Some people seem to think this is what an RPG is.

Those people should be shot.

Well, I mean it looks faggoty I'll give you that, but what's wrong with the interaction per se? Lutist fretting about writing a song, has teacher's lute as only memory, thief steals it from her backpack, she's upset, he has a change of heart and gives it back. What's so offensive about that?

Would sir prefer it if it were done in isometric with a dialogue box? :)

Yes?

+1. The perspective makes it look utterly ridiculous. Seeing all the other companions idling in the background, the tiefling looking for a goddamn lute in her trouser pockets... Either have a proper cutscene or abstract it out completely and just have a dialogue box.

Yeah you might be right there but how it's presented is a secondary issue. The guy's original point in bringing it up was that it showed a bit of interactivity, something the game is doing right - and he seems to be right about that. It is a bit of interactivity.

Since I have the character flaw of being unable to play evil characters in videogames, it would never occur to me to do something like that, but the fact that the interactivity is there is surely a little plus point on Larian's side?

Yeppers. Baldur's Gate 3 has some janky animations during cutscenes. In that video, the Tiefling Woman looks weird, as she's holding her arms up doing some kind of dance while searching for her missing lute.

But hilariously enough that's when the camera is already back in "isometric" view.

Larian and their games get a lot of flak on this site, but rarely for their reactivity and alternate ways of handling quests and other miscellaneous obstacles you might come across.
Most peoples' issues with the game are due to gameplay elements such as 5e, missing reactions, party movement tied to chains or other general things such as 'Larian writing' and them trying to appeal to the masses by allocating far too many resources on motion capture/full voice acting and so on.

For fuck's sake, if there's one thing should be evaluated after the actual release it's the animation quality/overall looks.

Especially since that's the ONE field where improvements since the start of the EA have been consistent.

But the quality is a bit of a pretext and we all know it.
The point it that people here wants to complain about the fact that these animations and voice performances exist in the first place. "It's a waste of resources" yadda yadda.

Now is the time to criticize shit that needs fixing becaue the chance of things being fixed after "release" is much smaller. I'll never stop hating this newspeak btw.

I'm not looking to criticize for criticism's sake. I bought a gaming PC to play this and I fully intend to get it when they finish it. But if you put your game out there for me to see I'll call it like I see it. No passes for early access from me. I didn't make them develop it that way. This hasn't always been common or necessary.

Of course it is, a very good thing. It looks really silly as currently implemented though. If they don't sort that out this game will be a laughingstock.

There's no science or sorcery on this planet that can turn NWN 2 in something "pretty good".

Spell fixes does it. In fact, you can easily re compile and write your custom spells. I did it. Never published any mod, but is so easy to mod, I've read the .NSS source code of my favorite spells by curiosity(on spell fixes mod). Honestly, if someone remakes BG3 campaign into NWN2 engine, despite the dated graphics, I would prefer to play BG3 on NWN2 engine.
Let me guess - it's
Can necromancer at level 1 cast Epic Ray of Necromancy which deals 1293d81 damage and can one shot ELDER DRAGON GODS and summon 48d56 Greater Power Liches per level which is a CR9001 monster (like on Liches & Necromancers R E T U R N I N G 2.0)?

No, Lv 1 necromancers should't be doing epic stuff. Only Death Gods should be able to OHK other Gods and it should lead to a lot of consequences and punishment by Ao. Summoning/Creating Lich should't be possible to anything but a God of Undeath or a DEmon Lord of Undeath like Orcus. In fact, necromancers should only become able to have some OHK capability at teen levels(13+). A lv 1 necromancer should be a guy very close to a lv 0 commoner.

On Returning, you don't even start as a necromancer. Took 14 hours for me to become one. What you need to do?
  • Ask Xardas for apprenticeship and wait till he thinks about it.
  • Accept and he says that Dark Magic is very dangerous
  • Train your spirit(raising mana) and mind(reading books, alchemy, etc; you can't pay trainers to train intellect)
  • Talk to him again
  • Do the initiation in the circle of darkness which involves killing a novice of fire mages in a monastery full of circle 4+ fire mages while you can't even cast magic without scrolls
  • Purchase the book of runemaking circle 1, pay Xardas to teach how to make the rune and the first circle, find a black pearl and a runestone which are the ingredients

You aren't getting that they make fun of you, don't you?

Also, Returning is one of the worst mods there is for Gothic 2. What makes Gothic special is the detailed world that kinda makes sense, Returning shits all over that by cramming in inane stuff everywhere.

Sure but why criticize something that devs themselves perfectly are aware of? Even past that, what's the point of expressing something once more that reddit troglodites or steamtards will million times anyway because that's the most simple thing to notice and point out? Larian obviously had some sudden issues with the mocap which lead to animations thanks to the coof or at least that's what they put blame on. As the time goes on, these whatever issues they have are wearing off but it's still unclear if Larian will be able to deliver truly polished cut-scenes by the game's release.

Because it looks fucking retarded and I call it like I see it. I don't need any more reason than that. If they've acknowledged the issue and announced plans to fix it good for them. When they follow through on said plans I'll be forced to shut my trap. Until then I'll enjoy exercising my right to mock their spastic animations.

For every person slinging shit in here there's a 100 out there slurping Swen's asshole

Constant, at times unnecessary criticism > shameless sycophancy
