Just watched a quest where a "raid-loving" woman tells you to set her house on fire so that she can get wet enough to fuck her husband.
I just did that side quest yesterday. Female Eivor's delivery on these lines is much better than video related.

I mostly care about narrative and world atmosphere\immersion. Last open world games I've played and liked was Arkham series and The Witcher 3.

Should I try Valhalla?
It's pretty much a sidegrade from The Witcher 3 with significantly better open world exploration so I would recommend it. It also seems to have better build variety than Witcher 3 but that's not saying much. I'm about fifteen hours in doing a bunch of exploration and side quests but I still don't think I've hit the main story unless the main story are just all the kingdom arcs with an epilogue dealing with the templar faction.

If you're waiting to see whether or not the campaign is worth it, I'd keep waiting because the game is massive.

Story-wise, they do manage to subvert expectations quite a bit, and in a good way. When I first heard that they are making Valhalla I immediately though it's going to be a typical revenge story. "Player's clan is defeated by rival clan in Norway, player has to flee for his life to England, then he builds up an army in England in order to invade and reclaim his ancestral home". Of course the game does start with a revenge plot, but this is resolved literally in the first 2 quests of the prologue. After that, it turns out that the player leaves Norway voluntarily, and a large part of the game is him NOT wanting to return there.

There are also quite a few unpredictable twists in the other chapters of the main story as well, but I won't get into that. Point is, I think they actively went on their way to mostly avoid writing what everyone assumed they would write.

What are the largest settlements present in the game, Hellion? For me personally, a big part of the AC series' appeal was the portrayal of grandiose cities and cultural landmarks.

I need suggestions from those who are playing the game.

I only played:

AC 2 and love it.

ACBrotherhood and started to feel repetitive.

ACUnity disliked and never played any AC again.

After all those years, I may try returning. I usually do only the main quest cause i find side stuff extremely boring, unless there is a good narrative like in The Witcher.

I mostly care about narrative and world atmosphere\immersion. Last open world games I've played and liked was Arkham series and The Witcher 3.

Just play Black Flag instead. Still the best AC, at least by gameplay.

By gameplay Origins onwards is 10x better than what came before. BF only has better ship combat cos the timeline allowed good variety of ships, ship weapons etc.

I think the largest cities are London ("Lunden") and York ("Jorvik"), with 9-10 other mid-sized cities and castles here and there (like 9th century Winchester which is King Alfred's seat, Oxford, and other historical settlements that are either still inhabited cities or have since been abandoned).

London is filled with comically gigantic Roman ruins (which do allow for some good parkour instances, though), while York is a more "traditional" viking settlement.

Here's (half of) York:

I Bought this shit on Ubi connect and it's stuck in the "my orders" section. They did not add the game to my games collection or charged me for it or anything. Retards Grand finals between me for buying this shit on launch and Ubisoft buggy pc client.

But the ship combat of BF is the better alone than everything else they've done in the series. They should make another game set in the Age of Sail, maybe in the East Indies. The inland exploration could be pretty solid too in that setting.

ffs

Jesus fucking Christ, ENOUGH already w/ this faggotry. Do they not understand the massive dopamine hit the perpetually offended get when an official company account directly responds to this horseshit and promises to 'do better'. May as well give a crack addict his next rock, same effect. At least the Twitter comments are mostly push back against this absurdity with several comical piss takes in the responses.

I'm finding it a lot more entertaining/fun to play than KCD
Less bugs than KCD, I can complete quests day 1
The writing is no worse than KCD, and Eivor is far more charismatic than bumblefuck whatever his name was, in KCD.
Ubisoft made it fairly clear it was part fantasy, you go to Valhalla for fuck sake what did the twat expect ?
He didn't notice the mummies and huge God battles in Origins ? What's the difference.

So far so good, it's def Odyssey but taken (slightly) to the next level, which is good. I actually didn't follow the game so don't know too much about what's in store, but I certainly hope there's something similar to the mythical monster quests and the legendary hunts (best part of Odyssey). And as others have pointed out despite the overall viking atmosphere being good there's some really derpy shit every once in a while.

Also seeing Ubisoft talk about removing "hurtful" flavored text in upcoming patches is damn right infuriating. Lop off heads, steal, raid, burn down people's homes, hunt animals to extinction...all okay. Mention someone is disfigured and that's somehow a problem. Why in the fuck does any serious institution/company give into these weakling babies is a mystery. There's absolutely no way anyone was actually hurt by that text, it's all just political bullying.

So are they still pretending the game is supposed to be historical or are they just making fantasy climbing sims now? Because none of this looks remotely as it should historically.

I haven't come across it in my playthrough yet but there were some mythological boss fights in the marketing prior to release.
Also you visit Asgard later on in the game, the Atlantis DLCs for Odyssey were great so I'm glad they're putting the fantasy stuff in the base game this time.

Everybody keep saying that to Ubisoft since BF and they eventually announced Skull & Bones - only multiplayer shit...donno what happened to that tho.

Ubisoft is fast becoming the most cucked gaming company. Makes you wonder if we here could come up anything absurd, and they would remove it if we complained.

Like Vavra I also liked Origins! Great atmosphere, even if rpg elements were still very basic.

They remove it because there are quite some people that get offended and they will make bad advertising for the game, so it's easier to just remove it and calm them down.

Remember that in the game industry, when someone has no life, feels bored or simply want more attention because weak personality, he\she is inclined to post on social medias things that he\she find offennsive in a game with the only goal to receive some praise from similar people just to feel a bit better. They usually have a edgy look (extreme hair style and colour, etc.) in hoping to get more attention, just like the typical hardcore gothic dark teenager.

The typical pattern is:

I am lonely and nobody consider me > aslo I am bored > let's attack some developers on twitter about some random stuff i pretend i feel offended with > people support me in the comment=developers apologize > i feel better now.

The same pattern applies on people randomly hating Epic store, Triple A developers, making gender or race arguments or being extremely edgy on forums like this, so don't think that half of codex users are different from that

Blind players?

How can you play a videogame without eyesight?
It's not that simple.

There are video games for blind players (yes, it is a bit weird given the meaning of "video").
Obviously, there is quite the limitation on what you can or cannot do in such a game, but it is absolutely doable and some games could also easily be adjusted to be playable for blind people - e.g. something like King Of Dragon Pass.
Basically, as long as you can replace visual cues with audio cues, it can be done.

I actually find this very interesting for a game like AC.
On one hand, it seems quite obvious that a blind person can never play a game like this.
On the hand, some have obviously attempted and even achieved some kind of success - and if you imagine that you hear all the fighting and environmental sounds, I can kind of see (huehue) how this would work. Even if only on the easiest of difficulties. And if you were streaming, it would probably look like you're stumbling around like a games journalist.
There are also people that are entirely blind and those that "only" have seriously impaired sight.
