I wonder if the fps bugs are related to action camera (only). All folks with review copies indicated action camera makes the game behave wonky (framerate/animation issues) and disabling it made it a smoother experience.

What I noticed also, the stealth thing can backfire. If you miss the ambush, liked I did the aliens get a free turn afterwards. Did not go well for my guys.

Folks we are in serious danger that pirates would have self-respect, and they would wait for a patch.

Overwatch is not the smartest thing to do during ambush. Better to get your troops as close as possible, then fire with one that has best chance to hit. Then after aliens do their free move, move your other 3 guys into flanking positions and fire from there.

I have decided to do that lol :D

:(

Why? I mean...XCOM is better than 90% of games out there...buy da shit dawg...
I cannot afford AAA prices. I live in a shit country but steam charges us same prices like we are Germany or UK.
Our buying power should give us Russia prices...

Also if I buy it now I will have to buy the DLCs as well (those incoming as well). I rather buy that as a bundle on steam sale when it is 50% off.

Cdkey selling shops can provide you with a decent price. I got the preorder with 30 Euros which is acceptable imo :)

I rather pirate now and buy it legally later on sale on Steam.
Money given to key resellers might not end up in developer hands and you might be financing some other shady stuff.

Maybe it is time to start playing the game. The character creator is damn fun. I wish there were more faces though.

Wow. I wasn't expecting VIP mission mechanics to be completely fucked rendering them incredibly difficult.

Once you are aware that the VIP exists, suddenly they become an active member of your team, activating pods left and right and triggering every enemy to try and kill them.

This means that if the VIP is in a guarded van, the moment one of your squad acquires line of sight on the van, suddenly the guards all blow the van to pieces in order to kill the guy inside.

This is true even if your squad is completely concealed. I guess the VIP sees your team and starts screaming at the top of his lungs or something. KILL ME!! KILL ME!!!

Astonishingly broken, Firaxis.

Dragon's Dogma style highly mutable bodies need to get integrated into the basic dudebuilding engines. The CIA has definitely got Dillon pushing too many pencils

Wasn't it like this in EU/EW too? I'm guessing it's the randomized map situation that makes it frustrating

In EU/EW, you had to walk up to the VIP. In X2, it's line of sight ... and not even line of sight on the VIP, it's line of sight on where he's being held. So if you see the OUTSIDE of the armored van 2 blocks away, it triggers.

I don't care about character creation, I just play with the default. Is there a way to download other people's characters? I just don't have the patience/talent/time to fiddle with all those options.

Oh, and after 4 hours of sleep I finally got to play an hour!

First attempt:
Legendary, Iron Man, first mission...
Turn 1, we get into position for a nice ambush.
Turn 2, we grenade 3 ADVENT and they scatter... then the cover destroyed by the grenade opens line of sight to a Sectoid, 4 more ADVENT and an office.
Turn 3, we are turned into kebab.

Second attempt:
Legendary, Iron Man, first mission...
First, I concealed the team onto the highest roof I could find.
Second, I triggered the alarm intentionally using the scanners/cameras.
Third, we gun down everyone approaching with 90% shots from massive height and grenade what doesn't die.

No hits taken, flawless job Commander.

:salute:

Well enjoy your difficulty.
People were saying it was too easy in EW, thus...

Oh yeah and the loading times on my 1.4 Ghz processor are... really, really, really slow. Like, two minutes a pop.
It's not a memory issue 'cause I got a solid 8 GB; you just need a better processor than that is all.

(What? I am not buying a new computer until the old one breaks. I don't care about FPS. TBH I am impressed this thing is still working; it's been running every single day since five years ago, and I never shut it down. And it's a notebook.)

haha I made Vasquez as well. Also named her Jenette.
She got into my squad yet promoted up as a sniper, will need to retrain :|
Mac got it right first go into grenadier. Dutch became a specialist, cant see him staying as a hacker. I think I need to make Bishop to fill the specialist role.
