Tried WOT didn't, like then tried WT much like was had. Mind you the gamer ain't perfect and Snail tries to figure ways to get shekels off people. But to be honest you dont need premium vehicles unless you're a collector. Honestly, War Thunder gives me a model collector sim where you can use your models against other players. Mind you there is the Russian bias for obvious reasons, but it's less impacting than you think.
But yes the grind is real, personally, I enjoy low to mid-tier, high tier has fancy stuff, but seems to become more of a sniper duel.
Since I did the crafting event for Object 279 and Merkava 3D I will say never again to that, could not care about T-72 Moderna, since it seems they are giving a lot of good vehicles away as squadron vehicles now.

Also this rabbit hole introduced me to Enlisted, surprisingly fun, and no need to pay although they want players to shill out for Stalingrad which most dont.

PS. Something important I noticed unlike some F2P games, they put out a lot of content in short time and I mean there is a lot of it every ear recently. Compare this to Warframe or Mech Warrior Online.

actually warframe gets regularly new content. only problem is it all sucks. one of the latest has been "we heard your plea for more crowd control over pure damage, so we introduced this tough mob which makes all the others immune to crowd control".

Dunno man, this Russian-bias thingy is IMO blown out of proportion - my T72B blows up on the first hit like 9 times out of 10, usually after getting the first hit on a Leo 2 or Abrams which doesnt do jack. But otherwise I agree with what you said. The grind is huge and high-tier games can lose you huge amounts of in-game currency, especially if you get an unlucky streak. I recommend keeping at least one national tree as a secondary option at low tier (I personally use the French with battle rating 2.3 - the 105 mm Sherman can be a decent money maker) to recover what you lose and invest with your primary tree.

That said, I got to the top of Russian tree without spending any money on the game, it took me 1019,6 hours over several years though.

The soviet shells for WWII era were completely fucked and OP when I played it. Never got to cold war as I didn't have 2000 hrs to sink into it.

The main thing that protects Russian Cold War era tanks and up are their whacky angles that bounce a lot of stuff off of them. On the other hand if you do manage to penetrate in 95% of the cases it's an outright kill.

How good are the Chinese tanks in WT? (Same question for WoT Chinese tanks for those that play that.)
There's lot of copypasta from US and Russia but overall feels like they are somewhere in 5th or 6th in performance-wise. So not bad, not too good, nothing too OP at moment.

Still, there were few interesting developments recently regarding China and you can never have enough drama.

Ah yes, the good old times of 80+% win rates with my tier 2 T-34 (got a talisman drop for it too ) in teams consisting almost exclusively of tier 2 T-34s using ammo that had pretty good penetration and enough TNT in it to make any enemy vehicle blow up like a MOAB went off inside it.

i didn't know this game got a new expansion right the day i redownloaded it, like i predicted i'd have done. i had some days on world of warplanes again first, and oh god the grind is terrihorribad after tier 4 (out of 10), it just stops. well, i went back to war thunder and tier 1 is pretty much triple or quadruple wowp's tier 4 grind.
wowp is retarded in needing several seconds of continuous fire to kill anything (while people who paid will make mincemeat of you in two seconds. in war thunder i keep dying because a single random wandering shot randomly hit my pilot.
i can feel the extra chromosomes flowing strong through both games, and it's a shame.

I quite like this game but play it too sparingly to get any progress on the tech tree. If I could pay full price for the game and have premium time always activated I would. Unfortunately, the only permanent bonus you can buy is a premium vehicle. Since there is a 10 year anniversary sale going on, I thought about buying the Su-7BMK; people used to say it was very good for braindead grinding but apparently it has fallen off in the last year, facing superior jets in its tier (also no more air spawn, no more base wipe with a single loadout). That said, the game is still very enjoyable at lower tiers.

holy shit, did they really make the f-104 the top italian jet? do you know what's that plane famous for? two feats:
-losing its wings. they literally rip away, you're turning and suddenly your wings "no can do man" and fly away from you.
-when you use onboard guns while the afterburner is on, power can't keep up and everything shuts down.

Premium is a must in the game, you'll get nowhere without it.

Piss funny as they market it as a modern warfare sim when it'll take people years to get there. Back in the day we all hoped gayjin would rescue us from Wargaming, yet they turned the assrape up to a whole 'nother level.

Russian faggots.

meanwhile, i discovered how to stop sucking: cockpit view. i went from 0-1 kills per game to 5-7. the problem now is controls: while in cockpit i can't reliably turn, i must keep dragging the mouse on and on and for this i can't hit shit while turning. isn't there a way to make controls more like freespace?

Gayjin by be bad but Wargaming is on another plane of existence when it comes to fucking up. They absolutely ran World of Warships into the fucking ground with their retarded decisions.

why? i spent the last 24 hours downloading it (and i'm still 27%)
They main problem is that they forcefully introduced reworked-carriers and subs to a game that didn't need them. Both classes aren't fun to play and also aren't fun to play against... and they wasted 3 years on implementing them. WoWs hasn't seen a new map snice 2 years because they spent all that time on making classes nobody even wants to play. What's even more ludicrous is that carriers and subs are the so called "protected" classes. Around 3 years ago carriers could attack other carriers, but that's not the case anymore, since WG gave carriers insane AA, so no enemy plane can approach them. The same goes for subs against carriers, because they have an automatic ability that deletes a sub that gets too closed.

shame. but can it really be worse than war thunder's? it's just not fun having to wait 30 seconds for the target to be locked, i still have trouble understanding when i'm allowed to launch torpedoes, and the only truly fun ships, the light and fast ships, are only the very first you get, anything else is a slog.

Man SturmTigor is really a derp gun, still amusing when you do get kills. Funny that Gajin thought Russia was doing so bad so they introduced the Begleitpanzer equivalent with darts premium BMP. Still Im glad you can turn off your brain in naval AB and just print SL there.

yeah, but they still don't fire.
meanwhile i've been entertaining myself with world of warships. simple, straightforward, it doesn't require a phd in mathematics to land a hit, torpedoes launch wherever i tell them to. carriers oh god suck so much, why waste half an hour with a thousand bombings when a single destroyer can do the same with a single torpedo salvo 10 times better and 10 times faster? still working toward submarines. real shame there's the italian navy but it lacks both.

i must say it.
our civilization is ready for "world of spaceships". small ships are played like warplanes (3d, respawn), big ships are played like warships (2d, no respawn).
let's use all the computing power we own, shall we? tanks on the ground, warships in low orbit, warplanes can help with either's objectives.
hell, i can't see a single reason why this wouldn't be a huge success, especially since you can sell an endless stream of virtual ships, as scam citizen taught us.
