Wow! I never thought that this day would come! I have playing like forever the Abandonia version, but I will buy it on GoG just as a token of good will towards the Siroteks.

I wonder if GOG plans on releasing Wizards & Warriors someday. That would be awesomely awesome (esp. if most bugs can be fixed).

Wizardry 8 is the only decent one in the series.

In before

:hmmm:
I don't like you and your taste, good sir. (Note that I believe 8 is good, but it's by no means unique in that regard)

Also:
:hmmm:

I agree with Brayko. Wizardry 8 is the only decent one. Tried Wizardry Gold, but it's shit (and that starts right from the beginning when you enter the first menu screen.
To hell with :
:hmmm:

No Arnhem? weak

I'll buy this if they've fixed Wizardry Gold, if it's just a straight dosbox I can do that myself...

If you're referring to Stones of Arnhem, it's totally impossible to release an unreleased game :D.

Actually, most games were released because they were unreleased.

Well, I meant unfinished/never made. Oh well, not going to edit my post because of choices and consequences :D

What's the advantages of getting these over the abandonware versions exactly ?
You can flaunt them in your online gaming collection and be smug about it.
They fixed some of the Wiz7Gold bugs.
If you are too braindead to read the DOSBox readme.txt the install will set it up for you.

But seriously, that question is valid for most of the GOG catalog, so why ask now.

The only way to play Wizardry 6,7,8 is to play all of them with one party without class changing. Some nice rewards and dialog options if you do this.

Yes, and the sky is blue and water is wet.
Not giving Bela the Diamond Ring in Wizardry 8 that you got in Wizardy 6 = not a CRPG fan

Well, unless you're Mondblut, then you keep it for the stats. FUCK QUESTS

Class changing is the basic HEART of the VI/VII/8. I have yet to play without ever changing classes, though it is utterly fucking annoying in VI that you cannot change where your stat points go towards.

So how does it work exactly? What items do you get to keep at each transition? Are your stats and skills gimped in any way?
Any drawbacks?

My little contribution:
- class changing is unwise in W8, avoid it unless you really know what you are doing.
- for W8 download the faster combat file found here http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/wizardry-8-enhancements.79581/ (at the end of the first post). It is almost mandatory. It has 2 components : one which speed the opponent movement (and that you can find elsewhere) but above all a component that speed the monster animation and missile weapon. You can install/uninstall those 2 components whenever you want.

I agree with point 2, but changing classes is a big part of the fun and challenge of Wiz 8

Been a long time since I played 6 - 8 but I remember changing classes was recommended for min-maxing, since standard classes level up much faster than the elite ones and you can shove a lot more skill points in your stats before the switch (I could be terribly wrong though).

The game is harder if you avoid class changing (at least in Wizardry 7), but you stay true to your characters in an epic journey from Wizardry 6 to 8. Roleplaying, not maximizing stats.

When I played I didn't class-change either. Makes the game way too easy anyway.

However, if I replayed it on Expert I'd class -change, the grinding needed to survive 6 otherwise is worse than any jRPG. And then 7 is _harder_.

So this new version of Wiz Gold has a fixed text-scrolling speed issue? What about the issue with apparently broken diplomacy in Wiz Gold?
