You can change character appearance in DoS2 any time, maybe it's possible in BG3 since there's coop and such
https://youtu.be/-YsT9eQ_CO4?t=182Where did you get that Shadowheart screenshot?
Actually I was assuming you're dumb doing the exact opposite.prodigydancer If you're incapable of interpreting what I mean by "the world that the writers of the first two games created" and assume that I'm dumb to be talking about the world that Ed Greenwood/WOTC "created for them" and to then reply/infer that the BG games were easy to make - as the framework was in place, and Bioware could just copy/pasted from Faerun > BG without creating their own world?
BG has never been some marvel of writting or worldbuilding.
It's always been serviceable - which conveniently has also always been the case with Larian's games - minus sole exception of DOS1.
If nuBG was being made by Bethesda you also wouldn't be complaining about writing (assuming +/- Skyrim's level or above), but mechanical stuff (namely it being an action game).
Similarly, with Larian the main reasons to worry would be them losing themselves among gamey aspects of game mechanics, devaluing some of the things they do the best.
Her change in appearance left us all Shadowheart-broken.Before I say anything else, she isn't in any way, shape or form "ugly" in the redesign, that's preposterous and says volumes about the people who look at her, think she's "ugly" and proudly proclaim it publicly. Having said that, they did indeed ruin my waifu, she looks like Ashley from Mass Effect now.
ME1 and 2.Which version of Ashley?
fairy tale dark. the stakes were high, the death was real, the bhaal fate affecting main char inevitable, but world never lacked in something cheerful, silly or strange.Just how was Baldurs Gate a dark game?
And here I wanted to give this game a chanceThey couldn't help themselves and made even the half-elf waifu ugly
Dunno what to dwell on here. She has pretty much the same face and that's the important part, therefore no signs of ugliefication (yet). And as for any accesories, hair cut let alone her clothes - that stuff might change many times more before release. She does look bland now and more human-like, not a half-elf but it's just too minor. It's not great that devs're not sure themselves about her look at this stage but not the end of the world either. Although I wonder are they changed her complexion or it all thanks to completely different lightning.
Heh. They couldn't help themselves and made even the half-elf waifu ugly. Larianfags will defend this.
To me it's the subtle: before, her armour was until below the collar bone, now it is above. Below: approach-able badass girl. Above: nun.
Yes I agree they both look pretty genericTo me it's the subtle: before, her armour was until below the collar bone, now it is above. Below: approach-able badass girl. Above: nun.
Case study in trying too hard to overanalyse something that doesn't warrant it.
It's one generic forgettable fantasy lady for another, going through various edits and changes like every other character in the history of any media.
The real RPG grognard outrage is surely at the quality of the dialo- agh! I can feel you! Get out of my head!
It is the objectively correct choice though. That third person past tense was offputting.I hope this doesn't set a trend of Larian bending over backwards to every rando's criticism. The initiative change is very good, but changing the narration style of the dialogue options feels like a move made out of fear to not lose sales.
