the AP on your crafted Riot Armor? I have 52 with Regen vest. kevlar, burrower shield, and reinforced fabric, which is way higher than I thought it would be.

NVG detection goggles, always. I go for versatility and mobility with this guy: riot gear with TiChrome riot shield, pig boots with high-density padding and spring, total armor penalty currently 41%, 42 MP. Once I get near to level 30, I'll have 3 more Agility and Strider, so I'll have 54+ MP; might be able to hit 60.

Speaking of spear guys, the way to wreck Death Stalkers (and every other stealth melee guy) late game is Fend. You see, you can keep Fend up 99.9% of the time while walking around in real time, the only small delay being the time it takes to spam the hotkey.

Flares? Molotovs? Detect them before they can detect you? Nah dawg, literally stand in one spot and press Fend until they appear, uselessly whip their gay shitty little stinger against your invincible spear, then perforate them and rip out their glands to poison your throwing knives with.

crossbow should just be a part of guns honestly, youll have to take feats to make them good anyways, and with versatility the skill points arent an issue

Jesus Psi Christ

I haven't played Psi heavy dude since like 2015, and decided to lulzroll ZHANG LU, the 8DEX/8CON/10WIL psi-monk that doesn't believe in computers (or hacking), dodging (or evading), talking (or haggling), and goes 4 psi disciplines + pickpocket, lockpick, intimidate.

Hard/Oddity, Level 7-8, basically cleaned out Depot A with 0 reloads except one fight where I decide to take on 3 Mutants and 6 dogs in an open field because I can't be arsed going the long way.

Pyromaniac + Fire stream spell basically melted all the mutants, and a strong overcoat from the Junkyard dealer (no acid resist) meant I could facetank mutie-gunners.

It's so crazy that heavy Psi is so versatile it can do almost anything other characters can, and then do it roughly as well. Sentry bots? Pfft. Turrets? Can stun & run past. Mutants? Burned and stunned and bashed.

Not exactly super-optimising the guy so we'll see how he does as it goes on. Ain't going to bother with Black Sea at all now.
