Gating content behind the old vampire rule of not being able to enter areas unless invited showed that they’ve got some level of creativity. Don’t expect anything close to Troika but I think this could still be a decent game.

So, 3 years have passed and apparently they did nothing to make combat actually good.
Maybe they put their effort into something else.
But then again it's possible that their "non-linearity" is just 2 different endings like High/Low Chaos from Dishonored.

They promised that in Remember Me you will be able to manipulate people's memories.
But it turned out that there are only like 3 times in the whole game where you can do that, all of it is scripted, and they already spoiled 2 of them during the marketing campaign.

I'm sure all the results of your decisions are scripted, because of course they are. They aren't going to build a procedural simulation.

I expect high reactivity, but even if it's minimal, the decisions of who to kill and who to spare are inherently high-stakes. I don't need a separate cutscene ending to make me feel weird about eating a schoolteacher for xp or letting a wifebeater live because he funds a homeless shelter.

I still cannot get over the artificial feeding rules and I doubt the game is going to explain it in satisfactory ways.

Tragic how they're still not able to make a vampire game that's not about combat. Sounds like this is making the same mistakes that VtM:B did.

In VtM:B everything that was about intrigue, backstabbing, betrayal, was awesome, and everything that was about wading through an army of mooks was a let-down. It's strange how they don't have the courage to make a game where fights are few and far between even when the premise absolutely demands it.

Even stranger when you remember that this game is being developed by the Life Is Strange guys.

Vtmb did have some shitty combat level design. The snuff tape house was fun,the haunting mansion and the lunatic's mansion are good levels, also the Italian mobster vampire gathering was interesting until you get in the basement. As a whole it was 50/50 split, half of them were long and boring slog, still have horrors about the tedious sewers.

If this game turns out to be incredible eurojank, I'll eat my hat. But these people made Remember Me and Life Is Strange so I think that's a safe bet to make.

I can't but help but think Vampyr is going to be one of those games where it isn't fulfilling to be evil, and they're going to force some lose:lose situations for moral players that's going to be praised as 'groundbreaking.'

Good thing this game is coming a few days after new Path of Exile league so I won't get the itch to try it as I am sure it will be crap.
