Yes, but do not mix Steamtards with the real X community (and by that, I mean the guys that are behind all the mods behind the previous games). Most of them are either silent or in a nuking mood. The few you'd see on Egosoft forum are likely Steam partizants with butt hurting all over due to spending full price for this turd.

Honest apology from Egosoft and close cooperation with VALUABLE community is the only way to save it (and it doesn't seem likely).

My prediction is, that Egosoft that we may have known is dead and get over with it. Tards on Steam and even Egosoft forums are just going to tard more. Hopefully for their demise (together with the idiots that run the company).

Apology? They are PROUD of this shit! Or at least they are pretending to be. They'll never admit they fucked up horribly, much like politicians.

Yeah, just edited my previous post to show my belief, hehe.

They had this VISION y'know, and they will stick to it.

Was great until the ending..

1. Egosoft never made "6 games like this". The others were brilliant. This one is shit.

2. There never was a Beta, that's the problem.

Hitler has a point though, this has been in development for longer than all of WW2.

The entire fate of the greatest nations on Earth, and human civilisation itself, was irrevocably changed, borders re-drawn and many new technologies discovered in less time than this half-assed console port was thrown together.

I'm still suffering with this game. Does anyone know if there is some kind of log, or database (ingame) which can help my trading. So far the only thing i know is to go to a base, and take a look at the few wares it sells or buys. But I don't have to patinance to search for every station manually. It takes a million years. It is tedious. I'm used to the convenience of EVE Online where I open the market, chose the ware and it lists me all the stations which sells it.

All games were lacking at the release, but they were fixable to some extent. But they were not brilliant. Economy and AI were always broken (in X:Turd it is broken even more, but that's beside the point). This is not fixable at all due to fucked up design as well as what it seems like different way of supporting modifications (see the link I posted somewhere above).

Oh, there was a "beta". Problem is, no one listened to them (again see the link above and some other one I linked even earlier)

Yeah, looks like they were seating 7 years in a bunker with no window to the world changes. And that's what we got.

Although the game is half baked, I must say 28 is unfair. If they could improve the optimization (playing with a slideshow is not fun), I could see some people having a bit of fun with the game here and there. It still has some nice X elements in it. I think 45-50/100 is more appropriate.

Steam has finally updated X Rebirths store page with a damning Metascore rating of 28/100.
The top score is a 47...

Well done. I'm not sure I've ever seen such a score.

I'm struggling to think of a score equal to it or below it on any game I have ever wanted to play. Even the more well know Total war series and the rage surrounding the broken at release Rome 2 is sitting at 76%.

That's what happens when you give no doritos to reviewers and have a game that's genuinely bad. I'm sure it would be 7/10 if it was an EA game.

It's funny that Derek Smarts Universal Combat has a better Metascore than X Rebirth

Pretty sad how there are still plenty people on the egosoft forums etc defending this mess. I leeched it so no harm done.

Sucks though, I was really looking forward to X3 with better graphics...Then again, it's not like I followed the development at all. Only being able to pilot one ship would of already been a deal breaker.

There wasn't really much development to follow. They were extremely careful with releasing information. Guess that should have been enough of a sign that things were going badly.

They did mention you'd only be able to fly one ship, but the way they made it sound was as if it'd be extremely customizable. And at any rate, it seemed a fair bet that modders would fix it. Instead, you're only able to switch between three slightly different engine and shield types and you have 4 weapons total, and so far no one's been able to figure out how to let the player jump ships.

Kinda moot at this point though, even if you look past bugs and problems the game simply has no content. Even were it working perfectly, there'd be no reason to choose it over TC/AP. Unless you like running around LARPing in space stations devoid of gameplay.

I'm surprised that Egosoft/deepsilver are still asking an inflated price point despite the poor reviews across the board. With the sales on they could have netted themselves a few more suckers that may even be able to play the game and not ask for their money back. But at some point after buying out THQ's licenses Deepsilver suddenly mistook itself for a big fish that can sell games at the same price as Activision's yearly popamole shovelware and whatever series Ubisofts still milking beyond death.

X Rebirth has something rotten at its heart that has poisoned a reported seven years (seven!) of development. Attempts to make the series more accessible and a search for broader appeal are not inherently to blame for this, but have both backfired catastrophically. Instead, we have a game that will devastate the fan-base, repel anyone new to the series and enrage anybody who pre-ordered it. I didn’t think anything would be able to top SimCity and Total War: Rome II’s abysmal launches, but somehow, someway, Egosoft has managed it with X Rebirth.

There was enough info released to tell it would be consolized, but nothing prepared us for how badly everything was implemented, and how buggy the game would be :(

If I had pre-ordered X rebirth like I was going to then I could have rounded 2013 off as the worst year in gaming I have ever had when it comes to ill informed purchases. Thankfully Ego soft/Deep Silver themselves saved me with their sudden inflation of the price on steam which bought me enough time to read what people were saying about it.

It seems that most official game magazines published their review 1 week later than usual. Either because they weren't handed a copy (but then they could have destroyed the game in an early review as a revenge), or they felt pity for Egosoft - and deliberately let people buy this pile, by holding back their reviews. Whatever the reason is, it smells from both sides.
