Will we also get a Witcher 1 remake: Enhanced Edition after?

The problem wasn't it was complex
The problem was that it was a fucking chore with that backtracking
It really tests your patience
So it's not susrprising to know that even back 2007 alot of people gave up on those early chapters
That's a fair point, and this remake could definitely fix that because traversal probably won't be a chore in UE5. But we both know that they will simplify the quest for other reasons. Modern gamer simply doesn't have the capacity to piece together clues and explore evey nook and cranny for evidence, over a span of a very long chapter (longest one in the game afair).

I never played any Witcher games and actually started up W1 earlier this week to see what the hype is all about. I did the prologue thing, and so far my major impression is that the gameplay is shit. Cool intro cinematic though.

Codexers, tell me what to do? Do I keep playing or do I wait for the remake?

Keep playing. The prologue is the weakest part of the game.

Stick with it, at least until chapter 2 when the game really starts imo. If you really hate the combat, just level up Aard and stun/one-shot every boss lol. But it's really not that hard, just takes some getting used to.

Also I'd recommend installing this, along with recommended mods in the description. It has a bunch of bug fixes but, most importantly, some qol features, like increasing Geralt's movement speed by 30% to cut down on backtracking.

If you started on normal difficulty, dump it and start over on hard. This way you will experience the single genuinely great system in all wicher games that is its alchemy/toxicity system. It's the best piece of the game.

Oh for fuck sake, another one ..

Actually a remake that makes some sense. TW1 has a fantastic atmoshere and story with one of the worst combat system ever.
And the fantastic atmosphere and story are still going to be there, I am sure.

Nah. I loved first Bitcher when it came out but playing on hard, without the crosshair fiery sword indicating you're supposed to click again, would probably make me drop the game.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Hopefully they'll remove all the deviations from the real Witcher. In the stupid wannabe Polish Witcher games Yennefer, Triss, Fringilla, the dryads, Vilgefortz...everyone is white, which is p. dumb.

At the very least they should make Triss brown again in the Remake.

Given the TW1 combat, if they put the TW3 combat to save resources and time it would be an "upgrade" already. A uninspired upgrade but still.

"Hey, Bob, did you play The Witcher?"

"Which one?"

"The new one."

"Yeah, twenty years ago."

Why make new video games if you can refurbish old stuff? Idiots keep buying, the merchants keep churning it.

Idk, I think you're giving TW3 too much credit. The combat sucked in that game too for the most part.

Too bad Bob's search engine won't know the difference and looking up anything about the original becomes a pain in the ass. Easily my favourite part about this dumbass trend.

Comparing it to TW1 non existent combat its something, as someone already mentioned in the thread the bar is too low.

I really liked Seven, so this news pleases me. Witcher 1 as much as I love it could sure use some improvements and new tech. Just keep the original soundtrack.

This isn't bad news actually. Just think: if they don't cock it up, they'll have to do W2 as well and then we might have x3 pretty good Witcher games with the original still intact.

On the other hand - they did give us W2 with QTEs before they were removed. That's the level of decision making that was involved there. To this day I think whomever was repsonsible for that should be struck from the end credits and their name never spoken henceforth.
