Surprised people on here like Yahtzee.
Not everyone here is into virtue signaling
Yahtzee calls Rowling a “terf” and a “cunt”, which suggests he supports trannies.
Yeah, so what?
So why boost him?
I don't know you SJW, because of his content. Like I said, you're virtue signalling and not everyone here cares about that
Ok I'm talking to a retard. Got it.
I felt the same about you

You accused me of “virtue signalling” and you called me a “SJW“ because I criticised a man who uses the term “terf” several times to describe a woman who thinks men can't be women.

Fascinating

There was no other social media back then, and AFAIK that was the only place where he promoted his stuff when he first started out.
He was active at the Adventure Game Studio forums, for a time at least. I think there was some drama there with his gf in the center of it and after that he left.

EDIT: I'm probably misremembering, can't find any info, seems like he left for other reasons entirely.

I remember when Yahtzee was just a random poster at the Home of the Underdogs forums. Unkillable Cat and rezaf will probably remember as well. He stayed true to his nickname throughout.

He started with a website that had the tagline "Where laughter goes to die". I remember thinking that the guy has talent back then, there was some really funny stuff on it. Also, the tagline was just great, which is why I remember it. It was one of the very few "random website by a random guy" (which was basically all websites back then) that I visited regularly. Unfortunately I can't remember the url, I'd like to look at it on archive.org. IIRC HotU putting his first game "Six days a stranger" on its front page was the only promotion he ever got.
He also got his first girlfriend from the forums and they moved in together, but they separated shortly before he got his job at the Escapist.

Yeah, I remember the Stroppy Git. ;)

When he did his first 'Age of Evil'-episode for Duke Nukem 3D, he named me as an inspiration for him to continue with the next two episodes.

He'll survive this. If he could survive his first girlfriend, he can survive anything.

As for the website, is it this one?

Yahtzee just announced he's going to be using "Fully Ramblomatic" as the name for the show replacing Zero Punctuation.

You want people to ignore someone not based on his content but because you disagree with some of his opinions, that makes you a perfect example of an SJW

I miss the Home of the Underdogs!
I wasn't active on the forum, but visited the main page and sub pages frequently.
It was a great place to find some obscure - but still very good - games.

Someone tried to revive it later, but it wasn't the same.

Wasn't the original founder a woman from Hong Kong?
The site went down rather quickly. What happened to her?
Sarinee was from Thailand, if I remember correctly.
Life happened to her, she worked as a stockbroker, got married, and that was the end of Home of the Underdogs.

By using the derogatory term “terf”, he's condemning Rowling for refusing to lie about the reality of biology. In other words he thinks people should LIE to make a minority group [trannies in this case] feel better.

Yes, I think people who encourage others to embrace and repeat things that are blatantly not true should be ignored.

Lol again @ calling me a SJW for criticising a man who uses the term terf to refer to a woman.

Why do you care so much about some woman who wrote a bunch of kids' books
I don't. I don't even care about Harry Potter. I'd say the same things if Rowling was a man who wrote a bunch of books in a genre I had no interest in. The point is you have someone condemning someone else because they refuse to reject reality.

People like Yahtzee want society to believe in something that is obviously not true. And Yahtzee chose to make his political opinion part of his Hogwarts review “content”. No one forced him to do that.

Ok pussy, wish granted
Says “wish granted”

Then comes back later to edit his post, adding the word “pussy” – in response to me calling him a pussy.

Shame about that “Last edited:” notification.

You can't even stay true to your word.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
I wonder what happened to the marriage between Teesh (?) and that Spanish dude.

Jorge? No idea. I hope it worked out.

I've only heard bits and pieces about what happened to some of the HotU forum-regulars. Most of it is just Life Going On. Some of it is bad, some of it is just weird (like Ian now refusing to acknowledge Anachronox even exists, when he was its greatest fanboy ~20 years ago).

I used to watch so many ZP videos while playing Guild Wars 1 back then. Good old times.

That's really funny. Perhaps he couldn't handle the long-awaited sequel never coming out.

Sarinee was from Thailand, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure about her origin.

The thing is, it happened so suddenly.

It was a long time ago, so maybe I do remember it wrong.
But from my memory, she posted more or less regularly every few days for a long time - and suddenly there was silence without any notice what was going on.
I skimmed the forum (as a said, I wasn't really part of it), but still I remember people wondering, that something might have happened to her.

God thing to know, that this wasn't true.

That's not how I remember it. She posted less and less regularly on the forums, and also updated the main site less and less.
The site changed domain names twice, because she forgot to pay the provider and the url was registered by domaingrabbers. At that time she still put it up on a different domain twice. The writing was on the wall for a long time and there was a thread on the forum "where shall we go once this site goes down for good".
When the site went down for the last time (due to some technical problems, IIRC), she made the entire database and source code available for download (which proves that nothing bad happened to her).
There were two attempts to continue the site, one had the original design, but didn't have downloads for the games, because it was run by some Western guy who was afraid of the law. The other one had its own design but did have all the downloads. Either site failed to catch on.
