I never went energy pistols. Are they useful throughout? What's a good energy pistol build?

They're not so good early on but once you start getting good crit chance they become really strong. The most recent patch nerfed critical power so you can't hit >1000% critical bonus anymore, but you can still get it really high. And you can get a damage bonus from intelligence, and they have nice damage types, and electroshock's bounce is awesome.
Builds are basically like a normal pistol build except you really want critical chance, be that from ambush or survival instincts or just stacking recklessness/infused rathound/spamming focus stims. And you get extra damage from intelligence so you pay attention to that.

Currently stress-testing a new build for my current playthrough after discarding the first one. What model/caliber Assault Rifle would you guys recommend for a Burst/Suppressive Fire/Commando build? I was thinking either a crafted 9mm hornet or the F25000.

9mm hornet can burst twice with commando specialization and temporal haste. Or with adrenaline and temporal feat you can get 90 AP which means three burst from 8.6 hornet and rapid reloader, and fourth burst with commando proccing.

Question is what you want to specialize? Laser, plasma or electroshock pistols? From my playthrough i can advise you against electroshock pistol as your mains, since you will eventually get hit by your own shot and drop dead :D. Its good as side arm. Plasma is also good as sidearm, since you can deal massive amount of damage with aimed shot. So your main damage dealer will be laser pistol. You want to get it down to 10AP per shot. You need 14 dexterity for that. So that stat is non negotiable. If you dont mind running all the time with eel sandwich, then get 13 dex, and you can invest that into intelligence in the agility build.
My idea was laser as main and plasma as a back-up.
The only way to buff DEX that I see is to dump AG, and I don't want to do that. Higher initiative - some feats - movement points. And I want mobile character for a change.
Or dump INT. Tough choice.
You don't have critical power, why don't you have critical power? Energy pistols can hit like 300% critical bonus if you use a good quality amplifier and have practical physicist (and you do), so critical power takes that up to 500% bonus. Pretty crazy for one feat.
Must have, got it.

So, reworked version. Didn't max DEX. More free skillpoints, and this means more crafting.
No PSI, and don't ask me why.

I used 8.6 Huszar as the main. Biggest damage output. Without PSI or chems it's guarantied two brrs in a turn and leftover AP to heal/reload. I was killing bladelings in Foundry purely with AR - without W2C ammo.

AKX is good for an obvious reasons.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
Throwing Knives + Grenades build on Dom. has just cleared Depot A and is now (for the first time for me) exploring around the metro tunnels of Core City to find oddities for XP.

I've picked up 60 Temporal Manipulation and the "reduce cooldowns by 1" spell; hopefully it's useful even without having Tranquility. It should be, I have so many AP. I've learned that your build actually literally doesn't matter for the early game even on Dominating because no matter what, you can always make or buy some grenades, caltrops and bear traps and spam them to deal with almost any challenge. I've never really used Temporal magic before so I have no idea if there's any other spells worth using. I guess slowing enemies is pretty good. But it's whatever, I am not a big magic guy. I only have this to throw grenades more often so my throwing knives can finish the job.

Also I would never ever play this game without Stealth. It's nice that it's that useful. It becomes even more useful thanks to Oddity XP mode, which encourages me to ignore 'trash' which I find a bit of a relief much of the time.

Underrail has very few trash fights on the surface, if you like to explore caves[which you shouldnt since there's nothing there but misery] then yes, pigs, beetless and rathounds are PITA, but stealth in caves have diminishing value, since the passageways are narrow and critters bump onto you.

Is there actually anything in unmarked caves worth looking for?
I remember finding a lost lab that I thought was unmarked first but turned out to be part of a quest later...

In the latest waterways update, there is mention of a "large dungeon". Has anyone been there?

I'm not 100% sure but isn't that where Exoskeleton lies? The one which also has neat (and useless) connection to Depot A

It's quite large - each of these 3 sections, especially the first two were like 4 times bigger than a usual "dungeon" - square. Loading times as well even on SSD by the way.

Exoskeleton is a unique armor:

Dungeon sounds good, but I'm not sure I understand the point of this armor.
It seems intended to be an unwieldy weapon more than anything, one that leaves you exposed too.

Yep, he's very slow. It's easy to spot when his lazy ass walk out of the store where you're unfortunately in atm so you must've wait for him.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Looks like energy hog. What if energy runs out during the fight? Can you at least recharge it in mid fight like tasers?
Eh, if you don't move it has enough energy to go 15 straight turns. If you want to cut that in half, and say you have eight turns to finish the fight, that means you have 70 tiles of movement during that time. Seems plenty viable to me.

Hmmm i might try a balor run with this exo. With 18 strength this gives enough strengh to wield balor without any food involved which is always a good thing.

BTW, anyone knows where to get a rathound leather of 60 quality?

Oh God. What am I doing with my life? I have 100+ adrenal glands in my locker 'just in case.'

Al Fabet is such a memorable NPC despite barely having any sort of interaction with the PC or relevance to the story. Had a good laugh when I met him, hoarders unite!
