On the first day of Gamescom, Brother None gave to me...three new Wasteland 2 screenshots showing the Desert Rangers engaged in tactical combat against the vicious Red Skorpion (or is it Scorpion?) Militia. Check 'em out:

I've also gotten word that our official Gamescom delegates, Grunker and JarlFrank, have already received a private viewing of Wasteland 2's demo. I'm sure they have plenty of impressions to share, but until they return, you'll have to entertain yourselves with more complaints about the game's UI. :smug:

are they home yet??? were are those two motherfuckers??

Got to admit that they did a good job on the UI, I'm impressed.

I agree with you, but I would do the AP meter with a flip display, like this:

drTU6hM.jpg
That's p cool.
Either would be fine be my. My problem is with the dotted numbers. Imagine trying to read that shit with 3 glasses of whisky in you.
Anything not readable when cozy = shit UI element.

Getting screenshots from the devs? Private viewing of the game. It's like the Codex is a ...gasp...real online magazine.

Oh yeah

Last pic I saw of him was with Pete Hines, couldn't recognize him with hair. Or smiling

That photo is pretty funny.

Grunker is like 'TEEEEEHEEEEE I'M WITH FAMOUS PEOPLE ^_____________^'

Fargo is all 'witness how smug I am and bow down before my might'

Then you have Jarl, "must... contain... enthusiasm... O VARG VIKERNES HELP ME STAY GRIMDARK'

And last is Brother None - "look at me faggots, i got famous'

Again pointing out that Phantasmals version is vastly superior to that what the W2 devs made. :salute:

Brian mentioned that some community people contributed to interface design, and that one guy who did a lot was from the Codex. At least the thinks so, he couldn't remember the name.

Put me down for clunky fax machine dot matrix. You can treat it as a game-play element; hope the fucker is inconvenient as shit. Garbage men in the post apocalyptic nightmare world don't get sent out with high tech gadgets like it's another episode from Star Trek, so that's usable.

But hey, why hasn't this been done more often: upgrading pieces of UI? I'm just throwing it out there. It could be a good mixture of cosmetic and useful; some artifact of high technology that has an impact on your game on an entirely different level from that of basic equipment. Plus, we already have a huge bunch of user-generated UI content, on top of inex'es prototypes -- minor modifications, to make sure the theme fits, you could have that shit up and running in no time.

Well, the UI looks much less slipshod than before so nice job on that I guess.
The AP counter still clashes horribly with the current UI, and is annoying to read, so hopefully that will be changed eventually.

The actual screenshots' contents look interesting at least. Looking forward to the Codexian impressions.

I disagree, the weapon part is clearly superior, the combat log is a matter of personal taste, and the middle area is definitely inferior to this new W2 UI. It blocks a lot of space without adding nothing. One could go for a mix of both:

That does nothing for me, sorry. I don't understand this new way of making UIs with so many elements sticking off instead of doing just a "block" like Phantasmal did. Guess I need to go with the times etc.

I don't hate the printer paper text. I do really, really hate the font for the XP though. It looks really out of place to me for some reason. I also dislike how small JarlFrank is.
