Since when is Vampire supposed to take place in the real world?

Since Brian wrote a Bush joke into Bloodlines.

I started reading from page 83. Took like a week or so. Finally caught up to you. Damn what a journey. Depressing and funny at the same time. Well...more on the depressing side. So uhhh.....yeah.

New topic: what elements of the setting would you like to see the game touch on?

It sounds like there will be a blood hunt, and a werewolf is a given. Personally, I would like to see less of werewolves and more of the other source books.

Perhaps a subplot about an elder that only drinks vamp blood would also be interesting.

Maybe the Mages, since the Tremere are based on them? Otherwise, quests about how modern technology screws the Vampires over, since this was a big theme that barely got scratched by the first game (because we didn't have the technology back then. Remember those big monitors :D?).

"Lads, have you learned nothing about this forum? This is the Codex! They are the equivalent of Fox News and redneck morons in gaming forums. Their whole existence is predicated on spreading fear and paranoia. The only difference is that instead of being tied to the outdated beliefs in God, family, country, they believe in combat systems, stats, learning curves and neutral apolitical stories. We need to be patient with them and treat them as uneducated children. We will guide them to the light even if they don’t know it yet".

I’m fine. I’m just trying to describe things from a developer’s librul enlightened perspective.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Yes, they can get erect.

Ok, even though we've talked about this extensively, I wonder why, there are some new thoughts I have that may seem interesting. First of all, if we are going to go by the lore and by the most drama potential, we have to say that the physical side of sex means nothing and it doesn't feel different than being touched on any other part of your body. This is mostly a curse, not a better form of being a human. When we remove the biological drive for having sex, but also taking into account what it does for the vampire outside of strengthening social relationships, what is left is the purely intellectual desire for some kind of intimacy that they try to fulfill with sex. The vampires are hollow husks in terms of emotions, they don't feel anything apart from the hunger for blood, the instinct of self-preservation, and some form of emotional and physical orgasm when they bite someone, so the act of sex itself is purely a mechanical exercise, no more pleasurable than holding hands. This can be great drama potential, the vampire that longs for the thrills s/he is now denied, like Don Giovanni, yearning for love that doesn't exist. Engaging in sex is a vain attempt at recapturing something. Or a way to explore different kinds of intimate relationships that don't rely on sex or emotions.

The lore has a kind of workaround - the Blood Bonds. The only way for a vampire to feel just a slight echo of emotional intimacy, it isn't like being a human, but it's through the only thing vampires have, blood. It's infinitely faint, though, it's not "just as good as the real thing" and that's also great drama fodder. It might be confused with love, it's like seeing love through the shards of a broken mirror, but it might convince some vampires it's real and they can feel something. I don't know why I want to repeat that this is and should be a curse. This is why vampires become alien in their mindsets after a while, they completely forget what it was like to feel anything outside of hunger. Vampires might also try to have sex with one another and drink blood from each other's genitals, like a mockery of the human act.

Thanks for the reply - I knew I shouldn't have asked.
So essentiall you're saying that WW just wants vamps to get a stiffy because it would be embarassing for everyone to play an all-poweful vamp with erectile dysfunction? If they can't even fire blanks, I also wonder what purpose there is in the simulation of the act... I suppose it could be classed as a controlling feature for blood-bonded ghouls under their command, but the fleshcrafting stuff seems more appealing by the day...get some hydrolics in there at least.

I want to see just more of what we saw in Bloodlines. More Pisha and flesh eaters, expand on the Kue-jin lore perhaps, more ghosts, devils (like the shopowner in Chinatown), more weird occult stuff. The weirder the better really, to really dig into Seattle's underbelly and see all the crazy things that go on with vampire culture. More shapeshifters, werewolves are okay I guess, they don't excite me much. More Tzimisce for sure, and all their weirdness. Expand on Nosferatu lore and have a base of theirs that actually seems like their real dwellings. They have a huge palette to work with and can really tap into it from a lot of different angles.

They can ejaculate blood. There's really no real reason for vampires in WoD to have sex, so they mostly don't. Torries are notorious for getting it on more frequently than other vampires, but it's still rare among them. Biting each other would be a far more intimate act than sex could ever be for them. They might try to recreate the experience of being alive, but ultimately it's a hollow endeavor.

Hmmm. All that kinkiness in the IP going to waste. Or being overseen by liberal morons that would put their politics before creativity. I have a glimmer of hope for this game, but I'm long past day 1 purchases because of the people involved. Sorry Mitsoda/Avellone.
