  • Just read the Akira manga. I expected more, everyone always says it is significantly better than the movie, but it was only even in quality.

It eludes me how we hadn't had a proper adaptation of the original manga in so much time, for it absolutely deserves it. Not a timeless masterpiece for sure (characterisation in particular is rather weak and the story arrives at nothing in the end), but it would make a decent action anime.

Hmm, I really liked it. I thought the art and paneling was especially good.
Man, I don't get it. Naraku in IV was a cakewalk, but I keep getting my ass handed to me in Nocturne. The Ongyo-Ki fight in Nocturne is bullshit that goes on for far too long. Comparatively, the only boss that has given me trouble in IV is Ose.

Stronger monsters is a must. Changes the difficulty from sub Final Fantasy level to one of the best balanced Dragon Quests of them all. Very precisely tuned for series veterans. The other ones range from preference to masochism, I like no xp from weaker monsters just as a hint for me when to attack a boss.

    J-just like... avoid encounters, bro!
I really ought to replay 11...
    dacencora
By the way, Ose is a pushover. You just have to hope you survive the first round of Fatal Sword attacks.
    Be brave little one.

Stop height-shaming Germans. It didn't go well the first time, no reason to try again

I barely remember anything about yesterday and a friend of mine told me that I spent 2 hours playing with a random dog

Aww... He's German :( I'm sad it had to happen to him!

Ah, well. He's a very nice lad, I'm pretty sure he will find a way to overcome it!
Could also be worse, Imagine being Venetian or, may God forgive me for even uttering the word, Milanese!
House at the Edge of Time is not that bad.

As for the encounter design, with how stupidly many high level magic items you get I didn't have that much trouble with those encounters NJClaw . Nuking a pack of Wild Hunt for 300 aoe with Wail of the Banshee or frying ghosts on their weak con save with 100 damage Stormbolts doesn't get old, even on Hard diff. There are way too many OP metamagic sceptres.

Keep in mind most of the encounters in that dungeon are optional if you understand the fog puzzle. As gamers we are obsessed with killing everything but we don't actually have to. Especially since you won't be leveling up at that point anymore anyways. I thought it was a great end to a great game

Now that you say it, I did finish the one where you play as 4 different Links, because it was free on the estore one day. That was neat.
    Cunt Dickula!?
Four Swords Adventures? That's like saying: "Yeah i played Elder Scrolls. The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard."
    dacencora
Try Link's Awakening or A Link to the Past. They're both on the 3DS eshop. If you really like Awakening, you could try the Oracle games, but yeah Four Swords is not exactly beloved by fans of the franchise.

I will take that back when they fix the frinedly AI, and don't bitch at me for liking PDS. It's not my fault it's so good.

Yeah that is ass. The original Japanese only DS game is pure turn based with full party control, the entire combat system for the PS3 version is lazily slapped on.
I have yet to get to pretty much the entirety of the Sega JRPG catalogue, but I have time on my side.

Shining the Holy Ark is a comforting game to have in your "to-play" list.
If you ever come to Croatia promise me you won't be that faggot who drives 60 km/h everywhere

Croatia is a weird place. People reserve parking spots with rocks and expect others to accept this insane act. What the fuck.

Wait is the "super tough dungeon" in SMT4 supposed to be Naraku? Admittedly, the Minotaur fight can take a couple tries, but that's the height of the difficulty?
    Derringer
Yeah, SMT4 has no difficulty, just humps.
    dacencora
Haha yeah I kept waiting for it to get more challenging. I like the game a lot, honestly. But Nocturne is much much more challenging.

Now Nocturne on the other hand...

I'm fairly sure both peanut butter and jelly eventually freeze your brain and make you retarded. It's not his fault.
    Should I play Bravely Default?
    Thac0
    Thac0
Only if you played and liked Final Fantasy III-V. If so definitly, it is a straight homage and in many ways improved.
thanks for reminding me about the Bravely Default OST, posting the best EO track, and defending the objectivity of art
