Thank you for fighting the good fight, brother! One day, the United Nations shall recognise our struggle for self-determination, and they shall celebrate it with the Non-Shitfucking-Moronic RPG Party Controls Month. It will be an occasion for balloons and shift + click mouse listeners. The first day of the fête will be marked by feedling a toilet chain-shaped sausage rope to a pack of starving hyenas, Swen effigy optional. Eventually, we'll be awarded a copy of Chris Avellone in recognition of our efforts, but since cloning won't have been perfected by that point, they'll just give us the real Chris Avellone on loan. And BG3's controls will still suck shit.
Yeah, because the average numerical score of the users can tell us which of these 3 games is "better". BG3 invites a lot of low scores from salty nostalgiacs only because it's turn-based instead of RTwP.

The nostalgiafags on GoG rate obscure, unplayable turds with 4 stars on a bad day. BG3 running on Larians engine instead of infinity should already disqualify it from any rating above 2. '3.8' is very telling of the sort of 'people' that write GoG reviews.
Actually, if you short the reviews by most critical on gog, I used CTRL + F on pages 1,2, 3, 4 and 5. NO ONE mentioned RtWP. People mentioned the high price tag to a pre alpha game with a lot of technical problems, mentioning that it is too close to DOS3, etc.
People criticizing BG3 here mentions a lot of problems with it. None of then are "turn based mode".
It shows how the average GoG users perceive a game. I never denied that DOS1/2 games are popular; only that games with extremely smaller budget managed to please way more the target audience. And Larian will probably receive a lot of critiques, because it is too DOS like for Baldur's Gate fans and too D&D like for DOS 1/2 fans. But the most critical reviews can be a good source about what is wrong with a RPG but some times are full of BS. For eg,
"Buy this game only if you want to be brutalized by its punishing difficulty. After spending hours of being repeatedly one shotted by a group of three wolfs, I have had enough. Other games can be difficult but at least they give players a chance to look around and explore a bit before ramroding it in! Asking for a refund - its unplayable."
"Swarm of spiders early game that you cannot kill unless you see a dev post or a youtube video on how to get by them."
[/quote]
So, people mentions bugs and difficulty as reason which they din't liked kingmaker. With BG3, they mention that
It is paying US$60,00 to be free tester to Larian Thanks Mystra for me paying for this in ARS
"A small example, when your party has a miss rate of 60%+ the game is no fun anymore."
And that " DOS 3 not baldur's gate 3"
There was an FPS called Lawbreakers, trying to appeal to Unreal/Quake old school fans and to modern OverWAtch hero shooter fans and it failed on appealing to both and died quickly. This is what will gonna happen with BG3. People who like modern games will prefer DOS2 and all other games and people who like old school games will prefer Pathfinder : Wrath of the Righteous.
You can leave a score without writing a review. And yeah, it's too expensive for an early access title, but what does that have to do with the quality of the actual game?

I can see Lacrymas enjoying BG3 cuz PF:WoTR and KoTC2 are too epic for him and he prefers less epic, lower level adventures. But is important to separate personal preferences than game quality.
Not really, you more or less reinforced his point. Steam is casualtard land,i never take their reviews seriously, tho they are a funny when decide to nuke some shitty game like the new EU4 dlc. While gog is more a niche and the scores are more reasonable and accurate.
That is how Larian seems any great RPG... The company in charge of making a sequel to Baldur's Gate, thinks that BG style of games are "overhyped mediocre trash", probably less than 1% of Larian developers even played BG2:SoA. Larian was founded on 1996 and only got success after decades of decline on the genre mostly caused by consoles. Divine Divinity was good but not as other earlier 00s games.
And before anything, no, I don't dislike BG3 by being turn based. As I love :
KoTC 1
KoTC 2
Temple of elemental Evil
Dark Sun : Shattered Lands
Dark Sun : Wake of the Ravager
Solasta : Crown of the Magister
All exclusively turn based D&D adaptation games. In fact, I would like to see a optional turn based mode for IE games if I could and even for first person dungeon crawlers like Menzoberranzan.
Hush hush now my sweet summer child, your suffering will be over soon when BG3 fully gets released. From then on the Baldur's Gate name will only be associated with BG3, the older boomer trash will be forgotten and only remembered by a small group of autists on the codex.

Or ... Will be considered too boomer for Larian fanboys and too modern for BG1/2 fanboys and have the same fate of lawbreakers which din't pleased old school arena shooter fans nor modern hero shooter fans. People are posting memes like
Didn't know we cared about Reddit's opinions and stale and overused memes.
Also Lawbreakers failed because it was complete shit. Titanfall 2 does a better job at combining the movement of old arena shooters with modern shooters mechanics. It even has a bit of hero shooters with the Titans. And again, a game success is not always related to its quality. If that were so, the videogame industry wouldn't have declined so much through the years.
