well this game screams Vaporware anyway so it's all pointless discussion now.

The game is already funded by some rich guy. If it is going to end up vaporware, it won't be for the lack of a budget.

So they were treated as men by NPCs; stick some boobs to PC model and you can have both wymynz and realism in game. :troll:

Actually they could, and add the minimally necessary amount of content and plot adjustments for the game to recognise your character's gender when it fits the context.

There are so many new Skyrims on the horizon (DA3, Witcher 3) that I am not really interested in this game. Honestly, one Skyrim was enough. CryEngine sounds cool, but I've never been a fan of 'medieval realism' or whatever, so I will probably wait until the game is finished, then read Codexian reviews and decide is it worth pirating or not. Also, episodic shit.

Didn't the devs appear on the Codex quite some time ago, trying to "pitch" and "test" the audience here? What happened then? Did the Codex make them go away? I remember some arguing (probably Codex mocking their popamole designs etc.) and the guy left or what? What happened?

I've yet to donate to any kickstarters and don't intend to (at least for video games that are undeveloped), but I'm curious: Does Kickstarter handle any currency conversions, or do any CC fees on foreign currency apply?
The payment is done via Amazon's checkout service. They charge you the amount you have pledges and the exchange is handled by your bank.

Actually in this case (UK KS), it does not go through Amazon payments. You need to insert credit card number manually. If it was based on US KS the pledges would be even higher, probably.

Oh, you're right. I must have pledged to something on the UK KS before (no idea what, probably something that failed), so it did not ask me for card information anymore. It should work similarly though.

Dan Vavra was interviewed and then grilled here:
http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/inde...x-interview-dan-vávra-warhorse-studios.80471/

It was a lot of fun and ended amicably I feel.

I wonder for those who were laughing about using Inverse Kinematics for a combat, does it still seem laughable ?
Because to me, from those few scenes in the trailer (and I think video detailing combat system is on its way), it actually seems like the most interesting first person melee system I have ever seen. Better than Dishonored and Dark Messiah (have not played Chivalry yet).

The problem is the way Dan Vavra put his Inverse Kinematics forward in that thread was quite fucking retarded, to the point of negating and pissing on the foundation of all Roleplaying (see his comments about dice rolls and character skill) and praising gimmicky shit like Inverse Kinematics to be the chief reason for a game to exist, not vice versa. He had a major problem in communicating his ideas in addition to having shitty ideas on the side, which made a fatal mix and he got grilled quite deservedly for that.

And a movie made for PR purposes was everything you needed to know all this? The only reason Daniel Vavra is even commented in here because Mafia was a great game but Mafia 2 was full of retardation and based on his recent dumbfuck declarations...
Think a little: Scenario A Daniel Vavra is in debt with Russian mobster and he is going to make a ultra awesome and complex melee system that only a few people is going to enjoy, russian mobster break his legs.
Scenario B: Daniel Vavra is in debt with Russian mobster,he show beautiful PR video and get kickstarter money then proceed to make a moron proof melee system, full of disguised QTE, scripted and cinematic moves in first person that is going to make the 20 million Skyrim fans get all excited. Daniel Vavra and russian mobster get money, buy a lot of vodka and hire ukranian supermodels as escort on their parties as they got a lot of money.

This going to be Skyrim without fantasy and made by not so retarded people, it is a hiking simulator. Like to walk around, seeing authentic medieval architecture and wondered how Skyrim quests would be if they weren't made by retards?Okay... but I really don't buy his hype about the battles/sieges/melee combat...

What the fuck are you even babbling about ? Just pure nonsense. What russian mobster ? What the what ?
First off, obviously I judged just from the provided few seconds of footage. We will know more later when they release combat video and even better, in 6 months alpha.
Second, there is no russian mobster you dumb fuck. Bakala is a czech bussinessman who made a normal investment into Warhorse, contracts and all. And Vavra has complete creative direction over the game.

Glad you linked to that thread as I had totally forgotten it and had thought about pledging. Re-reading it I remembered this post by Dan Vavra:

Dexter: I totally disagree with Avellone (and he is one of my favorite designers of all time) opinion on controllers and I think that its totall BS. Only major thing that is more complicated with joypad is typing and in most games its only used to write your name at the beginning. In poorly designed inventories, mouse might be easier, but for example inventory I designed for our game could be fully controlled by joypad, you could have hundreds of items, sort them by different attributes etc and there is no problem. In a party RPG, it could be a challenge to come up with a good mechanism to switch characters and contrl them, but its possible. I was designing a XBLA strategy game with many units and came up with very quick and intuitive way how to control them. Its also worth considering, that new consoles will probably come up with new control mechanisms - WiiU would be great for strategy and RPG games thanks to its tablet, PS4 may have touchpad etc. Blaming controllers as a source of bad design is simply just an excuse. Period.

Console controller game not for me.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, the game will support mouse and keyboard just as well as controller. At least that was confirmed in Level magazine. Maybe Dan can chime in ?

9 years of lurking and seeing some of the most horrifying things ever said on the internet and debts with a russian mobster made you register?

Actually one of evdk posts made me register, one I felt the need to correct xkcd style.

9 years of lurking and you don't yet understand that it's not about "support", it's about design. The inputs, the menus, the controls, the balancing. A game designed primarily for a DualShock is very different from one primarily designed for KB&M.
It depends how they design it, sure. Though personally I would not mind focus on controller, seeing as I play most PC games these days from couch on 55" TV.
