“Perhaps the most interesting part of my setup is the visual style of my machine which has a steampunk look.”

Arcanum 2 confirmed for the next Kickstarter.

If a spiritual successor is put up on Kickstarter after two patches or so to a great Wasteland 2 I would sell my fucking house to support it!*

*not really but I would give a lot

And he says he played Metro: Last Night? I'd be surprised if he could play it on the minimal settings with that card. What the fuck, this article was supposed to make him look like a "gamer in the know" and it sounds like a random dad that had his 13 year old son build a computer for him 5 years ago.

Well, maybe he has a low-res monitor? Perhaps a CRT judging by his idea of what modern tech is. ;)

It's a bit puzzling, since surely he can well afford a cutting-edge gaming rig. Hell, the manufacturers might send him all the parts for free in exchange for a bit of publicity.

Think positively guys, it could mean, based of his outdated machine that he doesn't like to waste money to keep it updated and Wasteland 2 will be made on budget and on time on contrary of a certain company developing an adventure game where people spent more time talking about games than making one.

I know a lot of people who still use 8800s. They still play everything on low, and some people don't give a shit about graphics.

I wonder when we're going to see any screenshot taken in daylight, though. Except from the very first one (which wasn't even a real "in-game" shot), both screenshots (this one and previous one, with plane junkyard) were taken at night ingame time. Are you hiding something, inXile? :troll:

This looks quite nice. Considering it is just work in progress I feel positively elated about the game,

Are they talking about prone/kneel in the game?

I seem to remember that there'll be kneeling but not prone, because prone would require too much extra art/animation work or something. There may not even be kneeling. Whatever was said, I don't remember it too well, but prone is right out.

There's kneeling as the gameplay demo shows. Well, at least as an automatic animation when you are behind cover.

I see that some one is climbing a container. That probably means climb is in. This is good. This would also mean that height and terrain advantages can be considered. Having no prone and/or kneel would be a pity.

I think that characters will automatically duck while in cover, but it may also be possible to change stances manually.

Absolutely ancient technology, yes. It's not much better than the 8800 GTX cards I had in my gaming rig before last, which I built in... what... late 2006?
I think they were the exact same chip, just rebranded because Nvidia loves to try to trick people like that.
Actually, 9800 GTX (2008) is a rebranded 8800 GTS (2007), which is (overall) a tad faster than 8800 GTX (2006). There was not much improvement in graphic cards in these years.
Still, pretty ancient technology, gaming-wise.

Oh wait, it was actually two SLi GeForce 8800 GTS cards I had, not GTX, and I built the rig in 2007, not 2006. I'd just separated from the Air Force, was saving my money for college, and thus went for a budget rig that would run most games at medium-high settings (at the time).

That rig, those GPUs and drivers, and the games I played during that time period taught me to despise SLi/Crossfire. I've refused to use anything other than a powerful single-chip GPU ever since.

My PC is almost five years old.
It has the 9800 GTX which was one of the very best video card at this time.
Don't have problems running all the games i have on my 22 screen and i have only 8 gig RAM.
I don't think he will have any problem running Metro.

Console ports gonna console port.

Only PC-exclusives can possibly need cutting edge GPUs, people.
