Think I will skip Execute and take Point Shot! I would have used it against robots, so...
Don't skip execute, mate. When it crits, it oneshots almost anything.

Compare the numbers: first hit is Execute crit, second just regular crit.

Lucky executes with Plasmagun and lot of buffs/debuffs can reach over 9000 points of damage.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
While I am sure that sounds like fun, it also seems like not required overkill. Even on Dominating, enemies didn't really have that many HP. And with Carnifex, I can just put a bear trap down and shoot him a few times instead of 2-shotting him.
I can always try it out and take it if I end up really liking it. Can always sacrifice pack rathound, especially since I won't be carrying 50000 grenades and 5000 bear traps anymore.

The reasons for those changes were a bit different. I can't say for sure what was going on during pre-alpha, but it seems to me that the removal of Charisma and Wisdom was mainly motivated by lack of uses for social stats in a combat-heavy game, not so much to streamline psi. The regen system was brought back (yes, back) to make psi costs meaningful; this both nerfed psi and nade it more interesting to play. Shroomhead got cut because it just didn't work with regen and it never worked well in the first place. It only encouraged degenerate gameplay like backtracking to shrooms after every fight.

Short history of psi:
2009-2012: Internal pre-alpha. Psi had 3 stats and regen. In hindsight, getting rid of 2 psi stats was a huge mistake. But it was done in very early development stage, the stat system back then was quite different.
2013-2014: Early public alpha. Will only, no regen, huge psi pool.
2015-2020: Late alpha to Underrail 1.2. The psi regen system most underrailers know. In hindsight, a long-term psi resource should've been added along with this system.
2020+: Vancian cave wizards.

Nice to see the full history of things, I can definitely imagine psi being even stronger at certain points.
I don't agree though that a secondary psi resource was necessary, magic in the vast majority of games is balanced with just one resource, whether it's a limited amount of casts or some type of mana. You certainly don't need two resources and also limits on what you can cast.

The path I would have taken is move more things to INT, so that only INT controls psi pool and psi regen and WIL has no effect on it at all, such that you want at least 10 in both and have to choose between magic power and stamina.
That is already more demanding than a guns build, where STR only needs to rise to 5-6-7 if that, and you can fully rely on PER as the main stat, raising it to 18 or some ridiculous amount, and the build works like a well-oiled machine with mostly dumped stats.

From there you can do a few more things if they're still necessary, like making Psychokinesis more reliant on Strength, so you can't have those 3,000 damage punches without investing in other stats, that type of thing.

On the topic of throwing & grenadier, does the critical chance from psychostatic electricity apply to grenades too? And does it add up with three pointer?

About to wrap up my full-lore run, finished my vacation in the Black Sea and now I'm checking off a grocery list of shit I'll need before I slog through Deep Caverns for the second time. After that I intend to fully transition over to Hard for awhile before getting into Dominating.

I'm workshopping a Cave Ninja build for my next go. High on Stealth and Crossbows, with Knives and TM thrown in to spice it up.

First Draft. I don't like the feat progression and I intend to siphon points from Biology into Throwing and some for Traps, I don't want anything for exotic than Bear Traps on this one. And do you guys know of a better cap for Persuasion and Mercantile? I think the only bonus for upping Mercantile past 120 is getting better Jet Ski prices.

And I fucked up Abram questline once again, this time in the very beginning, when he asks for info. Seems that playing drunk wasn't the best idea that evening. This is especially egregious because I started cave wizard especially for this stuff and Oculus mainframe.

Anyway, does anyone have the savegame of high Will character in Oculus, before interacting with the mainframe? I interested in that stuff and no way I gonna play another wizard.

Courtesy of the steam forums, which has some interesting lore discussions. I think it's missing the one for temporal psi, since oculus has a check for every school, but frankly I don't even remember what it was anymore.
Suspended in the middle of pyramid a massive glowing rock hums softly.
Focus your mind on the rock.
You clear you mind of other thoughts and focus just on the sound of the humming and its strange contours.
After a while the walls of the pyramid start moving away from you. At first slowly, but soon they begin accelerating. They escape faster and faster, moving light-years away from you, but somehow you can still see them.
Inversely, the rock shrinks to the sub-atomic size. You can no longer see its light, but you can still feel its presence though the humming.
In the vastness of space, surrounded by the pyramid’s walls, a storm of memory, knowledge, and visions rages around you.
Most of them seem to be well beyond your reach, but you might be able to glimpse into some of them.
1. Focus on two large objects revolving around one another.
As a Leviathan circles around a red planet, from half galaxy away an invisible spear is hurled. It warps the space-time as it races towards its target, dislodging planets and shattering stars. This tell-tale signs will arrive too late to warn the creature of its impending doom, though.
For this giants it is impossible to defend from the enemy who can kill by observing. The Eon of the Beast is over.
2. Focus on the nearby superheated object.
The egg is cold and dark on the outside, but as you pass the membrane you can see and feel the hot core within.
Immeasurable amounts of energy flow though the invisible network. So much more than they need to rule their domain, but not nearly enough to change their fate.
3. Focus on the pervading background waves.
Countless thoughts of Godmen race though your head as you let the waves pass though you, but you can only make sense of small fragments.
You sense their fear and wonder as they arrive close by. They lament as they learn their fate.
Morbid curiosity make them descend. You feel anger and hatred as they die. Three are now all that remain.

With a sickening screeching the space around you implodes, and just as quick as it expanded, the pyramid reverts back to its previous state.

Three are now all that remain.

Who's the third? Mystery left out for Infusion?

Infusion will have all the Answers.

But until then, feel free to wildly speculate. My bet's on either the Protectorate General or whoever Aran was working for.

Cheers!

Plenty of discussion over the years, but knowing Styg I'd not expect the next expansion to have the answer. Expect more mushroom-induced visions and lunatics poetry instead.

Apart from monolith visions, there is some interesting stuff in dude's ramblings. E.g. on the nature of crawlers, which is interesting considering the bugs constantly try to climb the oculus mainframe, even though the defense mechanism fries them.

Obviously, Al-Fabet. He just doesn't fully understand how human economic works.

I'm still disappointed there wasn't an option to give the Acorn to Fabet. I can not imagine a more worthy person to safeguard it from those who would use it for evil.

With the courtesy of some nameless fellow, fortunes of dominating quantity upon him. None of my characters had a will score higher than three. Six with his dimension-hopping buddies can eat bullets.
