Finished the large opening area yesterday.
How can you guys play this with the absolute shit state of the emulators?

Was impressed by how it didn't constantly hint and lead you to the answers, even if the answer wasn't hard to figure out. With the new powers, that made it feel more open than all the AAA games of the last few years.
Yeah
These new Zelda games at least actually seem to respect the player's inteligence and understand the basics of what an open world interesting to explore

Runs at 30 fps in 1080 for me. I do have hitches and the sound is a bit crackly, but it's okay. I have an i5-12600K.

Plus the occasional crashes that somerandomdude mentioned.
Ok, but aren't you bothered by the eyesore visual artefacts shitting up the screen and the 20fps cap on cutscenes?

There's a 30fps mod that fixes these issues. I was told that it was absolutely required to make the game playable, so I installed the mod before I even started the game. I haven't tried the 60fps mod yet, but I heard that it makes the game run double speed, so I didn't even bother.

There's no fix for the audio crackling. Based on my observations, the crackling only occurs during specific sounds/effects. This is something the Ryujinx devs are gonna have to fix.

The artifacts are mostly on the side of rocks/stone, little square blocks in the textures. There's also no fix currently for this.

If breaking weapons in 5-10 hits annoys anyone else as much as it does me, there's a fix for this:

[Inf. Durability]
080E0000 02AA6FE4 177471F1 B9000901
040E0000 02AA6FE0 B9401901
040E0000 007C37A8 148B8E0E
040E0000 00650D7C 4B0C0188

Instructions, save this as a text file, and name the text file 082CE09B06E33A12 (it's the build ID for the game). I take no credit for making this code, I found it posted somewhere else.

In Ryujinx, right click the game, open the mod directory, inside of the mod directory you create a folder called cheats, and put the text file in there. Then right click the game, manage cheats, and put a check mark into the box. You might have to reboot the emulator before it shows up under manage cheats.

Meh
Weapons are easy to find, plus the mechanics encourage you not to get attached to most weapons
I do think special weapons like the Master Sword should be unbreakable

Apparently Yuzu EA can run the game fine:
>Ryujinx*
https://ryujinx.org/download

To install firmware, click on "tools -> install XCI or zip"

To install keys, click on "File -> open ryujinx folder" and move the prod.keys file inside the system folder.

*Download RyuSak. Nice to download keys and firmware, with mods for switch games etc on ryujinx. (when it works)
https://github.com/Ecks1337/RyuSAK/releases

>Yuzu EA*
https://pineappleea.github.io/

To install keys, click on "open yuzu folder" and put prod.keys inside the keys folder.

For firmware, extract the nca files from the zip in yuzu/nand/system/contents/registered

*Download the fix here:
https://pixeldrain com/u/Yd7M3RQC

put the "TOTKYuzuFix" folder in "yuzu\load\0100F2C0115B6000"

3 - Fixes & Mods

Ryujinx 1.1.739/YUZU 3543 work best.

Stable 30 fps on Yuzu, graphical glitches on Vulkan. Try OpenGL.

DEPTH TEXTURES LOAD ON YUZU

If you have crashes every 10-20 mins, try switching your audio backend between OpenAL and SDL2 on Ryujinx.
Try running the game in handheld at 2x resolution scaling, etc. Tinker with settings until things work.

If you mod out the durability mechanic you just took away most of the reason for exploring during the game.

Durability seems to be significantly extended when you attach some shit to the base weapon. It's much less of an issue than in the previous game, and it wasn't really an issue there either. I'm not a fan of the glue mechanic, though. It's really silly to use a sword with a rock attached to the end of the blade.

How tf are you playing on a switch? Am I the only person on earth who has to wait two more damn weeks?
I have a jailbroken early model.

The most efficient way to play BotW is to turn it off. You realize that there isn't any reason to fight monsters. The monsters don't drop loot that you need, and you will break your weapons and get different weapons. So ride past them to your next objective. There are no rewards for fighting. Don't bother searching for treasure. Just go do the four beast dungeons and then go kill Ganon. BotW is not like Skyrim where you have fun going off in a random direction and exploring and getting rewards. You get punished for exploring in BotW. And you are constantly having to micromanage your inventory, eating food all the time and throwing out weapons. Improvising to kill monsters was fun for the first 5 hours, and then it isn't fun after that. And the world was empty. I hate Genshin Impact but at least you aren't punished for fighting, and that game is free.

Outside of the occasional crashes, the game runs fine. Vulkan runs fine on native resolution, but you want OGL for higher resolution, you take way less of a frame rate hit. Vulkan gets less hitches related to building shaders though, so there's benefits for running either.
Try to change the Memory Manager Mode from Host (fast) to Host Unchecked (fastest, unsafe) in the Emulator Settings -> Systems. Could help.

The game is fun.

So still no way to repair weapons? Once they break that's it. Shit pisses me off. If you're not going to add a repair option then just get durability out of the fucking game. It's retarded. Considering canceling my preorder. I already have BotW and this just sounds like the same exact thing.

Still complaining about weapon's breaking? Mah bois just go to the sword cementery behind Necluda's stable. There's a lot of two-handed swords there. They reappear after every red moon, like every other weapon you can find through the world. There's a lot of spots to get weapons for free.

This is the same for the new game too.

Does this fuggin game have Iron Knuckles / Darknuts or not? For all its flaws I still really enjoyed BOTW, but goddamn its bestiary was absolutely pathetic.

So far, this is what's confirmed:
- all enemies from BotW carry over (though there are new variants), except for the Guardians which are replaced by constructs
- ReDeads are re-introduced
- new flying toad-like creatures
- many more overworld bosses

They break in 20 instead of 5-10 if you glue something to the end of it. There is no durability bar either, they glow red when they're about to break, that's it. There's no way to repair them, and part of the gameplay loop is constantly gluing stuff to the ends of random trash you find, AKA weapons. It's case and point for a mechanic that wastes the players time, and adds absolutely nothing to the game. Also, you can only carry 9 weapons, and that puts a further crunch on constantly replacing shit. Even with infinite durability, you're still swapping out weapons often enough when you find a higher damage point to glue to the end of a stick. I'd argue it's worse than in BOTW. I don't like games that don't respect my time, and retarded durability mechanics just like this are case and point for examples of things designed to simply waste the player's time.

How about the mechanics encouraging me to play it the way I want to play it instead?

Also the fact that weapons are easy tofind make matters worse, now I get to play Hyrule Inventory Manager instead of a Zelda game.

It took them 6 years to develop a DLC expansion and package it as a full game? Nintendo, I'm impressed.
I decided I'm still gonna get it because I killed enough braincells in 6 years that I forgot alot of BotW. All the stuff I read about the underworld map sounds cool. At this point I think it will be an entirely new experience, atleast for my mangled brain.

I also read that it has a more "guided" story than BotW so any time you get tired of aimlessly exploring you can get right back into the action.

Val makes a good point, there's really not much reason to even engage with mobs in this. Mobs might drop a pointy horn you can glue to the end of a stick to replace the weapon you broke fighting them, or possibly drop a material that's +2 attack more than the one you were using, but outside of that, it seems pointless. Mobs don't drop any serious permanent upgrades. I've killed a few overworld bosses, and not one of them dropped anything permanently useful, like a heart or stamina up. Maybe a horn that gives +10 to +20 attack that you can glue to the end of a stick that breaks in 20 hits that's a side grade or slight upgrade over the weapon you broke in order to drop them.... The game totally falls flat in risk-reward, or giving the player adequate incentive for engaging with the world and it's mechanics, IMO. The only way I could see someone enjoying this is if they truly like engaging in all the monotonous shit for some reason, like playing inventory manager, and the process of constantly gluing shit together. It's a game for simple people with simple tastes who're easily amused.

I didn't play BotW so I might give this one a try, but if I did, I would be fucking furious.

That is all very true. I share the same complaints specifically about BotW. But all that being said I still had more fun playing around in that game world than most other sandboxes. They got something really special there but they are failing to capitalise on it and frankly I think From Software took their idea and made it better. Only thing Elden Ring is missing is the fun physics and elemental shit this has. Otherwise it would be superior in every way.

Elden Ring also needs the ability to climb mountains. Maybe differentiate it more from Souls.

I can't tell if the chasms are messed up on the emulator or if they are supposed to look like this. If it's the latter, disappointed.

So does Hyrule completly lack a fucking blacksmith to repair/make swords? The mechanic does not bother me but it's stupid. It's like people at Nintendo don't play games outside their niche genres.
