Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
WL2 combat was generic and stupid as fuck

Do you have a scale on that? Like "stupid as fuck" is the lowest one, "stupid as motherfucker" is worse and "fucking stupid as that bitch Laquanda!" is your ulti? A man gotta have a scale.

"I have toyed around with the idea of doing a remake of Wasteland 1 and making it first-person, a la Fallout 4"

Coming soon after Wasteland 3.

People will play it on release, say it's okay. Then more people will play it and Codex will agree it's shit. The Director's Cut will then release, and nobody will play that because fuck, I just finished the original. It will be remembered as good for what it is. Thanks for your contribution, Brian. Can't wait for Wasteland 4.

OK, wait a fucking second. I finally read the press release and it says

You start the game as the sole survivor of Team November, a Ranger squad dispatched to the icy Colorado wastes.
Is this going to be a Chosen One game?

Is this going to be a goddamned Chosen One game?

Stay tuned, kids! Coming up next: the exact moment when Zombra loses faith in inXile.

Haha no it isn't, have you forgotten our arguments about what "party-based" means? Ask him if there's full party creation.
Honestly I assume he knew what was meant because there was a major debate about it on the official board during Wasteland 2 times, and the difference between "Chosen One + companions" vs. "true party-based" was well established at that time.

You may be right, but ... I can't ask right now. I'm too scared.

Btw, didn't Fargo said that he wanted to build trust with some reknown brands and then going full crazy with new, fresh IPs?
I mean, I know he's not to be trusted, but shit, four games and they're all sequels.

The best you can hope for is that it'll be like a modern AAA game where it eases you into the system by first letting you make one character, going through a tutorial for several hours (likely with companions you'll never see again), and then allowing you to create the rest of your party (as well as optionally respecifying the first one you made).

Either way, inXile's certainly going for a wider audience here. :)

Pretty sure that's what the market wanted when these things launched. Pure nostalgia porn.

Personally, I'm super hyped XCOM has been picked up as a franchise again. Both games are on my to play list. There's nothing wrong with making sequels from good franchises.

The way Fargo talked in his Gamescom interview at Gamereactor, it almost seemed like he regretted having to do Wasteland 3. Would have preferred a new IP right away.

Fig still hasn't asked us to invest in the doublefine kickstarter, I'm not sure what's going on here really. The platform clearly isn't ready.

W3 is too much I think. Like, that horse has been beat to death already. Especially with all the Fallouts. Don't think that type of post apocalyptic genre is relevant anymore.

Well, they're changing it up with the Colorado winter theme.

Maybe get a few disappointed Fallout 4 players on board? I've always thought that a major reason for Kickstarter's takeoff in 2012 is that people were pissed off about Bioware and looking for alternatives.
