There's plenty of OSR systems that are 1E/2E in all but a name, but they don't come with a brand name that attracts millions of critical role / very strange things sheeple.

No no no you got this all wrong. I've been told that Larian are VERY BIG FANS of the original Baldur's Gate (It was the first DnD adaption on PC after all) and they really want to tell the story of... something something.

Point is, it doesn't matter whether 5e is a "good" or "bad" system (frankly, idk what even makes a system "good" or "bad"). What matters is that it managed to attract all the wrong kinds of people, and no system can fix that. If you're making money off their backs, well, good for you. I don't, so I'd rather dissociate from that hobby entirely than rub my shoulders with those freaks.

D&D always attracted weirdos of all kinds. But the massive chunk of socially inept nerds decided that their time is better spent sending death threats on twitter and shooting up schools, instead of playing D&D in their mom’s basement.

Leading to hilarious sitations where in all the CYOA segments your nerdy wizard will be the one bending metal bars with his bare hands, while the barb will be a genius solving mathematical equations and deciphering arcane runes. Absolute fucking clown world, I hope Sawyer is never again allowed to work on any RPG game.
