What game are you wasting time on?

I got Risen for 4€ on ebay. Hope it doesn't suck. I heard the game consists of horrible fed-ex quests.

I'm currently playing KotOR, and after that I'm probably going to play KotOR 2.

KOTOR2 sneer at my integrated chipset. May the four major forces bestow unfavoured chance of interaction upon that piece of fecal matter! Even The Witcher work on mine, albeit with the help of 3D Analyze. But oh noes! Buggy like nobody's piece of code, after years since the release day.

HoMM2 Price of Loyalty. Goddamn campaigns are too hard, on PoL scenario 7 now and facing 80000 crusaders or something. Brutal difficulty compared to Succession wars campaigns which I sailed through fairly quickly.

Also Fatal Frame 4, Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, patched to English version & playing via Dolphin. P. good atmosphere, shitty sluggish controls, must be a bona fide Fatal Frame game. However am abusing Dolphin's save states to get snaps of virtually every single ghost.

To my everlasting shame I have to admit that I couldn't finish PoL without cheating. Some scenarios I may have eventually finished if I had tons of time, others I would've never been able to time or no time. It's a shame, because some of them are incredibly beautiful maps (Wizard's Isle map 4 being one of the most memorable). TSW is indeed a cakewalk by comparison, HOMM3 even more so.

The new Guild Wars update lets me play 100% of the game without interacting in any way with the player base

wait how what

I played prophecies when it was just called 'Guild wars' to the end with all the base classes so you know how it goes.

What did they put in and will it be in guild wars 2?

Recently finished Stalker: SoC. Overall a decent game and while I admire what the developers tried to do in mixing a challenging FPS with RPG elements they didn't really nail the latter very well and it feels sort of hollow. That said, as an FPS it is really good but there's pretty much no point to do the side quests. Would have been better if they fleshed them out a bit and made weapons, armor, and ammo more scarce requiring you to do the side quests to advance in the main quest. Still, not a bad 25-30 hours of game play.

Churning through my backlog I'm now playing Puzzle Quest 1 -- a lot more interesting RPG elements than PQ 2 and I'm a bit overwhelmed in terms of what items to create with what runes although it doesn't seem to matter too much as the 'combat' isn't overly difficult and a lot of it is predicated on luck more so than equipment. I probably shouldn't have picked the Knight class -- doesn't really have many exciting abilities as he just uses straight up skull damage and heals himself.

Call of Pripyat was made for your, kind sir.

Aside from missing the labs and their atmosphere, it's "like SOC but better!" in every other way. It's so good that even Skyway almost likes it!

That's what I heard. I have it and will get to it eventually but will probably play a few other games in the interim. Speaking of the labs in SoC -- the first one was really well done with the anomalies and the flying stuff and whatnot with the controller at the end but the other one after was a let down as it was totally abandoned until you flipped the switch.

Yakuza 3 and Alan Wake. Yakuza 3 is pretty awesome because it's so cheesy and melodramatic. I'm on chapter 4 now and I'm loving every minute of it. On Hard difficulty the bosses put up a decent fight...one of them kicked my ass several times :D

Alan Wake is pretty meh though. I've only completed the first episode, but the gameplay is pretty bad so far. The story is interesting, but it takes itself way too seriously...it's like a serious version of Deadly Premonition, which is a bad thing. Also the graphics are meh even for consoles. They did a fucking terrible job on character and facial animation. LOL and it was supposed to be one of the best for 360...bullshit.

Also have been playing Victoria 2 and getting back into HoI 3. Currently waiting for CK 2 :smug:

Space Rangers 2, for the tenth time.

The problem is the level scale. Everything is generated based an equation that factors in your current money on hand plus the value of your ship, equipment and commodities. Level Scaling sucks, because the AI does not have to work for their mods, they just get spawned with rare micromodules and low size high technology equipments... It just like Oblivion problem, without an Oscuros mod to fix that... and I searched on russian specialized communities for months at a time.

Checking World 5 of Haven and Hearth and the new character progression system where people do not increase learning points by smart macroing repetitive tasks that wield learning points, but craft, loot, forage items that have to be studied to give learning points, i.e. an hybrid between time based progression with minimum effort as fuel. But its too much hassle to take all the necessary precautions to prevent people from stealing your stuff, like making 10 alternate characters and having to manage all of them. I can see how first timers think its an awesome experience, but once you realize your the mouse on a wheel for the aspiring developer... some people have higher standards of how low can they sink.

Also, playing Fallen Earth on and off for the second month, getting bored with the lack of personality/dinamism of the world, at the beggining I thought it was a sandbox, then I started realizing its just a big open world, albeit inorganic and static, not much of socialization, long term goals, customization and uniqueness, basically a linear themepark with huge exploit holes and imbalance issues. Normally games like this are propulsioned by the economy, but in this game the economy is "single player", like a sim tycoon, and pointless acquisition of value, lack of freedom/options.

Waiting for the open beta of Mythos in two weeks, to analyse the changes in design made by the european hosters and how it manages to counters the koreanization done by hanbisoft. Its amusing to anticipate and witness someone shooting its own foot, major trolling and butthurt *popcorns ready*. Its a first hand experience of how recent MMOs school of design decisions based on balance cannot embrace roguelikes, nor expect to have real money transactions or freeform economy with auction houses. As study materials, its the everlasting epilogue of how Diablo's virus infected the MMORPGs and shaped the notion of what the acronymn meant and its everlasting side effects into MMORPGs and RPG genres.

Currently bored.

Honestly, I am not playing anything much at this point. I am just trying to graduate from college. I plan to finish my Ultima LP in the summer, though.

Played some Arx Fatalis again, really great playing as a mage. That in turn made me start replaying the Ultima Underworlds.

Playing some BF1942 + Forgotten Hope, currently. Having a lot of fun ghost-riding jeeps into other vehicles. Damn, those explosions are satisfying.
