Doesn't even need to be limited to the sea, like Ecco. In an alternate take on the love story, the redhead turns into a human when exploring the islands and back into a mermaid when returning to the ocean. Since she will be bottomless after touching land, just make her topless underwater too, like in the original tale. No continent. A continent would have ruined The Wind Waker.
Tbh I wouldn't mind a RPG where you roleplay as Simba and control a whole pride of lions, but I'd like to have the ability to fuck Nala. Also it would be pretty cool if Simba could turn into a human. Throw in some homosexual romances too.
My Little Mermaid game wouldn't be based on Disney's movie. Story would be different from the original fairytale, but she would still turn to foam.
Isn't that Bloodborne?
Can't remember.

Nothing ever even came close to the pure genius that was Dark Souls II. And then just like that, with Dark Souls III, they removed all the things that made Dark Souls II a masterpiece, paving the way to the genericized soullessborne formula that became the par-excellence normie slop with Elden Ring

I'm not a fan so far. Too many encounters with high numbers of mobs. The areas feel disconnected from each other. Progression feels pretty linear with little choice of where to explore. I don't like having to level separate attributes for stamina and equip load. Agility is a dumb idea and means you have to sink extra points into the attributes it derives from before you can spare points for Faith/Int. The combat feels floaty and lacks weight. I can't quite put my finger on it but something about the overall atmosphere of the game seems off and it's not immersing me. Reduced health from hollowing makes death more frustrating than it should be, especially since you're probably going to die quite often when learning a level. Overall, I think it's the worst of the three FromSoft games I've tried.

I assume you're playing Scholar? The mob thing is an issue with that version.

Progression isn't linear at all. Dark souls 2 has the most potential 2nd bosses in the dark souls series. Once you know where to look you have like 30 2nd bosses you can choose from. A lot of the paths are quite hidden or require you to backtrack in ways you wouldn't normally do to open but they're there.

The atmosphere is intentionally dream like in many cases. It's a story about going hollow and trying to prevent it so a lot of elements come off very dream like. It's understandable if you don't like it but it's strange you think things lack weight.

Dark souls 2 stat distribution is intentionally more RPG like than the other souls games. Assuming you came from later entries you could basically max any stats you wanted with little sacrifice. 2 really tries to make you pick where to put your souls so you can't build a full faith/str build with no sacrifices. If you want some faith/int it's going to cost you some where else.

Yeah, I'm playing Scholar of the First Sin. Some of these mob spammy encounters are annoying and runbacks seem to be very difficult to achieve without consuming a lot of resources. I just end up killing everything on the way to the boss fights which is pretty tedious but if I don't I often end up getting gangbanged/backstabbed on my way through.

I just finished DS: Prepare to FAP before playing this. It had its issues (particularly clunky controls, sometimes weird collision detection pushing the player off ledges, terrible platforming) but so far I prefer the poise system from DS1 and the combat felt more weighty. The encounter design was also superior by a considerable margin. I'm not even going to get into the disparity of area interconnectivity is between the two games.

If you kill enemies 7 times and you're not in the champions covenant they stop spawning. It's essential for some of the later run backs even if it's tendious. Scholar seems balanaced around that more.

Poise was pretty busted so if you liked it I can see why that's an issue. Big swords still feel pretty weighty and the turtles are heavy as fuck.

I personally never cared that areas didn't line up perfectly. Most of them are enjoyable areas to explore which I value more over interconnectivity. There's still some great places if you can overlook the issues in connecting them.

I like DS2 for what it is, but it was rushed as hell and is very rough around the edges, not helped by SotFS making encounters worse than they are in vanilla. Still, if you stick with it, some of the levels and bosses are quite good, and oneshotting fuckers with two oversized weapons feels great.

i-it's not a rushed game, it's... it's dreamlike! it's stylistically designed to be that way!
No one said the game wasn't unfinished, but many areas do have a very vague and dreamlike feel to them. Huntsmans corpse feels really dreamy.
