Genuinely curious to know your impressions.
I'm terribly sorry, man. I read this, then totally forgot that I wanted to respond.
To start, the music is my first complaint. It does not fit, imo. For a game about politics, or whatever, what they went with feels wrong. Some pieces sound like elevator music. If not elevator music, it gives off a more noir feel. Other times, it's jazz. Portraits differ greatly in quality.
Fonts and menu lack cohesiveness. They're all over the place. I know this is an indie game, but it gives off a very amateurish feel.
Their heart is the right place, but the whole thing feels like a cheap knockoff. I might be harsh, I don't know. On paper, this should be what any FFT/TO fan wants. Classes are serviceable, but from what little I saw, quite boring. This is probably my biggest issue. Bu, again, I only did like two low level battles. The fights I got into were easy. Not much resistance. Not sure if this is indicative of the game as a whole, or not. While deploying your units, I found no way to take a look at the battlefield. In a game like this, this is a must.
Writing tries to ape the games that they claim to take inspiration from. I skipped most of it, to be honest. I hate the way they animate text, and it takes too long. I'd rather skip everything, than wait.
There are small niggling issues all over that need to be fixed for a smoother experience. Everything feels a bit rough. In the future, I might try this, for maybe $5. But for now, I'm not interested.
