What would a REAL Vampire: Bloodlines sequel/successor be like?

Should this be a poll or a discussion?

people want to pretend it's a waste to limit Star Wars with Jedi shit but then you release shit like Solo and Outlaws that no one cares about.
What about Andor then? No Jedi in sight and people still look at it very favorably.

People still didn't care about the show, it flopped despite being highly rated. Which just proves my point.

The best way to avoid all of the pozzed modern-day garbage would be to make VTMB2 a prequel, not a sequel. I would place it in Paris during the Belle Époque, or something equally romantic.

Or the '80s. Hell, maybe several periods a'la Redemption. It could even include a dystopian future where, depending on your choices and sect, the vampires may or may not have the upper hand on humanity. Imagine that you could play as a member of Sabbat in such a setting.

The correct time period for a prequel is mentioned multiple times in Bloodlines: the Hollywood silver screen era of the 1930s or 1940s, the previous time the Camarilla tried to take over LA from the anarchs.

Many of the characters from Bloodlines would be around to interact with: Jack, Nines, Isaac Abrams, Gary Golden, Ginger Swan, etc.

And also Therese/Jeannette. Therese claims that "they" were sired about two lifetimes ago, so it would seem fitting to include them. Imagine having a Jeannette with a flapper wig on, with a persona stolen from Betty Boop.

True. In hindisight, we shouldn't have complained and lamented over VTM "cancellation". See where it got us. Be careful what you wish for *...

* - applies to every other dead franchise in existence. If you love 'em, let 'em go, lest they rise from the grave as a grotesque mockery of everything you held dear.
What was White Wolf supposed to do? Close down? While you may not have personally liked VtR and co, it was financially successful. It sold 2 million copies over the first 4 years, compared to WoD’s 5 mil over 13, so hardly a failure. WW even went to the effort of renaming it to avoid confusion. Companies don’t bother with that now.

I was referring to V5. In hindisight, starting from blank state in 2004 was the right thing to do, even if I wasn't particularly interested.

Yes. If you read the dialogue lines carefully, many of the characters were already in LA back in the 30s and 40s. Maximillian Strauss was around, I believe. Andrei too, although that's less certain.

The list of characters who weren't around might be shorter.

Well, now the writers have decided to make an original IP called Curseborne. I backed the kickstarter to get a look at the draft. I found it unreadable because the prose is so overwrought and confusing.

I read the kickstarter for that and I don't mean to be rude since I know this can be construed as a serious insult... but are they not native english speakers?

You literally have prose like

They have a particularly large curse that hangs over their heads and makes them more prone to bad things happening to them and around them. The nature of this curse also makes them magical in nature. They have a sense of the thing holding them back, and they can manipulate it in ways that normal people cannot.

It would be something like this:

Same protagonist that continues the Gehenna storyline of the original. No reason to call it Bloodlines 2 if the narrative connections between the two games are superficial at best.

Exactly. I want to cross out everything in red ink with my editor pen.

Here’s how you can say the same thing concisely: “The Accursed are, as the name implies, magically cursed. While their presence brings no shortage of misfortune, they can tap into their curse to manifest magical powers. It’s a weird balance.”

Just because you are a native English speaker doesn't mean you have good command over the language in question. You can also not be a native English speaker and write very well in English.

Of course. Half the posters on Codex aren't native english speakers and they can probably manage better Kickstarter text.

But whatever, let's not fool anybody by thinking good writing is a high priority for most people.

True. Still, I'd be good for writing to be at least serviceable instead of painful to read. Especially if there is a lot to read.

EntenSchreck from the Prelude mod and myself were really surprised about this, but sadly neither Tim Cain nor Brian Mitsoda could find their notes about these to mod them :(...

as far as lore goes, are there any statistics, a graph showing number of vampires per generation? There can be nothing over 16th right? Would it mean that vampires would be gone soon?

No real stats, but there tends to be quite a few 4th Generation Methuselahs in each clan (no surprise, since almost each Clan's founder existed for about 8k years, it had plenty of time to sire Childer). Why would vampires be gone soon? There's nothing stopping one such Methuselah from awakening and siring several 5th Generation Fledglings, who, as they age, will sire Childer of their own (6th Generation), and so on...
