The FPS mod really transformed this game for me

I was going to sarcastically ask if mods had made this game good yet, but that first person mod looks like it might have done so! The AI is kind of stupid to ignore a rogue cart running around in their showcase video, but that's not the mod's fault.

That interface though. Unless Raph will stop thinking consoletards care about his games we will never get anything good out of this solo endeavor.

I kinda expected it'll go full Arx Fatalis, but instead we got this. I don't even give a shit about graphics, go full 90s-00s like Gloomwood or Blood West. Who cares?

Also, the camera pov is not an issue at all.

Devs asked to nominate this game for something, but unfortunately "Disappointment of the year" category isn't on Steam.

Game's on sale for 60% off despite only coming out a year ago. I've never heard anybody ever talk about this game outside of this thread; not even from YouTubers who lap up Arkane's output. It probably would have at least a few fans if they made it first-person. I'd say it's a shame, but I was already kinda biased against this game before it even came out.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
This Steam review is p. much perfect:

The very promising (nomen omen) weird west setting is implemented quite poorly here, with all the usual tropes mixed together into barely digestible mish-mash, that breaks under the weight of its gloom. You have EVERYTHING here: zombies, ghosts, sorcerers, greedy ranchers, shapeshifters, you name it. I think only a mariachi band turning into vampires is missing. All this wallows in this dark atmosphere, that no matter what one does - life will still suck and things won't get better, at least for you. A nihilistic story is difficult to pull - and here it falls short like a hobbit attending elven pole jumping champions.

Second, the concept of changing protagonists also does not work well either. Somehow you never connect with them folks; who later on just change into soulless mooks you can hire into your party for their uber skills. I get the premise, that thanks to that we can experience varied facets of the world and focus on different stories; but then these stories stay underdeveloped and, after all, you really don't care much whether you're an evil humanoid pig or a noble (or not) First Nation hunter.

Life is too short to waste it on so-so games. So, thanks for the fishes Weird West, but you're going into a backshelf.

Only a year? Damn... i thought it was out for longer.

I bought this shite with 50% off discount like half a year ago and refunded shortly after some invincible twink in a hat charged at me to start a dialogue. Turns out it was some sheriff-sheboon.

I tried playing this on Xbox, it was almost impossible to aim at shit with the controller as devs decided to design it for M&K and enemies all dodge like crazy.

This is the impression I also got from looking at gameplay footage. The western setting seems inauthentic. Hard West does a better job with the "supernatural wild west" gimmick.

As disappointing as this ended up, at least it was a functional game unlike Arkane's new thing. :)

Apparently this PS5 release will also make it a "Definitive" edition, but whether it's just a 4K/60fps patch for consoles or something else for PC too is unclear for now.

Back in the days I thought Dishonored could be better, but after Deathloop and Redfall I'm sure that would be an impossible task for Arkane.

I played it using a controller on pc. It was extremely easy to aim.
Game becomes easy once you get the hang of it.

Wolfeye Studios Backed by Galaxy Interactive to Develop an Ambitious New Video Game IP
May 11th 2023 - Austin, Texas, and San Francisco, California - World-class independent game developer, Wolfeye Studios, are pleased to announce partnership with Galaxy Interactive, one of the largest venture capital funds dedicated to the video game and interactive sector.

WolfEye Studios, composed of accomplished game developers and founders of Arkane Studios, released their first game in 2022, Weird West - which was published by Devolver Digital and nominated for "Best RPG of the Year" at the 26th D.I.C.E. Awards.

President and Creative Director, Raphael Colantonio said “I value working with investors who are as passionate and knowledgeable about games as Galaxy Interactive. Making games requires extraordinary effort and talent from all sides of the equation”, CEO and Executive Producer, Julien Roby adds “Our partnership with Galaxy will allow us to maintain our independence, while also allowing us to get more ambitious with our next game - which is a dream situation to be in!”
Galaxy Interactive is one of the largest VCs in the videogames industry, with portfolios including 1047 Games, AccelByte, Avia Games, Bad Robot Games, Build a Rocket Boy, Elodie Games, Genvid, Mythical Games, Playable Worlds, Nekcom, Sword and Wands, Solsten, RCT and many others.

Ryan You, Partner at Galaxy Interactive, said “We are extremely proud to partner with WolfEye who is built by pioneers of Immerstive Sims, one of the most interesting game genres, and remains a leading actor in that space.” Michael Fan, Partner at Galaxy Interactive added “"The concepts of agency, interactivity, and more importantly: this idea of offering unique, unscripted, and unpredicted possibilities emerging from a system, are what make video games so special and so interesting. And the team at WolfEye have dedicated their career exploring those topics."
The company will spend the next months expanding their talented development team and will continue to develop a prototype for an ambitious new IP, which is yet to be announced.

So back to first person 'immersive sim'. Wonder what the theme will be? Space again, or back to UU inspired worlds? I read some years ago Raf was interested in doing an immersive sim where you play as a vampire. That'd be pretty ironic given the Redfall context.
