No, the surface is nowhere similar with cramped theme locations next to each other
...So was bg1.
Ever notice why some locations had a travel time of 0?
All of the maps can be stitched together to make one big map.
Not 100%, especially since some biomes don't mesh well when mushed together, but kinda -

The main road between Candlekeep - Nashkel - Baldur's Gate does line up quite well.

Seeing as how the early access already has mods, there might be a possibility for an SCS-like mod down the road. There are difficulty mods for D:OS1 and 2, so it's not like there isn't a precedent. Also, BG1 is great with no nostalgia factored in. I've mentioned this multiple times already, but I never played the BGs as a kid, I played them for the first time the year I joined the 'Dex.
Well, there is certainly room for improvement. Currently if you stealth > shoot > restealth, the enemies will just stand there during their turn, instead of moving around to at least attempt to find the stealthed character.

You can't stealth when someone is aware of your immediate location in tabletop. Hitting someone would count as them knowing where you are, so I'm willing to believe this is a bug.

The temple is a great place to turn the game into Thief Simulator.

The guards outside the barrel room especially are fun to fuck with if you go in via the rafters, build yourself an exit, then leave them a nice surprise when you provoke them to run into the room.

I have absolutely no idea of how people can pretend BG1 and 2 were any degree of "grimdark" by any possible standards.
And since when did they lack "color", anyway?

This is what happens when you look at the world through glasses tinted with nostalgia. Yeah, I clearly remember that dark dystopia of a city that was Athkatla, ESPECIALLY Waukeen's Promenade. Just greys and browns...

Damn bros, 23k reviews on steam and 87% are positive. The ones that are negative are because the game is buggy, if that wasn't the case it could hit 95% positive reviews.

BG3 is a great success!

Steamtards are also eating up slop like Outer Worlds or <latest weeb shovelware>
Steam reviews are about as relevant and reliable as the opinion of a toddler.

While bg3 is in early access and has a lot of things that needs to be improved upon i don't think the title deserves bad rating. So fare the story and the reactivity is very engaging i love exploration and combat. The only thing i dislike is the lack of DAY/Night cycle and the casual encounters.

There's no problem here, original BGs were hardly any kind of high brow connoisseur rpg material yet constantly score high for some reason. It's all balanced.

Obligatory reminder that the BGs were dumbed down games for casuals.
I mean, they always hit a good spot for me and I loved them dearly over the years, but yeah... it's weird sometime to read game journalists and younger people talk as if BG was the peak of hardcore gaming in the RPG genre, when if anything the exact opposite was true: BG1 and 2 were arguably the point where RPGs started making an active effort to be a bit more mainstream: excellent production value (comparatively to their time of release), streamlined interface that made everything as intuitive as possible, the least possible amount of numbers openly displayed, very limited reactivity and scenery interaction, a control scheme borrowed by the then super-popular RTS genre and real time combat because turn-based was assumed to lack mainstream appeal.

she's a bitch and a harper

Also she is 100 y.o. so it's like... errrrrr... very pervert thing to "romance" granny?

I'm the opposite, I kill nearly every BG 1 and 2 companion except for Edwin (too many spell slots; can't resist).

For me Edwin is the first targen cause he invalidate main-mage who will be a;ways second while Edwi is here.

That it's more faithful to D&D is irrelevant, it's not faithful to Baldur's Gate. Also, now that I've tried out the EA, a lesser but still impactful departure is how BG3 is structured around time-locked environments.

Strangely enough you didn't mention departure from isometric to 3Dboobies. Is it counts as senile grumbling already?

Dude, them casuls played back then Starcraft, Quake, CS. You definitely don't remember those times. From RPG casuls preferred Fallout - they asked me to solve Gekko power plant quest for them so they could have car and bozar, and went brrrr in wastelands without giving a fuck to anything.

I don't mind have multiple mages, though I usually play a multi-class (thief-mage; ranger-cleric; or full F/M/T in BG 2) or cleric when making my own character. Though lately I tend to play solo in the BG games and use a small party in IWD (2-3 characters).

The point is not multiple or not, but Edwin always superior, and main always carry suitcases for him.
