Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Regarding the prison:
Is there really a way so I'm basicly invited in, and I don't need to force myself through the turrets? I read it somewhere, but I haven't got a clue how would this be possible. Especially after murdering every las RSM member on the map.

Two ways. First you can speak to Dunforth through the intercom and promise him to cure his dogs. Then go to the guy on the farm and make him to give you the cure. Then you can waltz in the prison unharmed.

Or there's a non-functional robot by the prison entrance. When you go to Darmota you'll find the required part, go fix him and send him to blow up the turrets.

Apparently if you kill the overseers and stuff at the indentured servant farm (and don't leave the area and do Damonta). You can also get treads for the conveniently placed robot by the intercom and it'll kamikaze the turrets and destroy them for you as well.

The only thing I didn't really like about the Prison is that if you talk to Jobe, go up to the speaker and talk to Danforth, leave and do Damonta, you come back and everyone is dead but Jobe because he poisoned the dogs and blamed it on the Rangers or something, and made Danforth have a hissy fit that caused him to kill his workforce. I don't really get it, I get that they were trying for poignancy and the sense that CONSEQUENCES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME but I definitely felt like it was not a very smooth transition but whatevs, the big battle at the prison was awesome!

sea there's no Linux patch on GOG.com. Same for OSX, except that this installer shows version 2.0.0 while Linux shows 1.0.0. What's up with that?

- Mechanical repair skill has nearly no use and no skill usage sounds
Most people don't know this, but you can actually use Mechanical Repair to repair jammed locks/safes/etc. and attempt them again.

Wat

All those times stuck in loading screens when my dumbass unlucky safe/lock cracker found the 1% critical failure. All the while a lvl 10 mech repair specialist was standing right there. :negative:

Seriously though the skill cheks in LA are brutal- lvl 10 lock, safe, demolition etc and 62% change of success?! Now that is some good ass security service they are using there.

Fucking Rail Nomads, man... I presumably could have used Hardass to force Casey to give me the brake shoe, but figured Chief Cocklicker would use that as an excuse to REALLY stick it to Atchisons, so I decided to try brokering a peace instead. I figured I could swing something, at least. I cleared out the Rail Thieves, didn't rat out the drug dealer (perhaps that had an impact), and the most Chief Cocklicker would do was offer peace in exchange for keeping the golden spike, taking back the brake shoe, and cutting off Casey's arm as well. In other words, he wouldn't compromise at all.

Since Casey was willing to compromise and give up the brake shoe, and even to have his arm cut off, I slaughtered Chief Cocklicker like a dog for being an unreasonable fuck. That was some p. gud lewtz.

The same shit happened to me. And in frustration I've decided to kill'em all. Stupid location.

New/fixed GOG.com patch is up, faithful guinea pigs appreciated users!

This a shit move bro. Just because a bunch of whiny cunts bitched about it, that doesn't mean you have to nerf the challenge for everybody.

"Slight reduction to jam rates for large offenders"

Bull fucking shit. I noted down the jam rates of weapons before patch. The patch reduces everything across the board to 4% or even lower.

Fuck you Inxile, I need to install the patch for quest fixes but that means I have to install nerfed pussy mode as well. Fucking making 2 patches in the future: Bug fixes and pussy mode, don't force this shit on me. I dind't ask for lower faggot jam rates.

If everything that can have a sturdy mag has a jam rate of 4% or lower that means the whole mechanic is fucking useless.

Bunch of punks got scared because people complained and imediately nerfed the shit out of it.

Just from what I've seen:

Famas 7% to 4%, Old Navy Revolver 6% to 4%, .38 Semi Automatic 9% to fucking 4%, R270 6% to 4%, Missipi Mule 8% to fucking 2% for fuck's sake, Bulpup 6% to 4%, G43-W 7% to fucking 4%, Benneto 7% to 5%, Makarov 7% to 4% ..... fucking 4% seems to be a magic number, doesn't it ?

Fuck you ! You fucking sell outs !

Jam needs to be tied to a game mechanic or not be in the game at all. That game mechanic can be as simple as "revolvers don't jam, fast-firing SMGs are the most prone to jamming, etc." RNG by itself is just bleh.

As it is, and just as it is, jamming is a pretty harsh punishment to the player, but I feel as though the ability to free-switch weapons alleviates it quite a bit. Depending on where in the AP exhaustion it happens, a jam can actually wipe out a solid two turns of action. This does promote diversity in weapon skills -- or at least carrying a back up.

I can hear those jimmies rustling from all the way over here.

I think they took it way too far myself, if just about every jam value has been lowered to 4%. I thought they'd be backing off certain guns (or some actual hidden code) a little bit, as stated by Brian Fargo, and not chiseling huge chunks off the %.

That said, I doubt your self-congratulatory blowhard temper-tantrum is going to change much of anything, though it sure is entertaining. Realistically, if a player gets a lot of jams, he either flees, reloads if he gets slaughtered beyond recovery, or uses more medkits which he can repurchase with the spoils from a few random encounters. The fact that you feel jamming is such a vital aspect of the game that adds immensely to its challenge is just silly. If anything, it provides easy victories when enemies all jam a bunch of times in a row, because unlike the player enemies can't recover from a jamfest since they can't flee, let alone reload the game.

Come to think of it, I've never seen any enemies use healing items yet.

Honestly the whole jam thing itself is not that important to me per se.

The only reason I bother to take a position is because I despise these modern times where the target audience gets to dictate how the creator designs his product. When I was young and played XCOM there were no forums to bitch on and the possibility of getting a developer to change his product after a few days to suit us, had never crossed our minds or anyone else's. I miss those times. If I got stuck, the best I could do was try harder or find a friend who also played the game and brainstorm. Games back then encouraged smart players. But now it's enough for a few people to whine and we bring the bar down a little lower. What's that ? You think the game is unfair ? Don't worry we'll lower the bar a little more...and a little more...

And you look at the whiners and see them gloat after getting their way and they think they've won. What did they win ?

That's pretty lame. Haven't patched yet, maybe I'll wait. TBH if you get killed by a jam or two in combat your party sucks or is biting off more than it can chew at the time. Carry a damn grenade on a few characters and chuck one when you get a jam. Problem solved.

They can make the game more challenging without dumb shit like weapon jams, plus you can exploit things in the game like carrying two identical copies of the same gun and swapping them when one jams with no AP penalty, so it's not any easier. There are also different difficulty settings so you aren't even playing on the same difficulty as everyone else so what do you care? Same thing with people that whine that other people "save scum," what's it to you?

The thing about the Jam issue is, it's entirely possible for them to make those parts of the ruleset optional. A menu toggle. These kind of jam rates should be the Can I Play Too, Daddy? difficulty.

A House Rules mod would be good.

Sorry kid, but I don't argue with teenagers over the internet. Not because I am above arguing over the internet, just because teenagers are by their very definition mediocre.

A few days back, I saw that one of the Ag Center NPCs was named
Matt Forrestal
and wondered if that might be a reference to text MUDs in which people who play druids et al. and live in groves and such are sometimes referred to as "forestals," which usually carries a derogatory connotation not entirely dissimilar to the way we refer to people who've been emasculated and brainwashed by professional victims as "libruls" in much the same vein as "furries."

I think that you are being facetious but it's not a "hardkore game bro" to begin with, if you don't want it to be.

There are different difficulty settings, and you can change them at any point in the game. The fact that you can lug around two copies of the exact same gun and swap them in battle with no AP penalty has to be an oversight.

Well, actually you can drag any weapon you want directly into your weapon slots, so you can swap between more than two... I'll have to test to see if you also get a free reload. The game's a bit quirky that way... sometimes (out of combat) when I plop a gun into a slot it's automatically loaded, sometimes it isn't.

Doest matter. It's still a hardcore game no matter the difficulty level. Hardcore/old skool doesnt' neccessarily mean super duper hard.

Ok, maybe I read your post wrong. Do you eman the same type of gun or same exact gun? ie. the you just jammed? I'd guess that's some sort of bug as I don't think I could put the same exact gun in both slots. I can have two sniper rifles in my quick slots but I couldn'thave the same EXACT one. That be wrong and obviously buggy. But, two different guns of the type? Nothing wrong with that.

"Two copies of the exact same gun" - it's called mass production.

But is it hardcore, bro?

It's called weapon jamming is rare if you take care of your weapons, the desert Rangers are badass fighters but they don't know how to maintain firearms?

Wow you're retarded. Radioactive sand, also known as jamsand, clogs up the receivers no matter how much you maintain them.
