The existence of aliens is hinted.

More than hinted, actually. As far as aliens as extra-Terrestrial go, I actually think they are 5-dimensional(1 dimension being time.)

Maybe epic battle against giant leviafan in the end,

Don't think that's possible. The Leviathans can control and corrupt us lesser mortal beings. The idea is heavily archetypal, but basically darkness and the unknown are part of everyone. Even the name ''Flottsormir'' is given to something greater out of lack of understanding.

3 for euclidean space, 1 for time.... what is the fifth?

Hardcore Lorenzian 4th. 4-space-dimensional beings would be able to travel in the 3 dimensions the same way Six zips around. In other words they would be able to insert themselves anywhere in the 3 dimensions with the help of the 4th. There's also the problem of how they would appear to look to others in the 3 dimensions, as well. But there's just something in the way ''The Higher Ones'' are described that makes me think they are not just aliens from another planet. Maybe I am wrong, though ;)

In Lovecraft tales humans can defeat elder gods missile boats and carriers, why cant we shoot missiles from jetskis at the unknown?

Well, I guess when it comes to video games the expectations are always bigger and badder enemies. But if UR does one thing it's to show the player that they are limited in more than one ways. There are, for example, psichers who far surpass the player's ability in ''cave magic.'' I know we can beat them, but lore-wise that's the case. Knowing that philosophy of game design I simply don't expect us to board some ''High Ones'' space vessel and bomb the big bad Serpent :D. Not saying it's bad, per se, just that I think it's more so unlikely.

Lovecraft himself dealt heavily in metaphor. He wrote before CG Jung, but you could, I suppose, say he was Jungian in some ways.

Is there a point killing everyone at the gray base?

Nope.

What's a good beginner build if you just kinda want to sneak around everywhere
I am playing heavy armor assault gun. Not sure about heavy armor though, probably would've been better as light armor stealth + speed magic one. Next game I am probably going to play as full psyker mindblaster.

AR tin can is widely accepted as the easiest and most painless way to play, if that's what you're looking for. Full psi used to come second on that scale, and probably remains there despite psi changes.

On Normal or even Hard, your build won't be totally fucked from one mistake, so you can look at the feats/stats/etc and look for natural synergies. Stealth as #1 priority probably means high AGI, Tailoring for tabi boots and other stealth-friendly equipment, and probably Hacking/Lockpicking. But what are you going to do with all that stealth for killing things? Could go full psi, could go sniper, could go melee, or other combinations. But best to pick one weapon type that you are going to excel in and not try to do eveyrthing. So if sniper, then there are natural stats (PER), feats, etc. related to that.

Always Play Oddity.

AR Tin Can = Assault Rifle, heavy metal armor?

being stealthy and stabbing enemies with a knife is the only way to play

Versatility combo of pistols and knives is the way

Finished the dlc. Rifts help a bit, so is not using full-auto on every trash enemy. The dlc is pretty easy to be honest. Will try it later on dominating later.

Good to hear you made it through. Try some different builds!

I am back in it fiddling with a juggernaut spear. I really wanted a 10con heavy armour shotgun maniac but once again just cant get into shotgun. Trouble now is whether to go all into riot shield and block feats, or stay tac/metal and focus on spear offense feats. Really remain suspicious that lumbering builds (not just high con but heavy armour 0 stealth) can do well.

Smooth swimming up to junkyard at least. rathounds more like chihuahuas.

Finished my Versatility Pistols+Knives build. Extremely potent thing, damage output is great and tons of options in combat. Tchort died in two turns on the third try. Overall, DC went extremely smooth this time - no problems at all. I spent the majority of the game after Depot A in Rathound Regalia, which is just too good. For other needs, the combo of Aegis helmet, CAU suit and Biohazard boots gives you 100% immunity to Acid and Bio damage - it's a total ignore of Deep Worms, most of shrooms in the Forest, Heartbreakers and Wyrms and such. Reached level 30 right before the Tchort - after repairing the gates.

My first run on Oddities and I like the system. It keeps you from overleveling, alright. Good stuff, but I'll stick to Classic, it's faster and allows for skipping some stuff if you still want those levels.

Great thing, recommend to everyone. Now I want to play tank, again.

Damn, you did all content, didn't you? I finished early lvl28 in my last playthrough. I probably missed a ton of oddities in Expedition (didn't do any base attacks or the Marsh).

I am playing a versatility firearm pistol build myself rn, but I am mostly wearing infused rathound leather (instead of regalia) for the crits.

Except the Gauntlet :smug:

I thought about that, but I had high crit chance already due to SI and Regalia is just too awesome. My standard set-up was Regalia, +18 googles and high-quality ninja tabis. Provides excellent mobility.

I really wanted a 10con heavy armour shotgun maniac but once again just cant get into shotgun.

I had a build I made for someone who asked the same - tank build with shogun. It had all tank feats except thick skull I think, and all major shotgun build. But was tricky to lvl up.
If you want I re-invent it.

Lol, as per advice here I tried to stay out of it in the 2nd base defense, so that Aegis lose a lot of troops (I am planning to join the Pirates). They lost ALL troops, apparently. I was chewing bubblegum way at the back while Aegis were getting slaughtered, but eventually the natives reached me and I had to fight. At that point there were still a couple of sec troops left, who conveniently died just before I killed the last native.

So unless there is someone roaming on a sea patrol, I am the last Aegis troop. No troop is walking around the camp. I asked Briggs about our status and he didn't give me a troop number, he only said "the situation is bad".

There are still the laborers, the researchers, Briggs, Tony, Marcus, and Seeger around. I am going to check whether there are any sea patrols. If there aren't, maybe I do not have to murder the rest.

Ha! I got Philosophy III, finally!
This time the ferryman told me that his name is
George Powell.
Does he give a different name each playthrough? Maybe I remember wrong, but I think he gave me a different name last playthrough.
