Public Beta testing of X Rebirth updates and patches
In order to test updates and patches for X Rebirth more thoroughly, we have decided to open up our Beta testing to anyone who wants to get involved. If you would like to help us test our forthcoming patches (and don't mind backing up your savegames in case things don't go according to plan!) then please head over to our new X Rebirth - Patch Public Beta forum, where you will find details on how to join the Beta program and report any problems you find.
In the short term, until the Christmas break, we plan to operate a roughly weekly patch cycle, with patches being made available for public Beta testing towards the end of the week, and the full release following early the next week if all goes well. As we move away from urgent bug-fixing and on to improving performance, fixing gameplay issues and adding new features, the length of this cycle will of course increase, with more time being allowed between the Beta and full release.
So... The game is released on full price, people are suckered into buying it, and then the devs run a beta test. A beta test for 50 dollars...Yep. And on a related note, Egosoft just started beta-testing Rebirth!
Booze is working rather well. I'm drunk right now, and if it wasn't for this thread, I'd have forgotten about the game.If booze won't do it, try a bullet.I'm just trying to forget that I spent money on this travesty.

JarlFrank, move this thread to retardoland plox.

Beta testing for patches! Not beta testing for the game.
For example, you can choose to participate beta testing for Steam updates, that doesn't mean Steam is constantly in beta testing.
One of the main reason for the problems is that the gamers have high-end systems. In the Egosoft office, they only had middle class systems, and it worked well on them, and therefore they didn't feel the need to test on high-end systems. Unfortunately the game doesn't work as well on the gamers high-end systems.
That man is unbelievable. Those are Molyneuxian levels of denial. The user interface works well. He wouldn't have changed the user interface even if he had had one more year development time.
There is an Interview with Bernd Lehan on German Gamestar.de.
He is in complete denial mode. X:Rebirth has sold more than any other X game before. Most buyers are happy with the game, unfortunately some people have problems with bugs.
Until the end of 2012, there was no free movement in stations. It was just landing and direct interaction. They only added station movement in 2013.

The only problem with the game he admits is bugs. Everything else works well. According to him, unfortunately the game design is at the moment sometimes destroyed by bugs.
Hahahahaha what? Maybe try checking the official X subreddit, the official X forums, the official Steam forums, virtually every youtube video on the game, and the game's metacritic score. But yeah, totally just a vocal minority. Everything is fine and there are no gay people in Rebirthistan. So, they had their biggest selling game by aiming for the middle, at the loss of a small vocal minority. Does the Codex ever get tired of predicting doom to franchises that aren't made to their exacting standards? (And despite the long proud history of demise for companies who strive to.)
Yep, I suspect a true x4 sequel would have sold even better than this shitty Rebirth. Many were starved for another space game, and the kickstarters for Elite and SC has sparked the interest in the genre once more. They've had their biggest selling game because Steam and PC gaming are bigger than ever. It has little to do with the quality of the game.
This is fucking unbeliavable. I love how they use the tipical BS reasoning for their broken product. Meaning that most gamers are happy with the game, it is just some people who have problems. Hm, when was the las time I heared that? Oh yes, 2 months ago, with Rome 2. Which was another half baked POS.There is an Interview with Bernd Lehan on German Gamestar.de.

Oh... there you go. They went full retard.
That's some really questionable conclusion there Bernd. Of course most of the comments are complaints and bitching. The game has sold extremely well, so we also did a lot of things right. Even now we're selling more games every day, than we have with any X game before. That also means, the features which didn't work properly on release, are not that important to many of the players. In some cases that's sad because I would also like to convey the depth of the economy and construction to new players.
So, buy it and prove us all wrongSo, they had their biggest selling game by aiming for the middle, at the loss of a small vocal minority. Admittedly, I'm currently playing X3:AP on Linux and haven't yet played Rebirth. I confess to a little denialism at all your reports and probably needs a slap to the face.
