Elden Ring's quest progressions weren't as offensive as DS3's. I remember having to read a walkthrough for those because some quest steps defied normal progression logic. The woman knight and Anri's in particular. They were indeed better in DS1 and 2, but DS3 jumped the shark and outside of boss battles it has very little to offer. It really feels like a consolation prize for, ironically, not being able to get Bloodborne on PC. I voted for Elden Ring DLC, even though I'm still halfway into it and still learning. I do think you have to get used to stuff in Elden Ring, much more than anything in the souls Trilogy, but I dunno, I guess I'm a fanboy.

I gave Elden Ring too many chances already. It feels more and more like a mockery of Dark Souls the longer I play it. I've given up on it. I like DS3 way better, but yes, prior to ER, DS3 was the weakest modern Fromsoft game, but Bloodborne is quite overrated, and so is Sekiro.
But they were all really good games compared to the current industry standard. And so is ER, but ER is such a decline even compared to DS3, that I'm pretty sure Fromsoft's glorious days are over. They may have a couple more best-sellers, but they'll never make a game as good as Dark Souls again.

My favorite was and still is Demon's Souls. A much more contained and focused experience than Elden Ring. The remake was spectacular and didn't shit in any way on the source material. So that would be my choice, a Demon's 2. But after the huge success of ER, I won't keep my hopes up.

From needed to take a break from making Soulslikes after DS2 to avoid diluting their games with stale ideas.

If they tried to make a more traditional RPG with more options to interact with NPCs than only violence or giving quest items, much of the Soulslikes' purported mystique would disappear, since it's mainly caused by the lack of player agency in NPC interactions.

Dark Souls II 2

Just kidding. A new Kingsfield. IDK why Sekiro is winning. The game forces you to use the most overrated weapon ever(katana)

Demon's Souls II, though that would require cooperation from Sony since they own the IP.

I enjoyed Elden Ring thouroughly so an expansion sound great. Another Kings Field would be my top choice though.

Porting Bloodborne and Demon's Souls on PC.

Apart from that, they should try something new (like Serkiro, but not Sekiro 2). Elden Ring is a tough act to follow as far as Soulsborne formula goes.

A sequel to Elden Ring, but hire the writers of Forspoken and that Rick and Morty game and have a voiced protagonist who constantly makes witty quips and remarks. Some examples;

After defeating a boss: "Well THAT just happened."

When you get to the poison swamp level. "Worst. Dungeon. Ever."

When dying to a boss: "Uh, can I get a do-over?"

I think this would improve their games considerably.

Same with Bloodborne II.

Given how well Elden Ring sold From probably aren't that interested in doing console exclusives anymore as that would be leaving money on the table.

So I suspect we'll see ER DLC next and eventually a full sequel. Sekiro II would be nice but less likely and as ER is basically open world Dark Souls, DS4 is less likely still.

Sekiro with 30% of votes in a RPG forum... An game all about using the most overrated weapon ever(katana) which IRL has no reach, no armor penetration, where only enemies can use cool weapons and has zero rpg elements.

IMO in therms of Japanese themed souls like, Nioh >>>> (abism) >>>. Sekiro

And FS should hire the guys from convergence mod

Complaining about using a katana in a FULLY japanese game, both in setting and creators, has to be a special kind of autism

Imagine if Kingdom come deliverance only allowed you to use longswords or an arab game only allowed Scimitar. That would be silly too. That said, nioh 2 is as JApanese as sekiro and has rifles, axes, hammers, staves(...) Katanas are overrated.
