You guys realize these screenshots are the same ones that appeared in Gamestar.de and were probably taken at least a month ago, I hope
Yes, but it would be nice to know if they've decided against this blurring effect or not. Since this is the newest update and it still has screenshots with the blur are we to assume it's still in? @Brother None?

I find it hilarious that the above posters care so much to bitch about the use of lighting effects and grass bump mapping.

Apparently AAA studios are right to spend 10 million making sure the grass looks nice because otherwise we get "OMG ridiculous, look at that awful blurry grass."

Every screenshot I've seen, I've thought, wow this looks awesome. I guess I just don't have eagle eyes for blurry bump grass. Maybe because I'm interested in content and when I'm playing I could get two shits about how the grass looks?
Shut the hell up.

Nobody is talking about that shit, superficial asshole.

What people ARE actually saying is - it misses the artist hand.

Its soulless.

It looks like something i, or anyone else could do in some editor, if i waznt that lazy.
While the demo of the gameplay, in AG center - was for example, much more atmospheric. Looked like it has a beat of its own.

Well... what can you expect anyway, when youre missing Leonard Boyarsky from your team.

It's in and I think it'll remain in, though it may be well be tweaked some/toned down. It's also adjustable in the menu settings.

Oh that's cool then. I do wish they would have it toned down for some screenshots because it actually makes the game uglier

What's the rationale behind it's use? Why go that route? Not trying to be edgy just really curious.

The art looks fine to me, but the DoF effect is silly and detrimental. All they have to do is turn it off and everything would look better. No one is saying that InXile isn't spending enough money on art or graphics or that they're not trying hard enough. They've checked an option that makes the work they've done look worse.

I know Brian likes the look. I can take it or leave it, don't have strong preference either way, myself. It's just a matter of preference, really.

They will probably release the press demo as a video later on
Yes. The update says as much.

It makes enough sense to me, the press coverage creates hype, then you can capitalize on it twice when you release the same dev walkthrough the press had access as an update.

makes 0 sense if put into context of Fargo's "backers as publishers" mantra. backers should get first dibs on new info.

that said I'm glad they're getting press coverage. increases game awareness, increases sales, increases chances of a WL3 (or some other Black Isle-like RPG).

Do people actually believe this? The backers contribution is already done, all they need to do and actually do is gently caress you through updates. They have to sell the game now and like you say getting press coverage is important, and press loves FIRST LOOK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

you speak the truth. I also think this is what they should do (business-wise). but it doesn't change what I wrote.

It's not meant to change and contest anything, just saying that people who expect to get dibs on everything because they funded the game are delusional

I wouldn't expect Wasteland 2 screens to be AAA-beautiful. The game supposedly covers a lot of virtual land. It isn't a title with a cool 20-mil thrown at it, there's gotta be many recycled assets, and they are likely occupied with gameplay a lot more than with being remembered as the next Picasso of gaming.

But why? I just can't get my head around this. DoF is an effect which is caused by the lenses of cameras, because they can't focus on near and far things simultaneously. But when a computer game shows me stuff, I look it through my own eyes, and not through cameras. I will decide what I want to focus on thank you very much, the game shouldn't blur me stuff. And I'd like every graphic artist to hammer this into their thick skulls.

I hope we can turn this shit off at least.

I hope that "adjustable in the menu settings" means that it can be turned off.

I also hope that those UI-less screenshots indicate the fact that the UI is being reworked. I still can't believe that instead of fine-tuning the pretty good and fitting UI of the tech demo, they introduced that office space UI in that previous update.

I know that I'm being the doomsayer now, and honestly I myself don't really think this, but I fear of the possibility that even though there is Brian and a lot of good guys from the Black Isle days working on this game, there are others at inXile, who ...how do I put this....not as talented as they should be, and start to fuck up things during development. Like messing up the UI more and more, making questionable art choices etc.

I'm p. sure of that. The WIP interface screenshots they showed were just...pathetic. People are actually being paid to deliver that.

Nobody does.

Don't know how you escalated from "they should turn this ugly filter off for taking screenshots" to "OMG GRAPHICS SUCK"

I'm just reacting to the general pattern of complaining about W2's pointy knees every time a screenshot comes out.
