Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Been playing for 30+ hours so far, and shotguns have been pretty useless thus far. Too circumstantial to really be of much use, spread's always bad (unless you're an enemy, in which case they'll hit everyone caught in the cone), and damage is pretty pitiful. I'm just grateful the shotgun guy in my group is also pretty good with blunt weapons.

Shotguns go from godawful useless to godly, as soon as you get Over Under in the Titan Canyon. Blunts on the other hand are still kindda meh. Found "The Order" which is a huge sledgehammer but it's got only 25 dmg at 7 AP. Not really worth it when my Nightstick can do 21 at 3 AP.

See, people keep saying shotguns become great later, but in my experience they're great in the beginning too. For example, there's a segment in a house in a certain area where you can fight several melee guys with unusually high HP and decent armor. Being able to catch all three of them in a couple, three shotgun blasts is immensely helpful. The other thing is, because shotguns are situational, you don't have to worry too terribly much about running out of ammo or using up shitloads of scrap buying more.

That guy some pages back who said you should train Rangers for two weapons to start, possibly three on down the line was absolutely right. Shotgun no good? Pull out a revolver instead. Can't get in range to smash that dude's teeth out with your nail board? Pull out your SMG. It's been working pretty well for me so far. I sort of regret training bladed weapons on my surgeon in addition to assault rifles, because assault rifles really do do it all... hopefully there'll be some powered ultratech bladed weapons later on.

being a unity game, you can play in borderless fullscreen windowed mode by launching the game, setting the resolution to your desktop resolution, disabling fullscreen and exiting. then in properties -> set launch options (this is for steam), add "-popupwindow" minus the ".

If you're using the gog version, make a shortcut to the .exe (or view the properties of an existing shortcut) and add -popupwindow after Target: "..\WL2.exe" so that it looks like
Code:
"G:\games\Wasteland 2\Build\WL2.exe" -popupwindow
for example

Doesn't work properly, 1200p isn't listed in windowed mode first of all and the game reverts to some random res. like 1536x960 when I disable fullscreen (and changing res. while in windowed mode does nothing).

Yea, if your desktop resolution isn't listed when you disable fullscreen, it isn't going to work. That's why I said set the resolution to your desktop. Submit a ticket to inXile, they probably didn't have non-standard resolutions in mind (but hey, at least they support 1920x1200).

That's twice now I had to reload because allies shoot me in the back and kill me. With friends like these

No way I'm going to ironman this before that's fixed.

Combatmusic is extremely tiresome, other than some other nitpickings I'm having a lot of fun. This has got me playing till dawn.

I really wish I could either A) bring up the map, click on an area, and have the map focus in on that area
You can already do that. Open map, double click at your destination and it closes and shows it to you. Unfortunately it's buggy so you have to open the map twice because it zooms in on your party the first time.

Disappointed to hear that LA is apparently a massive bugfest. Looks like I was wrong about it potentially being more polished than D:OS. Fargo, like Vincke and Weisman before him, ran out of money. :M

(I'm sure they'll claim they didn't and it was actually because they really needed most of their people on Torment already)

At least bugs are easier to fix than massive balance problems.

Hey guys, a question about Anna Hegedus.

So, I tried everything I could to save her, none of my skills worked and there was no cure that I could find, so I killed her.

Is that the only solution to that situation or was there something I could've done?

Hey all a quick question - is it possible to save both AG Centre and Highpool, or is one inevitably doomed?

Loving the game so far but just not getting enough time to play due to wife/sproglets...

Fucking seriously man, this game is great.

Placing Angela Deth and Spinning Birds (my Native American melee/SMG chick) on either side of a doorway set to melee ambush, luring enemies in with sniper fire, then having Jeff Bridges pop out with a shotgun to start mowing everything down has sold me on this combat system.

So, anyone maxed animal whisperer? Are there better animals to recruit later? Honey badgers? Big wolves? Gila monitors?
I used it on a honey badger in combat once and it ran away, I figure the creature has to be non-hostile for it to work.

All you people having your weapon jams are funny. I arrely get them. In fact, outside of a couple battles where I got hit by them multiple times, they're extremely rare.

I have it maxed, haven't really seen any huge advantages so far. I guess there's some comfort in knowing that I could potentially calm any animal in the game.

They happen every battle for me for most of my characters, some of the enemies, and even this weird guy named Provost that follows me around screaming latin inanities, his handgun jams every other turn.

On a new map load a random number should be generated. This number should then be used for the basis of skill checks throughout the map. This way you can't save-scum your way through containers/fights as easily. When you level up, perhaps the random number should be re-randomised.
This at least removes the 'necessity' of having 6+ second skill checks add god knows how much wasted time to the game.

I've got mag's for reduced jamming on all compatible weapons, it is a necessity. Even at 1% they jam pretty frequently, about twice as often as the percentage indicates. My characters don't have 1 luck, they have around 3-4 I think.
