I see Codexers are discovering denial as a coping mechanism. That's cute.

Pressing a reaction button is not going to take the pink-haired SJW man out of your favorite game, I'm afraid.

Fascinating. Close to 3/4 of the people answering have pronouns on their bios.

You may not like it, but this is what peak D&D fan looks like:

NpkTxpK.jpg

Glad to see people waking up to the harsh reality of actual, current, real-life D&D fans that I've been talking about for months. The people that this game will be tailored to and cater to.

In case anyone's wondering, DMs Guild (from the guy's twitter profile) is the official, WotC-approved outlet for community-generated D&D content. If you want to publish anything D&D-related, whether for free or paid, you go there.

Doubt it, more likely he's one of the modern D&D fans that just uses it to larp. A D&D CRPG has zero appeal to this group because it's not why they "play" D&D.
a quick scan of his twitter has zero mentions of baldur's gate whatsoever, so, probably true.

Don't doubt it. I have been involved in large D&D groups of actual tabletop players on Facebook, Google+ and forums. This is EXACTLY what the overwhelming majority of present-day D&D fan is like, which is also why I either left those communities or got banned from them.

If you think autists on the Codex are the main audience of BG3 and not the thousands upon thousands of people like this guy, I have bad news for you.

Here's the problem with this: There aren't enough people who play D&D for it to be worth targeting. The tabletop RPG market is pretty small, way smaller than people on the codex seem to realize.
In 2017, the US/Canada tabletop RPG market was about $45 million. Not D&D — the entire tabletop RPG market.
2017 happens to be the same year Larian released D:OS2… which sold a million copies in about two months.

And just to really hammer it home: How much do you think a self-identified communist that wants to "eat the rich" is willing to spend on a digital entertainment product?

Just in case you're wondering, this is one of the most influential people in the world of D&D and tabletop roleplaying at large on the internet:
Fucked up thing is he's a damned good DM. Noticed a trend of the most insufferable people taking to the role of a god most easily. I think I want to play D&D with historical dictators and serial killers.

You're just a dumb kid who googled "rpg market share" and pasted the first result in here. I, on the other hand, have been monitoring the industry for nearly a decade now.

First of all, ENWorld, faggots that they are, decided to publish numbers from ICv2 - more or less a non-source.
Secondly, there's been around a dozen D&D 5E-centric tabletop Kickstarters that collected upwards of 1 million USD each, which equals about a quarter of your "total RPG market share" figure, which as you can see is complete bullshit.

Lastly, as Lord Bertrand Russell said, "never let yourself be diverted by what you wish to believe". Know more of facts before you spout your nonsense.

Did you really just respond to my data with anecdotes then accuse me of not using facts?
Holy shit you are retarded.

Congrats, you have 10 year experience of being wrong. Keep bragging.

I liked this thread better a few days ago when we all found something we could agree sucked and we shit on it mercilessly.

That's cute. You guys call your friends to fight your battles for you. Usually you just parrot what they say instead.

Haven't read the thread otherwise and I'm not going to get into an argument about it but consider the opposing viewpoint: that instead of movement being penalized in some way and requiring the 'mover' to pay in health, skill points or action points that the movement should be 'free' and that it should be up to the opponents, who want to hamper/stop the movement to spend their action economy to do so - e.g. using a disable/debuff.

I think this is the best method for real-time and turn based with split action and movement point pools and AoO is ok in turn-based where movement and non-movement action 'points' use the same action point pool, and in D&D technically they do.

With origin story offering shit tons of unique content, which one you are going to pick? Walking nuke wizard and discount Lucian seem fun, but Gith has more ties with main story.

But really vidia gay? Maybe journous and influential twatters personas maybe. And some devs, and cooomsumers, and codexers, writers, editors ....
:despair:
Still it's tiny minority, I hope.
Gays are different. Karl Lagerfeld was gay but did what he could to uphold high standards for bitches and kept fatties away from modeling his entire life. There's a lot of gays and bisexuals who want hot women in games.

back on topic:

the only thing I want to know about this game is more about the story and characters.

the writing is the biggest weakness in every Larian game, so if it's decently written, it should be equally decent. especially after what I've seen in the gameplay demo.

using featherfall to jump all around the map, climbing up buildings, throwing things - I'm really impressed by how far Larian went here as far as gameplay is concerned.
