The GOG patch is up.

Now the question is, does the GOG patch have the font hotfix or not....
Or are we going to have to wait another day and a half for that one.

It's GOG so I think we already know the answer.

Huh, I found the Codex shrine/vault and got inside via the... unlock code, but I can't find a way down to the second level. There's a door icon on the map but nothing there in-game.
Could be a bug, but there should be a ladder at the very end of the hallway. It might be hard to spot.

As far as I know it requires a very high perception skill.

Just took some time out from Divine Divinity to play a bit with the new patch. I can't say much about the combat improvements but the graphical ones... :greatjob:

Animations are smoother, textures and portraits look sharper, I notice that characters now have idling animations. Maybe they did before but it was too crap for me to notice. It is pretty jarring when a low res surface is right next to a high res texture though.

Also, the game options really need a Fast Walk toggle. Now that the patch has taken away the fast walk I'm reminded how exruciatingly slow it is.

The dude has a point about 3D. If the game truly was going for $900k (it wasn't, I still believe in my 'ask for little, acted surprised when you inevitably get more' Kickstarter theory), maybe it wouldn't have attempted 3D graphics and other shit. Maybe they would have downsized the graphics, and in turn focused on other things like gameplay. I still think the game looks woefully out of place in its current presentation. And there is a general sense of art direction in the game. It just looks like total dogshit in Unity, effectively wasting the artists' efforts and intent. I'm constantly getting a "late 90s/early 00s" vibe from the graphics. You know, when 3D was terrible. And there still is no point in doing 3D unless you do it right or you do something very imaginative with it (Outcast, Citizen Kabuto, Morrowind, etc.). 2D works perfectly fine even with a half-assed effort because the lack of super sharp details is implied from the start. Imperfections frequently add to the character. At no point in playing WL2 have I felt the 3D added anything to the game.

3D graphics are cheaper than 2D. It would have looked worse/had fewer assets.

Unity can look great, see Shadowrun Returns, Torment.

The biggest problem isn't the 3D. I understand 2D is more expencive. They should have gone with 3D but with locked camera, fixed isometric perspective, and Polish that angle more . Ten times better for zero added cost.

They were going to include a locked perspective option, but changed their minds for reasons unexplained and unfathomable. :D

Playin' with the new patch installed. The game looks more crisp, tho they did overdo it with the " ' " with the loading tips. Looks like a redneck hobo is giving you hints on how to play. Shootin', playin', y'all, YEE HAAAAW

2D being more expensive than 3D is a myth. Engines are only as expensive as you want them to be.

Also do the GOG patches contain the fixes from previous patches? Because before it was "Patch 1" or something and now that's not there anymore, but there's a "Patch 2.1" instead.

I don't why people are whining about WL2 graphics. They are pretty damn fantastic.

Does anybody know if gog actually has the latest patch uploaded?
GOG updated all versions to Patch 2 yesterday, including the font hotfix (not including the Russian/French loc hotfix yet, I don't think).

Thanks for clarifying. GOG is a bit confusing about their patch numbers. Usually yout get an announcement symbol in the library but I had none.

Do you have the game-only edition from backing on GOG? I'm starting to think there's something about that specific edition where they're not getting the regular announcements.

I backed the special edition which transfers on gog to the digital deluxe edition (with Wasteland 1 and Bard's Tale as "dlc"). Patches are listed as Patch 2.1 and Patch 2.2 (hotfix).

Edit: Starting the installer of patch 2.1 says it's now installing update 2.2.0.11 (and requires 10 MB space but was a 1.5 GB download). AND the hotfix requires 10 MB of diskspace, too (with downloadsize of 1.2 MB).
