I have a pretty basic bitch taste so I went with Fallout, Gothic, and....Deus Ex. I considered BG for a while, but I then remembered my distaste for RTWP.

I assume the likes of Risen and Elex aren't in the list because they count as "Gothic"?

This survey is difficult to complete. That's because most series have ups and downs. In addition, some later installments have nothing to do with the original, only the name connects them (e.g. the Fallout series). I marked the Baldur's Gate series - I love these games. But this doesn't apply to BG 3, which doesn't resemble the originals at all. Instead, I would prefer to mark "Infinity engine series" - BG 1 and 2, IWD 1 and 2, PST. All these games have more in common than BG 1 and BG 3.
Plus the survey is inconsistent here; we have IWD and BG as separate series, but the Gold Box games are treated as one series. This doesn't make any sense. Games should be grouped either by engine or by story.

I also marked the Gothic series - but of course this only applies to G1 and G2 + Archolos. Gothic 3 might not exist.

I had the least doubts with the Might and Magic series. Although it contains several generations of games, they all offer something interesting. Even M&M 9 is likeable (some of the dungeons are great, character development is quite interesting). The posthumous child - M&M 10 Legacy - is my favorite "new" cRPG.

I would also add the Drakensang series to the poll. Only two parts, but both very good. This would be my fourth choice.

Fallout overwhelmingly winning because of setting or gameplay per Lilura? I thought we were all medieval fantasy fags here.

Any reason for not mentioning Konung, Ishar, Neverwinter Nights, Legends of Amberland, The Magic Candle and Phantasie series?

Well, if you asked me in like ‘99 or the early 2000s it would’ve been Fallout. Hell, even up to New Vegas you could at least kind of say Fallout was still kind of Fallout, despite what Bethesda had done, because at least the old stuff outnumbered the new. But now Fallout as a series is something totally different than it was when I loved it. Fallout has been the Bethesda thing longer now than the original thing I loved, and the Fallout show is clearly based on the stupid shitty look of Bethesda Fallout as opposed to the original.

I do love Might & Magic. But I’m mainly coming at the series from the Heroes side of things which may as well almost be it’s own totally different setting.

Before I go on to list my types, I would like to point out that 'favourite' is not synonymous with 'the best in my opinion'. Consequently, I would like to write that I very much like some of the ingredients or ideas of some very unloved games.

So the first certainty of my favourite game series based on the current list is: JEFF VOGEL.

I still have to think about the other series, in the hope that maybe REDAXIUM and others omitted will be added to the list.

Look at Dungeon Siege languishing with zero votes. Painful to look at. Someone throw it a vote.

Other interesting stuff: I'm surprised by the near-parity between M&M and Wizardry, I thought M&M would take the lead of those two by a mile. Fallout taking the lead is no surprise. I'm surprised Ultima hasn't gotten more votes.
Any reason for not mentioning Konung, Ishar, Neverwinter Nights, Legends of Amberland, The Magic Candle and Phantasie series?
Added them, plus Redaxium, Amberstar/Ambermoon (mostly because the word "Amberland" made me remember those existed), and Drakensang as requested. If I missed anyone else's requests, just tag me and yell at me until I add it.
I assume the likes of Risen and Elex aren't in the list because they count as "Gothic"?
I'm only really familiar with Gothic. Would it make sense to add the others?

Chose Deus Ex, Shadownrun and Vogul's, but Shadowrun is the surprise standout series. SEGA version is good, SNES version is good, Returns is great, Dragonfall is superb, and Hong Kong the only let-down but even that is OK-ish. 5 games, 4 which I enjoyed playing through and which are worth multiple playthroughs too.

Dark Souls came close, but I'm just rerunning Escape From The Pit now and it's genius is fresh in my mind.

The SNES Shadowrun probably had the coolest setting, although it was a weak game. I like Dragonfall's gameplay, but I think they degraded the setting. Nu-Deus Ex is also less cool than their predecessor, even if they seem like alright games (I've only played HR, not MD).

I like the Dark Souls games a lot but... man, they shouldn't be on this poll imo.

Anyway, Quest for Glory is my favourite series of all time and every entry has something going for it. Even Dragon Fire, though that one is a bit harder to love..

The Gold Box games are ones I have a fondness for both out of nostalgia and are also the classic games I revisit most often.

The Pathfinder games (other than the Eurojank bugginess) start to get into some of the crunch and build porn I always used to hope for from the genre and where I assumed the industry would go with increased computing power when I was younger and dumber. Also you can play them both in turn based mode which is fairly well done and represents tabletop nicely. These are aiming in the direction of perfect CRPGs in my books: what I always wanted out of gaming and a progression from Gold Box and Realms of Arkania through games like ToEE and Drakensang.

A year ago I would say Baldur's Gate, now I don't know. Maybe Pathfinder. I just don't like the idea of a "series" any more, feels more like advertising than anything meaningful.

It's funny how many of these series have one really nice entry and then a bunch that are either okay or are just awful.

I'm surprised so many people are voting for Fallout considering I'm 99% sure everyone here hates at least 2 games in the series if not more. I guess the first two and NV really beat the negativity of the others then. Also, Vampire: The Masquerade? Isn't there like one RPG and then an action game and 100 quadrillion visual novels?

Tough call. As a series, many of these have lived long enough to degenerate. Many here are also only 1st plus sequel. Does that count?

For consistency, as a whole series, I'll go with Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Fallout.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Geneforge definitely deserves its own entry. I played and enjoyed all of them; the weakest is 3, and 1 is off in its own little world, but the whole series is pure gold.

People like at most 4 games (1, 2, New Vegas and Tactics). Yet we have 11 games released in this series:
