Played for a little bit and I might restart.

I am playing on Supreme Jerk, So far I finished Highpool completely and visited AG Center but didn't explore fully but I was told to head to the prison. I am running out of money and ammo and items. I don't know how I should go on anymore. Main guy is a Sniper user and have Angela and the Indian girl. Most fights I simpley shoot and retreat and pray I don't get a Jam and was pretty alright. After AG I decided to look for place to get loot or something to help, found Level Up mine and the damn place is filled with Honey Badgers that can one maybe two shot me.

Figured I'll go to the Rail town and maybe do some none combat related quests for some experience and loot and the game kinda keeps crashing or something. Not exactly a crash but closes all of a sudden and nothing, no messages or warning or anything like that. anyway I met Pitball and he decimated my entire party. I don't know how its possible to win that fight without losing anyone. He uses a shotgun I think and he is pretty fast, gets the first move and fires twice and his turn shows up pretty fast too.

Anyway most of the quests are pretty alright some the dialogue is kinda bad tho, I don't think they take the age or ethnicity, the stuff in the second options of character creation into account in dialogue. I made a bald headed old man and Angela still calls me a baby when talking to her and same thing with an old guy inside the Ranger Center calling me a child.

Combat when its range attack is pretty good I think but when it goes into melee its pretty brutal. I think most of the melee attackers so far were pretty fast, they can reach me in one turn from wherever they were standing, almost all of them except for the infected in AG Center. They also have a pretty high defense and health so yea, I ran out of ammo pretty fast. I bought a Combat knife I think from the Ranger Center and damage isn't good, I manage to attack 2 times with very low damage of 5-12 damage and get some space since I can't aim well with my characters close combat and I almost get killed in their turn.

If you have pipe bombs or grenades saved up, you can take out the honey badgers with them easily enough. You even get a couple of new explosives after the mission is done to replace the ones it assumes you used. And a boatload of XP. Probably enough to Level Up as the name implies.

Pipe Bomb does 25 damage and Grenade does 50 I think. In the third room I encountered 6 or 7 Honey Badagers. Their health is 200+ something. I only have 1 grenade I think.

Edit:
Is it possible to craft items? or upgrade guns without mods? If its possible I might make a melee guy with high explosives if I started again.

- Actually, vendors should restock/upgrade their inventory after certain key events only (i'd prefer a time based solution, but there's no day and night cycle).

I more prefer it when the player has some involvement with this (and where it makes sense). Take for example Shadowrun: Dragonfall, there is a weapons dealer, that had a shipment that was headed his way, stolen from him. His inventory will continue to have low level stuff, unless you accept his mission and recover his lost shipment.

I always find that kind of stuff refreshing and rewarding.

The gun shop owner's quest in Rail Nomads Camp is either bugged, or incorrectly explained. I can't find his lost shipment anywhere.

After replaying the second honey badger battle 3 times I've discovered that people down at the end of combat don't receive XP for it. Time to do it again.

Huh? They must've changed them then. In the beta they had 50ish hit point but an absurdly high amount of armor. You could shoot them with a shotgun all day and they wouldn't notice, but a single 'nade took them out.

There are 3 crates in the Atchinson Camp map, as you enter, go left and up the hill, past the wolves, minefield and frogs. You will fight some Rail Thieves and the 3 crates are there. There seems to be a problem with the highlighting and it doesnt work for them, but you can spot them with mouse over.

are you saying that they'll be added *for sure* and in a timely manner?
No, I'm not.

I think I've found one of the people who gave the game a 0 user score on Metacritic: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/commen...wasteland_2_currently_the_1/ckn36oe?context=3
All PayPal donator emails were automatically added to a Wasteland 2 mailing list that got the same updates as Kickstarter users did. He either unsubscribed or doesn't use his PayPal email, in which case he should've contacted us to let us know we should send updates to another email. A shame.

Thanks man. The Quest Log entry is still messed up IMO because it mentions junkies and not rail thieves.

This game is really bad. Poor graphics, almost no storytelling. Epic utscenes - nope, forget about that. I just can't imagine how can you create such a thing in 2014. Developers, wake up, 90's are gone.

I will try yo keep it short: this game is so bad that I am very worried about upcoming Torment game from the same team. The lack of content simply kills the gameplay. It is also very linear. Pretty much: go there, kill all hostiles and ask for own target, don't wander on your own or you will get completely destroyed by enemies few levels higher than yours.

Still the worst game I ever saw in the history of my computer gaming experiences. The user score is right on. Glad to see my comrades giving it the scores it deserves. :) They are still deleting threads and most especially the negative ones on the steam forums. Beware they are trying to puff it up and it's not worth $40
wait for the $4.99 special. ;)

Extremly bad game. I gave it up before even completing the first "quest". You have to kill a Large Toad which proves impossible on Normal difficulty. Amazing.

One step forward two hundred steps back. Installed the game played for about 10 hours uinstalled started a new fallout series game marathon. Story and characters are uninteresting and boring gameplay is bland and has no variation in my 10 hours of play. Clearly this game was created for those that have not played the old games. Another kickstarter failure to deliver. Go play Divinity:Original Sin it's a turn based party crpg that is better at litterary eveything:

(depth of strategy, character progression,story,writting,dialogs,characters,graphics,sounds,music,controls,ui)

IStuff sold in the Ranger Citadel. You can buy a M16 for and a Berretta (FFS Benetto?) for ~500 scrap very early in the game.

You can buy that, but can you afford it? Maybe is it just me, but the few hundred scraps I have goes into the ammo and medkits.

Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities — the political, the religious, the educational authorities — who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing — forming in our minds — their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself.

Think for yourself.
Question authority.

The metacritic "reviews" are pretty useless most of the time but always entertaining! Cant beat Toad (which you meet what, 10 minutes in the game?), 2 out of 10 :)

Played quite a bit last weekend and the fallout vibe i get from this game is strong, and thats a good thing in my book.

Finally a good view of the skills and attributes, and which ones i want in my party, so prepping a new restart right now...hopefully the last.

Regarding the very low metacritic scores I suspect there is more personal butthurt going on against the devs than against the game.

Probably Brother None smacked a few cry babies too much on the inxile forums :D

Aight, i guess i've played enough to judge it properly. This game feels hollow, and contrary to popular opinion, later on it becomes even more apparent.

So many game mechanics seem to be either forced or pointless. Skill usage is neither meaningful nor fast, you just have to sit and wait for a progress bar to fill, and considering that every second crate is boobytrapped/locked, shit gets tedious really fast. Water supply on world map provides zero gameplay value too, it's just another time wasting thing added for god knows what reason (its not a sub-based MMO after all, there's no point to purposely prolong basic activities).

Combat is too simplistic and wonky, and since most of it is unskippable, it severely cripples your ability to enjoy whatever scraps of decent writing you might find. Also extremely limited ammo supply and endless AP of certain enemies (one-shots too) feel like a very artificial means of increasing combat difficulty without touching its mechanics, which is just a fucking cheap and lame way to go about it.

Areas feel empty, aside from a couple of lootable objects (and faceless NPCs, if we are inlcuding 'hubs' in this), there's not much going on. Loot is just dull though, for the reasons mentioned above (you have to loot every stupid dirt pile and trapped/locked crate because ammo is so sparse) AND because there's nothing (besides ammo and occasional shit-tier weapon) but a bunch of vendor trash that has no value or flavor to it.

This game has no business running like it does, considering how it looks. Especially when world and npcs in it are static, there's no underlying mechanisms that might hinder performance.

I wasn't expecting much, but i'm still disappointed.

Not been on this forum long but certainly respect the general views about RPG and currently using the Codex all time list to work through a bunch of games. Completed Arx Fatalis and Risen recently as they were on that list. Also recently played the enhanced version of Wasteland - having played the original a very long time ago and loved it to bits.

Bit worried about the love in kissy come home and meet my mother aspects of posts on this forum - wonder if the views are tainted because of the link to Fargo, Fallout etc. I would have preferred a game akin to Wasteland rather than the Fallouts as I can't see those being bested by anyone - not even Fargo himself.

At one point I will have to give it a go myself but currently doing another run of New Vegas - looking forward to the first proper RPG Codex review!

Lord Azlan Nah, this is standard "game just came out and it is pretty good" honeymoon period. There will be a marked climbdown in assessments after another week or so.

I've finished Highpool and it is much more user friendly than the early beta. It's a pretty good game but never great at anything, just a nice mixture of various mediocre-to-decent elements put together with the heart in the right place. That's enough for me in terms of it being the first 'new inxile' game and the first KS game.
