More likely: dgaider and hamburger helper are discussing starting their own company to kickstart a "game" that would be all romances and story and none of this distracting gameplay.I wonder if David Gaider is currently sitting in his office and thinking: "Do I, for the rest of my career in video gaming industry will do the same crap for over and over for EA? Or could I take some decent people from Bioware, create my own company and start some Kickstarter project in the spirit of Baldurs Gate2? Without that romance crap and multimillion marketing of interactive movies." Or is he spoiled with EA money and just say "Meh"?
Yes, that's probably the only option.More likely: dgaider and hamburger helper are discussing starting their own company to kickstart a "game" that would be all romances and story and none of this distracting gameplay.
Skyway is unusually quiet about all of this

CliffyB? That's a surprise, considering it's not a god damn cover shooter. Two of them are Notch and CliffyB.

Gaider did do Ascension, right? That was p. cool of him, to be honest. Bioware didn't even charge $10 for it.
Ah, im sure they will. Especially if youre in Kwanzania or some liberal western Europe country.I doubt they'll let me play wasteland2 in jail.

This is the reason why, going forward, this business model is better for creating high-quality works of art or entertainment than the current model. Interested people chip in, the creators get their funding without becoming the slaves of middlemen and may even make a profit after the dust settles. Actually, this isn't even a new business model. It's a very old business model. This model of patronage of arts was how art was being funded during the middle ages and it worked quite well. Of course, the shit artists hate it because, in this model, nobody is interested in funding them and they get nothing.Anyone else finding it therapeutic spamming the F5 key? I fucking love it...With every press I see a new dawn approaching, Kickstarter and Amazon jewing off the monies notwithstanding.
Seems that it will take just around 15,000 people to make this a reality. 15,000! Here we have been wringing our hands, looking glumly at the Bioturds selling in the millions and whining that we can never have a proper(as opposed to pure indie) old school RPG when all it will take is 15,000 people to make it a reality! I've no doubt that many more will donate and that the devs will be financially secure and churn out the best thing they can. It would already be a success even if no one else buys a copy as the donors would get a game and the devs have employment. Of course at a bare mininum 10-20,000 others will buy the game when released and even taking 20 dollars a head(bare minimum based of getting digital versions) that's 200,000 to 400,000 extra for the devs for dividing up or for funding Wasteland 3. So to make a neat profit and make a TB RPG using only crowd funding needs a pathetic 25,000 people at the bare minimum. Fucking hell, we can get EVERYTHING old school funded like this!
Why not? Contrary to popular beliefs, Codex member base isn't necessarily composed of spiteful dirt peasants.4 guys have pledged $10000
Would you believe me if I told you I'm one of them?
BRO, why so pessimistic? Surely a game like this will sell at least 100,000-200,000 copies...maybe more.Of course at a bare mininum 10-20,000 others will buy the game when released and even taking 20 dollars a head(bare minimum based of getting digital versions) that's 200,000 to 400,000 extra for the devs for dividing up or for funding Wasteland 3.
Yeah, it's quite possible, a successful Kickstarted launch is already a hype machine on its own.BRO, why so pessimistic?
