There's a group on facebook whose posts keep showing up on my feed, something like 'Warhammer 40k - fascist free zone' and they don't seem to get the inherent irony in that at all. A bunch of left-leaning antisocial shut-in fags and trannies idolizing space nazis.
I believe you're thinking of "3D printing for WH40K - Facist Free Zone". So it's not even a place where people discuss 40K lore, just talking about how to print toy soldiers so you can play 40K without paying a small fortune to GW.

If you feel the need to tell imaginary bad men to stay away in the title of your facebook group, you might want to speak with a psychiatrist about your paranoid delusions.

Outside of some aesthetics, the main governmental structure of the Imperium of Man bears little resemblance to any of the fascist regimes of history. If anything, the IoM is more a theocratic feudal federation with a very high bureaucratic, strong-armed administrative side. It's like somebody mashed together Imperial China (possibly the Three Lords, Nine Ministers administrative period? I'm not well-versed on Chinese history) and the Catholic church.

Despite any critique towards 40K, I rather have a game in this setting than in Golarion.
I'd rather have a good game. Not having Tolkien-esque fantasy is a nice change of pace but without good game it means nothing.

We have so many great settings, Dark Sun, Midnight, Realms of Dread(...) yet 99% of RPGs are in generic sword coast/golarion land.

I think more decentralised than that. Imperium, afaik, has planets with literally all imaginable types of internal governments, economic development, social structures. etc... - and most of those are governed semi-independently. They contribute to war effort, they "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" but they are not directly ruled by centralised bureaucracy. There might be strong administration but the Empire is too big to be ruled directly from a single point no matter what and can only exist as a federation. Not loose in all areas though. There is for example an official religion that every world must follow. That is how i understand it.

Alpha was fucking great.
So now they have a lot of time to add tons more of bad writing and some useless bloat. Also more pronouns, gay people, trans people, shit succubi chaos demons* and more...
:bounce:

I'm joking. Or at very least I hope that I am.

*This last one wouldn't be that far fetched in the setting - as long as it would be Grandpa Nurgle's.

40K is a dumb setting full of dumb edgelordy shit except for lulzy stuff like the greenskins. Change my mind.
It is a dumb setting based on the pop culture representations of it but there is a deeper context to it that most people dont see because they just pay attention to things like the orks and rarely dig much deeper.
Examples:
The Emperor was a being that had demigod like powers but he didnt wish for people to worship him, he thought that depending on gods was a weakness to mankind, he wished to create an Empire that was based purely on intellectual knowledge, he thought he could guide humanity to it through a Great Crusade that could unite the different and scattered human colonized worlds into a single body, however, the very nature of him concentrating power and leadership on himself made humanity, ironically made humanity too dependent on him.

Once he "died", the Empire risked imploding, and a religion was formed to prevent that, where, ironically, he is worshipped as a God. His failure was that human beings arent purely intellectual things and we are driven by emotions not purely intellectual constructs, the intellectual constructs are just a post facto rationalization to cover us from seeing our shortcomings.

Ironically, that religion is what keeps the Empire from imploding as it is that justify the immense sacrifices to keep it running, but keeping it has many, many costs, like stifling innovation and destroying freedom. On the Empire, you are a slave, a part of the machine, nothing more, if someone decides you are going to spend the rest of your life on a coal mine, you have zero recourse against it.

The chaos gods arent Evil, they are representations of humanity shortcomings created on the warp, Nurgle, for example, represents desease and decay, ironically it also rewards his followers with the end of pain, they cant feel pain anymore. Each God has a chaotic side and a good side, even if twisted, each rewards their followers with some type of "freedom" that the Empire doesnt provide, they represent the repressed animalistic tendencies of humanity on 40k.

So the Empire, is a rusted and dying machine created with the best intentions but that ended petrified trying to do what it takes to survive, 40k is a highly pessimistic setting, ironically, comedy relief and over the top designs have the goal of creating a style that is easy to identify and also to not go fully edgy depressive stuff, that grimdark background contrasts well with the over the top shit. It ends being unique because of it.

Of course, many people dont like it and would disagree with me but for me, personally, on this day and age where uniqueness is anathema and you must regurgitate the same shit everyone is doing, that alone is worthy something.
Sure, cool. Show me where that gets represented in any product that non-diehard fans would be exposed to. For instance, Dawn of War.
To me, video games are a lost cause, there are books upon book upon books that would make for absolute incline if they were taken as inpiration for a TB strategy, RTS or RPG, unfortunately, most studios take the setting and writing less serious than a porn movie producer, so I fully expect the most pedestrian takes forever.

I am consistently reminded that if I'm ever successful, it would be hilariously ironic.
So called "AAAAAAAAAA" industry is getting their bar so low now, that even an adult game dev will look at them with distain soon enough.
Which would be hilarious considering how many of AO game devs simply scam idiots dumb enough to be "backers", that give their money for empty promises. Either running with the shekels they have got, or giving subpar product to upheld a contract that state that some product must be delivered, which include totally unplayable broken and unfinished shit.

Best of luck anyway. Any good games you will manage to create, is net positive.

That said, I wonder what kind of regressive cancer we will get in RT, we already have a fucking tranny in the their latest game; if I will be bossed around by stronk yndependend w*men of shitskin, while working with bunch of literal faggots, lesbos and god knows what else. Like I am in a damn Slaaneshi cult, in a fucking W40K RPG where I play as a Rouge Trader, I think I will suffer from a mental breakdown.

I dunno, the optimistic side of me says that not even Owlcat is that tonedeaf to what a Warhammer 40k audience would want. And the intial impressions seem to be good.

But the cynical side of me can read a calendar and see that it is 2023.

I don't think anyone really 'made' the emperor either?
Depends which theory of "How Emperor came to be" you subscribe to.
Two most popular are:
1. Bunch of primitive yet powerful shamans after bunch of magical shroms started to notice what a cluster fuck warp is becoming, and they noticed that some of their kin didn't come back and their souls were eaten, so to save themselves and humanity, they committed mass suicide ritual, to connect their souls in the warp into one being. And viola you have Emperor.
2. One of the few remaining Old Ones saw just what a shithole of Galaxy they have created for younger races, and before dying out/running to where the surviving Old Ones went, took pity on human race and ascended one of them to a being on similar evolutionary stage as themselves, so humans may have some chance to survive.

Second option make more sense to me, and would explain as to why you don't have other races running around with their own emperor type of beings.
Though, I like that GW leave this muddy only hinting that some of these theories may be true. At least they used too, I heard that newest edition and HH Books shat on Emperor's lore hard.
I heard that after retcon he's not even the creator of Astartes/Space Marines(That retarded name just so GW niggers have something to trademark), some random whamyn created them instead and her last name was Astartes. So they called them that in her honor.
So W40K and warhammer's fandom have interesting times ahead of them. Gif related.

I didn't know about the Astarte change, but i remember they did something similar to the Land Speeder and Land Raider where Land is actually the last name of the inventor.
Can't wait the introduction of Bob Bolter

Yeah this is a bit of convention in 40K naming - Land Raiders and Land Speeders - the guy who found the STC schematics for them was called Land. Lehman Russ has a tank named after him for the same reason, Titans, Astarte being the "mother" of space marines etc...

Anyway. Here is an artwork for forge worlds (Kiava looks like this in game):

ForgeWorld_1.jpg

...and agri worlds (ie Janus ingame):

I don't know the background of this Janus world but it looks completelly the opposite how an agri-world should look like like

Thats because the parts you get to visit are the governor´s palace and wilderness taken over by Eldar. The actual production of food happens elswhere on the planet.

So just got my alpha access and so far the game is great when it comes to atmosphere and characters.
Though I think I found a lesbo(not sure yet) a cold trader female. If true, well at least you have the option of executing her, instead of dealing with her/forcing her into your service.
Also anybody know how to join chaos?
Or rather where that path starts?

What about the combat? How many bolter rounds in the face you can take before dying? Are the enemies super buffed like in the Pathfinder games and lastly, how does the itemization works?
