Someone fill me in about Cara Ellison and why she's gonna ruin the game please
I remember her quite fondly when I was reading RPS 5 years ago. Don't know about her later endeavours, but she was entertaining to read. Go burn me at a stake.

She got the developers of Hotline Miami 2 to cut a scene from their game and then subsequently banned in Australia once.
Did anyone who mentioned it actually played Hotline Miami 2? The scene is in the game. Not sure if they changed it somehow, but judging from the article about preview/demo, they haven't. There's an option to disable strong content when you start campaign, but that's it.

It's going to be shit, you all know it's going to be shit, and you don't need me to tell you it's going to be shit.

Name me a single instance where a cult game released decades prior suddenly got a sequel and was good.

Promises don't mean shit.

Deus Ex Human Revolution was enjoyable.
That alone destroys your reasoning.

We won't know till we play it.
Do not hope for anything about it. It could be a shit game... as much as it could be a masterpiece. Just analize it when it is released. So far we cannot tell. We have not even seen any gameplay yet!

Just give them one opportunity instead of accepting failure as only option. We could be surprised.
If the game turns out to be shit... do not worry because RPG codex will write thousands of books criticizing it.

I think the unused tracks were released just a few years ago by Rik Schaffer, and perhaps Wesp5 had something to do with it as well?

Indeed I stumbled upon some unused tracks and emailed him for permission to use them in the patch. He latter send me everything else he got :)!

Some time ago I read somewhere Schaffer said he would never return to Bloodlines or anything related to that...

I think he once said that he wouldn't be able to do the same kind of music as he was so down at the time. But then Bloodlines 2 is another game and needs other music!

You are correct! My bad, I am too old. My memory is not the same anymore.

Wesp5 You're probably the most famous figure in the Bloodlines community. You've been interviewed alongside Brian Mitsoda. I'm curious, were you told anything about this game before it was announced?

I doubt the nu-fags at Hardsuit know much about the actual community and just targeted 'social influencers' or whatever the fuck they call those e-beggars.

Uh... he said give an example where the game was released DECADES PRIOR. Pretty much all of those games the sequel followed within a couple of years and was done by nearly the same developer teams. This is an entirely different situation.

King's Bounty.
I will accept that answer. However, it's a lot easier to replicate a game like King's Bounty than a game heavily reliant on narrative/quest writing and level design like Bloodlines.

I'm glad you folks are finally blackpilling yourselves about actual details.

Fat Larry?
Hopefully Fat Larry is back on the sequel

Doubt it, too "racist."

WTF is this shipping shit?

Relationships, what fandom does to the characters of their choice.

If it offends nobody, it's not a VtM game.

It looks very much like Mitsoda & co are dead set on not offending anybody.

Not entirely accurate. I'm certain they will definitely try to offend Drumpfkins, Nazis, GooberGrapers, and the like.

Also Spellforce 3, it was released 12 years after Spellforce 2 and (by what I've heard and read, and a bit played) it's actually better than the previous titles.

Yes, I was shown the intro and tutorial during a video web session at the end of January already, but I signed a NDA not to tell anyone before the announcement! Paradox is pretty much aware that the UP kept Bloodlines alive so they want to get the patch credits into Bloodlines 2 :). Also they warned me about interviews that might be upcoming, but what I would really like to do is taking part in beta testing the game so there won't be any need for a patch latter ;)!

WDYM? Dark Messiah of Might & Magic was fun!
Unless your reflexes got rusty then it's time to work on that :smug:

Missed this. In the immortal words of Josh Sawyer
I feel that a 1st person perspective will always handicap melee. The biggest problems are low situational awareness (due to the proximity of enemies and the limitations of FoV -- in fact the DMoMM designer admitted that enemies effectively hold back when out of view to deal with this problem), poor readability of your own character's attacks (for the same reason), and poor depth perception (a DMoMM designer admitted that their hit detection effectively "cheats" to help the player).

I sort of view first-person melee like turbine-powered motorcycles. You can make a well-executed turbine-powered motorcycle. Unfortunately, turbines are poorly suited for the sort of use that motorcycles actually see in most applications. DMoMM was the most viscerally satisfying first-person melee I've seen yet, but I found it frustrating to actually play.

They don’t count, everybody does.

I think the only one who could pull off writing a 2019 VtM game is ContraPoints. She is a perfect yet self-aware incarnation of the Zeitgeist, minus the bit about being constantly offended. And she digs vampires.

Contrapoints is as bit of a performative woke preacher now that she got famous. Making 400k+ a year from youtube videos while acting as moral authority. I doubt it would be much better than whatever is going to come out.

Can't wait to fight the patriarchy with my powerful night creature, because within the Masquerade, with such political tensions in the underground world... My first concern as a vampire is to be sure that faggots in Islam aren't stoned anymore.

And you know about it,how.....

GamerGate: The SJW in Gaming Dumping Ground

Here so far, except in one-two isolated cases I didn't hear name-drop of RPG and role-playing in all of their press releases.

It's funny though, that one of their comments about choices and consequences reads like a dig at the second last Deus Ex.

I never heard of Cara Ellison before yesterday ... a quick search shows her main thing is analyzing storytelling in games and how to make it work, which seems like exactly what we should want in a writer.

Except she is clearly no gamer in the classical sense. Remember when those developers were writing their own adventures and stories? Makes you wonder how gaming has matured in the last two decades with those professional writers.

Now come on, I, for one, look forward to see what cut content you'll restore :smug:
