It's XCOM with more pretty and larger budget. They squandered an opportunity to make a proper X-Com, but then again this is Firaxis and they have to reach out to the dumb handicapped kids too.

So PC exclusive the UI and controls are just as bad as the first one.

:nocountryforshitposters:

This thing will have consoles version in like no time. They just use "pc exclusive" to hype pc master race get bucks and then release it on consoles as "port of PC game" where it was made as console game for consoles.

Hell it is UE it has basically build in function to cook console you want version without much problem.

It is more open to modding now. While we probably will not get something as different as Long War 2 (those devs decided to make their own game), I am sure people will mod the game to be more hardcore.

  • Shen's Last Gift: offering a brand new soldier class with unique upgradeable weapons, armor, and customization features, as well as an additional narrative-driven mission and map (releasing summer 2016).
Uhh, did they just take the fifth class and put it as DLC? I really hope this is in addition to that unannounced fifth class or I'm going to bleed from my anus for fucking days.

Yeah, I just saw they said on their Twitter it's a sixth class. I still think announcing DLC before release ALWAYS looks bad, they should announce this stuff is almost ready a month after release when everyone is hyped for new content. Announcing before release just makes people hesitate to buy the game and wait for bundles.

Is that really the cover? I thought that was just in the trailer. If that's the cover, holy shit.

Edit: They finally posted system requirements. Feels nice to see my 5 year old clunker of a computer exceeds the Recommended specs by a large margin.

  • MINIMUM:
    • OS: Windows® 7, 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 2.6 GHz
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5770, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or better
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 45 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card
    • Additional Notes: Initial installation requires one-time Internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include Steam Client, Microsoft Visual C++2012 and 2013 Runtime Libraries and Microsoft DirectX.

  • RECOMMENDED:
    • OS: Windows® 7, 64-bit
    • Processor: 3GHz Quad Core
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: 2GB ATI Radeon HD 7970, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 or better
    • Storage: 45 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card

Muh strategy games, but we live in an era where developers want you to have a 4 GHZ i7 processor to run some shitty last-gen game, so it's nice to see something more reasonable from time to time.

I don't have a clue. Probably something turn based as well. Since they are russians or something, it will probably be another unfinished, untranslated Russian shovelware.

I watched that 60 minute video, I suggest you watch first 10 minutes when they show all the cool soldier and weapon skill customizations you can do and then skip to half of it as they spend way too much time on stupid shit like looks and such. Than combat parts has some cool parts and some not so cool.
Cool new stuff is that now you can see when you mouse over the place you want to move who you will be able to fire at from that position.
Not cool stuff is that even with all enemy patrols being placed on map from start they still act like nuXcom enemies, the do little moves on the open, they ignore your presence unless you run into them and then they get a free move into cover. Fucking bullshit, I was hoping they at least fixed that shit.
At least enemy no longer spawn out of thin air but arrive as reinforcements in spots you are shown one round before.

They also added some cool QoL improvements like sniper that moved and has no targets to shoot at but still one action left can just press one button to go into Pistol overwatch instead of needing to switch weapon first.

Also Specialist Hack ability can give bonuses that boost your systems efficiency after this combat. You could hack stuff around and get info about critical missions or get 4 week boost to radar efficiency.
Oh and I loved how you can now target vulnerable spots with your rifle like gasoline tanks to cause it to blow up.

And out of combat, that exoskeleton armor that allows your soldier to wield heavy weapons normally too big for humans was cool. Kind of looks like PA skeleton in Fo4 without all the armor plates and helmet

Video w/o gay commentary and 60 fps:

This game demonstrates zero innovation over it's predecessor.

In b4 mods will fix it.

Procedurally generated levels alone are a massive point of improvement. Why don't you just say what you really mean?

This game isn't X-COM UFO Defense, so I'm going to discount all the changes

These days you should be adding roughly a year to a release date to get the actual release date (of the so-called GoTY/complete/ultimate/enhanced/whatever edition of the game).

Hey it's better than not having one made for the game, look how bad bioware jew you with their no ultimate version releases of some of their newer games.

And you believe it's going to be pc exclusive? Why do you think it's 'pc exclusive' with ' ' around it?

Well considering how low were console sales of the first one compared to PC sales. Yeah, kinda.

This. Console port is not really worth it unless PC sales take off for some reason. Even then..

I think they already know PC sales are going to be good. It probably depends on what their plans are for the future and if they get a good offer from the outside. If 2K offered to farm it out to some other studio I could see it, but Firaxis really doesn't seem interested in wasting their own time on a console port that won't sell very well anyway when they could be working on XCOM 3 at that point.
