I watched a review that explained how idiotic and nonsensical it was from start to finish. Weiss and Benioff surprisingly only made it slightly more stupid in their braindead Netflix show.

I tried to get into the novels but it wasn't for me. From what I gathered, the series is something you read for the so-called "hard" science and more cosmic concepts like the Dark Forest and all that jazz.

I don't really find the Dark Forest and its reductionist game theory logic or whatever all that convincing.

If you're not going to invest in voice acting you shouldn't use first person. It's jarring when someone speaks right to your face and there's no sound.
I actually prefer it over voiced to be honest. Getting VO requires too many things (lip synching animation, etc), whereas my brain automatically starts voicing the lines.

VO does come with better profit margins, but I've never chased trends and I'd rather not get caught in the trap of changing the game to better cater to a casual audience. Even the switch to FPP is largely pragmatic, as I wanted more confined, narrow worldspaces whereas fixed isometric cameras usually demand larger, more open maps.

I think there may be hubs where there will be a overhead/iso perspective, and the reason for that is probably because the actual DAZ character models are very hard to properly import into Unreal. I checked and while there is a bridge, it doesn't seem like most devs are really interested in doing so.

God, this is going to be the most tryhard porn game ever.

Video games should ONLY be fully voiced when there is a minimum of dialogue. Sitting around waiting for voice actors to finish off the writers masturbating is death for enjoyment.

A good VA does elevate the work though. Like with HK47. Most of the character's awesomeness comes from the delivery of the lines rather than the text itself.

Yeah, basically:

Good VO> No VO > Bad VO

Which is why I'm not doing AI voice right now, as I've already tested it out, and it's just not ready yet.

If that changes I might come back to it.

Next thing we'll find out is that the gameplay has changed to become a blobber because of all the work done on the first person interface.

Very cool.
Interesting that you say the game will still remain turn-based. How exactly are you planning to reconcile that with the perspective change?
Will it just transition to a tactical view when you enter combat or are you going more the blobber route?
It'll transition to tactical view with an overhead free camera in combat. Basically what Archaelund does, although the combat system is very different (there's guns and cover and a different type of AP system).

Yeah. Only the player should be masturbating during one of these games!

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
3 pages of posts in basically a day since the engine change announcement/speculative reveal. Even on the codex, FPP gets people talking.

So, if I understand correctly, this will still be a mixed perspective game... exploration in first person and combat in isometric? Where does the adult stuff fit in?

In your hand, mostly. Two if you're gifted.

I mean, going from RPGMaker to Unreal is basically going from some weirdo's weeb porn game to something you might see get nasty headlines on Kotaku's front page.

It's a significant move.

Adult stuff is 100% the same as the old version, since it's independent of the engine. Still renders are in, possibly animated stuff if I have enough money. I would caution like with all my other games that the porn isn't going to be industry-leading stuff (or even especially good).

If you're saying "holy shit" I'm right there with you.

While watching the video I felt like I was there, in the cyberpunk world.
I actually prefere this perspective in exploration with kind of isometric combat like in Archaelund.
Will there be any interactive objects in exploration mode like in Duke Nukem 3D or Deus Ex?

The aliens were so powerful that they could’ve annihilated humanity as soon as their probes arrived, and they already intended to exterminate humanity when their fleet arrived, but didn’t because that would break the plot. This writing is so fucking stupid. I’m completely mystified that it gets any praise at all. Did IQs drop suddenly before it released or were humans always this laughably stupid?
Wasn't it because humanity was blackmailing the aliens that the aliens were forced to concede? If humanity was genocided, they would beam the location of the alien homeworld to a more powerful empire.
No, the blackmail came in after season 1/that part of the book. The probes are essentially omnipotent and can instantly kill all humans at any time, but don’t because that would break the plot. Their entire goal was to kill all humans and colonize Earth, but they hold the idiot ball because the author can’t think of a logical plot.

I tried to get into the novels but it wasn't for me. From what I gathered, the series is something you read for the so-called "hard" science and more cosmic concepts like the Dark Forest and all that jazz.

I like Golden Age scifi that explores philosophy, morality and technology. It’s classic for a reason.

The problem with 3Body is that the author cannot actually write believable intelligent beings or coherent plots at all. The story is just an afterthought and he’s only interested in presenting his pet solution to the Fermi paradox.

How does this shit book get so much praise? Oh right, humans are the same species that greenlit a Twilight tv show a decade after the movies ended.
