What was that old game that seemed kind of like Baldur's Gate, but had nice graphics?

I'm just going to list a few of the obscure ones that I know that sort of fit the bill into the hat.

The "Myth" series (I/II/III) of games.

Robin Hood the Legend of Sherwood, not an RPG but it had BG-like visuals and castles.

Did you say 'old'? It must be one of Jeff Vogel's earlier games then.

Seeing who the OP is this is most likely a troll.

I need a "depressingly pessimistic" button.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Found it, by the way:

I think this was actually it. I didn't realise it wasn't an RPG. I installed it and it didn't work. So mystery likely solved. Thanks Randir.

Looking at the isometric games thread really made me want to play Desperadoes, but it also didn't work.

Did you try the GOG versions? Might also need to use DXWND or dgVoodoo. I know I've played both of them within the past 5 years using the GOG releases. Don't remember if I had to do anything specific to get them working, but if I did it was almost certainly by using either DXWND or dgVoodoo.

Armalion looks better than modern games as it clearly isn't afraid to show tits.

I was gonna say Throne of Darkness (2001). Samurai-themed party based Diablo. Don't remember much about it, probably one of the first RPGs I played.

Why all of the good graphics are wasted on realtime RPGs? It seems that TB is some kind of ghetto gaming.
