Looting. Should I evaluate every item for looking for magical/+++ items? Or is it enough to check only the asterisk (*), star signed items?

Diamond ring. Should I sell it form money only? Does it have defense or another value?

IIRC, it's like in the Gold Box games; items that are not among those equipped by the monsters may be magical.

Nonmagical jewery is money. I don't remember if you can enchant them, but it's always better to enchant +2 or better items you find.

Ah, the Golem Staff. I found the first two parts and the third is supposed to "hidden in the wood". I searched everywhere, but to no avail. So I consulted a Higher Power, namely ASchultz ("I know everything") and his maps. The third piece is supposed to be in a chest on the third level, but no matter how much I search nothing turns up.
The map makes me think I may need to reset the dungeons, though, since I didn't find half the things noted on the map.

EDIT: That didn't help. But I got a second copy of one of the first two parts, and that worked.
How can you use the Golem Staff? What skill is needed for using that staff?

IIRC it's just a weapon that does extra damage to Golems. Isn't there a Staff skill? I no longer have the game installed, so I can't check.

I cannot see a Staff skill. Hardest is in this game that you cannot see how much damage a weapon or spell does. I am using all spells but I have no idea what they do. Except Fireball because that is a AoE spell. What monster action shows only the monster is wounded. I have a Death Claymore but only says: target feels a sudden dizziness.

I love this about the game by the way. Nobody tells you [Lightning] is [32%] more effective than [Fire] against [Robots]. You have to try it yourself and once you watch them die a few times you figure it out. YOU are writing the book of how to do it; it's not written down for you.

Can I use Change Terrain spell in Tarmon's Castle? It always miscasts.

I made a big mistake by using the DOS version. Battles in bottlenecked corridor are incredible long. In applewin you can make save state and continue battle the next day.

IIRC Change Terrain is outdoors only.

Personally I prefered the Atari 8 bit version. It looks nice, and you can transfer characters to Eternal Dagger.

I have killed Tarmon. The backtrack to the town was a battle every step. Most annoying end game ever. It was not hard, only the quick battles sometimes did huge damage to my party. But crpgaddict was right; only an utter lunatic would fight every battle. Btw I have fought every battle in the Castle manually. Dosbox save state does not work with this game (sometimes).

Depends on how important it is that your own spells succeed, but usually it's the logical thing to do.
There's actually some interesting "mage duel" moments in this game.

Eternal Dagger

Only walkthrough is by ASchultz. His walkthroughs are usually very confusing.

"The advantages of having a thief is extra dexterity and that he can use the
Eternal Dagger later.
.. having a fighter-thief means that someone
else can use the Eternal Dagger in case that person doesn't get a magic item
of his type. "

Cannot the fighter-thief use the Eternal Dagger? But anyone else can? Or what does this mean?

This Eternal Dagger feels much better game. You do not have to backtrack constantly, only karma reloading so far. Food system is a little confusing. I cannot see/use the Create Food pray. How can I use that? Btw no need so far, 99% the hunting is successful.
It was interesting that killing a moving tree left a tree object on the battle map. So I was surrounded a wooden fort and my sorcerers killed everything.
