This thread is all about Future Incline. This might surprise some, but future for indie RPGs looks pretty bright. Dunno, you tell me your opinions after reading the list of very promising RPG projects worked on by based studios with proven track record. Here we go:

1. Monomyth (first person Arx Fatalis/Underworld, made by solo Dev from Austria. Beta got released 2 days ago, this Austrian artist shouldn't disappoint)

2. Kingdom Come 2 (Vavra is stubborn Czech motherfucker, who knows what he wants, and he wants to make cool, innovative and unique games. There's high probability Kingdom Come 2 will be kino af)

3. Zodiac Legion (mixture of Berserk and XCOM. World domination strategy layer and innovative tactical battles, with beautiful art style, this one should be real good)

4. Menace (Battle Brother's Devs next game. All we know is that setting is modern/futuristic and broes have legs. Enough to conclude: ALMOST GUARANTEED GOODNESS)

5. Underrail: Infusion (what to say. Itz Underrail 2 maaan. What else to say. Supposedly will have Underrail: Serbian bbq and rakija collector's edition)

6. Legionary's Life Dev's next game (has been in prod for 2+ years, much more "complex" then his previous work, he's very proud of what he's done so far, most likely historical setting)

7. Urban Strife (zombie appocalypse mixed with Fallout New Vegas factions and XCOM. Picked up by MicroProse. Looks extremely promising, to say the least)

8. Colony Ship (after AoD, comes AoD in space. Be grateful you're alive and can play next VaultDweller's masterpiece)

9. Stoneshard (game has slowed down development, but it's mechanics, build variety and glorious art style deserve praise. Next big update is scheduled for July)

10. ATOM team's NEXT RPG (whatever it might be, after Atom and Atom: Trudograd, we should have faith in these guyz. I just hope they're all alive, a few devs are in Ukraine right now. Putin, hurry up and conquer Ukraine, and give western billions of $ to these guys)

Honorable mentions: Kenshi 2, Archaelund, Stellar Tactics, Vagrus team's next project, Battle Brothel Dev's next porn, Fading Afternoon and quite a few more. What distinguishes these RPGs from others is their Devs. All of them are certified Based.TM and zero WOKERY bs is involved, many of these Devs are Codexers themselves. When that is the case and when you know you're dealing with 1)based 2)competent with proven track record 3)passionate and young aka not has-been Devs, you know you can TRULY expect some Incline

Future of RPG genre isn't in the hands of Bioware, Obsidian, Bethesda and alike amorphic globo-home corporate entities. No. Incline is strong with young, new, indie based Devs like Stygian Software, Iron Tower and ATOM team. As long as they remain Based (true to themselves) we can expect great things from them

Hey man it would be cool if you could include that new Bethesda game my buddies keep on talking about. I believe it is called Starfield or Skyrim, I can't recollect properly. Definitely one of those two.

Great list. I'd probably add the following 3:

Project Haven - Unholy mix of X-Com and JA2 and from indie portugalians, who seem to be pretty based.
Broken Roads - Australlian Fallout, with an interesting take on "aligntment" system.
Prometheus Wept - tb tactics from solo dev Timeslip

And as honorable mentions: Archquest, Shadow of the Road, Hard West 2 and CyberKnights: Flashpoint.

We are heading back into a recession for sure, I don't see an incline.
How? In last 12 months alone we got: Gothic: Archolos, ATOM: Trudograd, King Arthur: Knigth's Tale and Elden Ring. Honorable mentions: Black Geyser, Warhammer 40k: Daemonhunters, Expeditions: Rome. That's four 8-8.5/10, two 7s and one 6.5. During war in Ukraine, aftermath of global pandemic, beginning of global recession and I probably forgot to mention a few. But that's at least 4 very good - great RPGs released in past 12 months alone. During late 2000s/ early 2010s years used to pass without single decent RPG. It's all about perception. Our Jew Overlord on this site pushes pozzed retarded shit, demoralising us and doesn't let enough sunshine shine on good, talented and hardworking indies

I mean what's the problem, honestly? It's not RPG unless IGN and Infinitron write about it? Unless it has thread with 100s of pages of shitposting (like BG3, Cyberpunk, Outer Worlds etc)? These are all first games of mostly newbie Devs. And they are pretty damn decent...FUCK IT! They are pretty damn good

Honestly, I'm just fucking with you. I've played through like 1 RPG in the last 10 years and it was Divinity Original Sin 2. I'm here because I once had good memories of RPG's in the late 90s to the mid 2000's but then they died for like 10 years. They are all probably good RPGs now I just aged out.

That's alright I'm the same and I'm in my 20s. I quit all the big RPGs 10-30 hours in, Divinity Original Sin 2 is the only one I've actually finished.

From your list, there's only one sure thing, Colony Ship, I've played the demo, it's great and their former game Dungeon Rats offered great tactical challenge.

Urban Strife is promising but there is no certitude here.

Zodiac Legions, I want it to be great but i'm far from convinced yet.

Legionary's Life sequel could be good if the dev step up his game, combat wise.

ATOM's next game could go either way.

Everything else is going to be mediocre.

There is no reason to think next Underrail will be "mediocre". Only time will tell. Unless you don't like the original Underrail of curse.
There is also little reason to think Battle Bros' devs new prtoject will be bad, again, only time will tell. As with all games that aren't in beta like Colony Ship. I happen to know that you don't dislike BB so why the negativity?

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Future of RPG genre isn't in the hands of Bioware, Obsidian, Bethesda
It would be good for people to realize that not only do these companies no longer produce the quality of games they used to, they are also not the same companies anymore. The people behind the old classics left long ago. Only the brand name is the same.

The people who worked on the BG games, KotoR, etc? No longer at Bioware.
The people who made New Vegas, Mask of the Betrayer, etc? Most aren't at Obsidian anymore.
The people who made Daggerfall, Morrowind? Most aren't at Bethesda anymore.

Companies are empty shells. They don't make games. People do. And oftentimes, people who are disappointed with a company's new direction leave.
But consumers are often too blind to realize that, and cling to the hope that their favorite company will have a comeback and produce greatness again.
But they can't, because the kinds of people capable of producing greatness are long gone and nobody of that talent is willing to return to a shitty company like that.

I'm on the fence with underrail, many problems have been addressed, like the walking speed but the first few hours of underrail aren't very engaging, it's a slog until you complete the junkyard.
Then again, afterwards, it's a better game but you only control one character.
What does that make Underrail? A roguelike/RPG?

About BB dev's next game, I find half their DLC themes underwhelming at best (southern DLC and flesh and blood aka Darkest Dungeon inspired) so I'm not optimistic.
Between what they should do to make a better game and what they probably want to do to make more money, there is a huge gap impossible to fill.

That said, between the two, Menace is probably going to get the short end of the stick.

Got these from quick glance to my Steam wishlist:
Space Wreck
Fallen Gods
Urban Strife
Project Haven
Zodiac Legion
Prometheus Wept
Cyber Knights: Flashpoint
Call of Saregnar
Archaelund

I wonder if Starsector counts as upcoming game? Because that's pretty much the one I want to get on my hands most.

Stoneshart is a forever-early-access scam and KCD2 is vaporware.
