then again the Japanese flag is a circle and geometry is racist, so maybe those white-adjacent slants had it coming

Why would a game that's 100% about Japan at a time when it was 100% ethnically Japanese even need a diverse dev team? That's like putting sugar in your gas tank to make the fuel more "diverse".

Rhetorical question of course.
It's just another case of leftfag bullshit. Ghost of Tsushima is "cultural appropriation" because Western developers are making a game in Feudal Japan. Meanwhile, Ubisoft makes a game set in Feudal Japan made by Western developers, but adds a black guy, so you're not a bigot if you don't want this game.
Tom Cruise's character not being real is even worse. At least the black samurai is half-accurate.
Actually, no one knows if was even black. He was always described as having dark skin. When you compare skin tones with Asians, that's pretty much every other race other than the Irish.
Not only you're going to play as a nigger, you're going to play as a gay nigger
If he's also from Outer Space, then we've come full circle.

Top seller in Japan?! Even based Nippon has gone down the drain.
Eh, its not really a huge achievement. Every big release will go to the top of the charts when preorders open and the PS5 has had terrible software sales in Japan. Without numbers its hard to compare to other games. Stellar blade was topping the charts with 13k sales last week for example.

I hope they make Assassin's Creed M'bungabunga in Africa. You play a White Brit bringing Her Majesty's justice to the savage lands.
And you could free the slaves from the tribes that enslave and then attempt to sell them off.

Which is actually more historically accurate than a black samurai, hilariously enough.

Yet despite all this, it presently has a 215-page thread with at least five thousand posts on THIS forum.
i could tell you to fuck off for 2000 pages straight. how is that as a compliment?
Codex's 215 page Starfield thread isn't 215 pages of negative criticism though. Games that are overwhelmingly disliked don't rack up 215 pages of discussion. People quickly lose interest and move on.

You sure about that?
Outer Worlds generally has favourable reviews, doesn't it? Cursory glance on Metacritic tells me most of the major outlets gave it a 9. And it's co-directed by Tim Cain, a God-like figure here, so I'm not surprised the dedicated thread spans 338 pages.

In Anno 1800 you play as a colonizer from Europe, you go to south America, help some people running from the Spanish empire and a doomsday cult, turn their wild uninhabited islands into prosperous towns with happy inhabitants who say that life has never been better, then you go to Africa, help the dindus solve their petty tribal squabbles and save their archeological artifacts they would rather destroy to gain some political edge over other tribes, introduce first world technology and improve their lives immensely. Basically, if any of the devs thought that "colonialism bad" they utterly failed to make it look so.

None of this changes that fact that most every page are people who are bitching about how disappointing the game is.

That shows they still care about it. To be able to criticise the game and explain specifically why it is disappointing would require a person to ignore all negative reviews and commentary, purchase the game, and then put in a good number of hours, more hours than a casual player.

In Starfield's case, the diversity stuff was obvious from the previews, the game is absolutely stuffed with it, and people criticised it.That English guy made a video screaming about the pronouns options, which further fuelled the condemnation the game was getting. But despite all this lots of people still bought Starfield and put hundreds of hours into it. It was the 11th best selling game of 2023 and pulled in around $657m in sales:

This game is Western negrophile fantasy disguised as a multimillion dollar entertainment product.

From Ubisoft's news post:
Yasuke: A Real-Life Samurai

The decision to include a playable, real-life historical figure of this era in Assassins’ Creed Shadows was two-fold: Ubisoft Quebec wanted to include a Samurai, and Yasuke’s story was open-ended enough to allow for creativity; there are still plenty of questions and speculation surrounding him. The fascinating facts, though, were undisputable: of African origin, he arrived in Japan enslaved by the Portuguese; he impressed with size, strength, and wits; he served under the Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga. There must have been something exceptional about Yasuke to succeed in the service of a personality like Nobunaga’s, the team explains, and the goal has been to expound on this in Assassin’s Creed Shadows through his curiosity, openness, respect for values and tradition, valor, warmth, and charisma.

He also offers a unique perspective on the period: players can discover Japan alongside him. On one hand, he serves as a warning for the colonizing threat that the Portuguese present, and on the other, he adapted and thrived in Japan, and can be viewed as an example of the meritocratic structure established under Nobunaga. In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, his historical story is established, and then developed and expanded from that point (the team won’t spoil how he’s linked to Assassin’s Creed’s lore; players will have to play the game to find out).
The difference in their social stature is reflected in the world itself, which will respond differently to the player depending on who they are playing as. Naoe, for example, can present herself as a peasant and garner appropriate reactions; that is, if she wants to be seen at all. Yasuke, on the other hand, comes from a different land, but his status as a samurai garners respect from others, so people will bow to him on the streets. Characters can have different expectations of the pair, and in some cases, will prefer to deal with only one or the other.

It has also been suggested today that both characters are LGBT because of the following paragraph (taken from the same post)
Naoe and Yasuke’s disparate personalities also lead them to have different relationships and rapports with other characters, and they don’t always feel the same way about people, nor do people always feel the same way about them. Romantically, they will also attract and be attracted to different types of people. Through the pair, players will get to experience a multitude of relationships.

there is an obvious astroturfing campaign against Starfield. the ES games weren't that good before mods and expansion packs, either. if starfield had shipped with its current patch (maps, optimizations, survival mechanics) it would have an 85+ on Metacritic

Fuck me running....there is no actual proof he was actually from Africa. He could have easily been from somewhere like Bangladesh.

I mean, the rest was essentially garbage as well, but when your first fucking so-called "fact" is in fact, NOT.....

Good God these assholes really are trying to re-write history.

There's that, but there's also this really odd quote:

he impressed with size, strength, and wits; he served under the Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga.

Considering they've been dropping hints that Yasuke is gay, this line becomes highly suspect. How happy do you think the Japanese will be if Yasuke's backstory is in this game that he's banging Nobunaga?
